The University seems to be on to something major here, between the Titanium bridge and the corrosion program. Corrosion control is something with incredible huge potential (costs the USA $400 billion every year), but nobody has stepped up to start anything. UA is putting themselves in position to become THE leader in this field. We're in the perfect location, in the heart of the Rust Belt, and we already have a top-notch engineering program to use as a foundation.

Egner was recently evaluated by the ESPN recruiting service. They gave him a grade of 84, which translates to "83-86: Mid-major prospect. Player should be a solid contributor and two- or three-year starter at a mid-major program." "Akron University" c'mon ESPN.Anyway, he sems like a prospect, but KD has a way of getting players to reach their full potential and even go beyond it.He has a full year to improve those areas of his game before coming here.

They're a 1-AA team in terms of players on scholarship now. And yet they are expecting to be better than they've been in years. They have no depth whatsoever.Akron is going to lay a beatdown of epic proportions on them. I can't wait to see them attempt to talk smack before this game.

The Lady Zips lost 1-2, but this was an exhibition game and doesn't count towards the record. Their next home game is Sunday, August 23rd at 7PM against Wright State. It's the day before classes begin.

The "Multiple". It's a new scheme where you put 11 guys on the field at random positions. Sometimes you'll have 2 linemen and 9 DBs or you can stack the box with 4 linemen and 4 LBs, using the same 11 guys.

The thing is that the individual colleges that make up the university do have admission standards.

I wonder if they offer them. Couldn't possibly hurt.Any extra money they make is likely going into the soccer stadium fund. If you needed any excuse to support the women's team, that should be it. I would support them either way, that's some extra incentive.

I was referring to being #1 in the preseason. It's a whole different animal compared to moving into the spot later in the season.

Top Drawer Soccer ranks Akron #1 in the preseason poll.This is a monumental first for the program and for UA athletics as a whole. The schedule is perfect, playing 8 ranked teams. If this team is as good as I think they will be, I would love to what the NCAA will try to come up with as an excuse to screw us over in the playoffs this year. Low seed? No homefield? Put us up against the toughest path to the championship? I say "Bring it on".

The thing that jumps immediately out about the defense to me is the speed. This is a fast defense, easily the fastest in the MAC.We're also very deep, but very young.

I just saw a 30-second TV spot for the stadium on the Discovery Channel. It looked very well done. Much better than this.

Pretty sure he just pulled the names out of a hat, like most people who predict the MAC.Just put this up on the MAC board, too. The whole conference is sorely lacking in fan support outside of their own little worlds/message-boards.

I know that in the MAC west poll a few of the teams are in on it. As it stands, we're about on level with the larger schools.
