  1. Who's off the board? I can't find anything on the web and didn't see the show on TV.I know Vermont and Evansville are out, but who's left that would be a good matchup?
  2. I'm most interested in who would give us the best return gaem at home next year. A bracketbuster win or loss this year doesn't really mean anything, but next year we need the best team possible to come to the JAR. I'm not sure which one of those teams will be improved the most, or which ones lose their top players and will be rebuilding.
  3. Today's the day. Any last-second guess as to who our opponent will be? Our RPI is 123.Some likely matchups:Vermont: 121Drexel: 100James madison: 140UW-Milwaukee: 111Drake: 126Tennessee-Martin: 139Anybody other than these and we're either travelling to the West Coast or grossly undermatched/overmatched.
  4. I would have Miami and Akron ahead of Ball State. Can't, Ohio, and BG are below them.
  5. We will beat Penn State this year. I don't normally speak in absolutes when predicting Zips wins and losses, but we will win this game.
  6. http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/viewp...mp;pr_key=78210A mystery no longer. If the other defender is at this level too, this class will be very solid.
  7. Ha. Sometimes I deserve it. Indeed, it will be really interesting to see how this pans out. Would anyone be against having the west and east stands equal in capacity?I don't really care whether one side is actually bigger than the other. With the pressbox, the west side will always be the "preferred" side; it will be in the shade in the afternoon while the east will have the sun in their faces. I think the east upper stands will be a bit bigger than the pressbox side, from what I've seen up close.
  8. Currently, Akron is at 4-3 in the MAC, tied with BG and WMU. That's good for the 4th seed in the tournament, thanks to us holding the tiebreaker over both BG and WMU, via the head-to-head against the Falcons and a better record against common opponents with WMU.
  9. I'm predicting the endzone seating to collapse in the spring. There's an underground spring eating away at the concrete there and it looks like its already started to sink in one or two spots, and once all this snow melts it should speed up the process.
  10. Good thing you're not an Ohio fan, Captain. They're already 0-2 against the West.
  11. Wasn't Lee Owens the coach then? They're not going to be fired up to play Akron, and we will stay with them through the end of the third quarter.
  12. I really can't stand Pitt fans, but that's a topic for another discussion. What I want to know is what our 6th home game will be. We're sitting at 11 official games (@ Penn State, Indiana, @ Syracuse, and 8 MAC games.
  13. http://www.cleveland.com/sports/college/in...ce_commiss.html   Although he had to find a way to screw us over one last time before leaving, via the extended ESPN contract which ensures weekday games in November for years to come.
  14. I heard the same thing.
  15. i dont know why not. i seen him play a few times and he was an outstanding back. also played some DB.Only so many scholarships and starting to get deep at RB?Then again, raw athletes never hurt a team. You could move him to DB, KR, PR, etc.Huge mistake not recruiting this kid if you ask me. The only reason he wasn't a BCS recruit is because he played at a small school not known as a football power. This one might come back to bite us in the behind. We're set at RB for a very long time. Alex Allen, Devoe Torrence (Offers from Cinci, Pitt, Purdue, Michigan, and Michigan State, not to mention an OSU offer that was pulled due to a legal thing, rated #6 RB in the country for 2008 by Rivals), and Dale Martin (Transfer from Louisville, offers from Michigan State, Nebraska, NC State, Wisconsin, California, Iowa, Illinois, Tennessee, and Florida, rated #19 RB by Rivals, #25 by Scout) mean we will be just fine at that position without having to recruit a guy that didn't get a single BCS offer.
  16. I don't think Tressel is incredulous so much as most of OSU's fans. It's beyond their comprehension that a kid would choose any school at all over OSU.
  17. Until UA gets a journalism school, I will never expect a high quality student newspaper here. Sometimes they surprise me and have a good edition, but usually it comes off as the product of a couple of kids with a newspaper hobby.
  18. Skip, are you saying that there's a team in the West that we shouldn't beat? Because we absolutely should beat them all, and beat them all by a very large margin. Sometimes teams do things they shouldn't, and then I become disappointed. We should have swept the West last year, too, but didn't.
  19. If any idiot actually decides to switch schools because of this, good riddance. I don't want them here anyways.
  20. And I can almost guarantee him gaining 1 or 2 more stars simply because of this offer, whether he stays or goes.
  21. Thanks for the exception. Charlie Cheeseburger has lots to do with that. Why don't you go find me the last NC, or even top 20 team that was made of all 1-2*?You can probably find 1 exception there too.Buckzip, the number of stars a player has is a reflection of who offered them, not of their athletic ability. Just look at scout's page for Akron recruiting: they made every single one of our recruits a 2-star guy today, where there used to be quite a few 1-star guys. They did that because MAC recruits are automatically 2-stars unless they have a significant amount of offers from BCS schools.
  22. http://www.collegeinsider.com/tournament/A fourth postseason tournament. There's absolutely no excuse not to play in the postseason now, and the experience would be invaluable for our young team.
  23. It's a bit rough, but it's a good preparation for the MAC tournament, where there is often less than 24 hours between games.
  24. You could wonder the exact same thing about the Zips.I think Akron should win this game, but then again i think that about every game.
  25. Great win Zips! Brett played like another #23 tonight. When he and Chris are in sync, there's no stopping them. Can't has some chemistry problems, it seems. I knew the hodge-podge of transfers, JUCOs, and jailbirds was unsustainable and would likely collapse as soon as he left. This was their 11th loss, which pretty much seals the deal that they won't be getting to 20 wins this season and should start praying for a winning season. There's only one game left on the schedule that truly concerns me, and that's the road game at Buffalo. We get Miami, Ohio, and BG at home. We have YSU and the West, which should be 7 guaranteed wins. Then we finish it off with Can't again, and by that time they should have played themselves out of a bye in the tourney.Even better is that OU choked at home and lost to BG 52-51 in front of 11,000 fans. Buffalo is now the top team in the MAC by far, after they went to Miami and is destroying them 43-25 in a game that looks like it's even more unwatchable than usual.
