Louder does not translate to better.

Our defense matches up great with their offensive strengths. No "air raid" this time. A lot of YSU's points came from big plays. A focus on the running game makes it less likely for Akron to get those types of plays unless we have a Dri Archer type player somewhere on the roster that can pop out of the backfield before the defense sees him. Using the run to set up the pass only works if you can actually pass the ball. Have the receivers improved? I didn't see anything to give me that impression. If the offense can put together some decent drives to keep the D fresh, and we get a few big plays or turnovers, we will win.

George Thomas just tweeted that 20k tickets have already been sold for the game. Add in students (who always show up in force for the first game, if none of the others) and this crowd will be huge.

Rankings have nothing to do with RPI.

I wonder if this will be enough to bump us into the "receiving votes" category in the next NSCAA poll.

Capi, D'Orazio, and Chisholm all cut. Wouldn't be surprised to see one or two end up on a practice squad.

I'm just happy they're finally putting out a TV commercial on days outside the Super Bowl. They should follow up with some 15 ads on Youtube.

Now on to Maryland, who is ranked #6.

Just to be clear, as of the latest NSCAA rankings, Georgetown is 12th, and Akron isn't receiving a single vote. Win today and it goes a long way toward remedying the situation.

We've hit 90+ four times this week already.

It's been 90 degrees every day in Norman for a while. It's been 90 degrees in Akron every day for a while. Humidity is just about the same, too. Plus, something like a third of our roster is from Florida. The heat is not any more of an issue for Akron than it is for Oklahoma.

Say you're a high school kid. Say you get five opportunities to skip class for a day with no consequences while getting treated like royalty. Wouldn't you take all five opportunities even if you had no intention of going to some of the universities?

Didn't Pitt lose to YSU a few years ago? Surprised they agreed to play them again.

UA's political science program is highly regarded, thanks to its association with the Bliss Institute. I don't know if the criminal justice track sees much benefit from that, though.

Supposedly, that was one of the areas that improved the most under the last AD.

I'm thinking of switching back to TWC from Uverse. At least then I'd have a decent network speed and the ability to use my own modem/router.

Law school enrollment is up 26%.

That's a shame. That's a loser's attitude. When you have a shot for a statement win, you need to give yourself the best chance to do just that. Reminds me of when JD Brookhart's Zips played OSU. The defense played the best game in Zips history, but the offense was so vanilla that we had no shot because JD didn't want to show his hand for games down the road. He admitted that he intentionally held the offense back because he figured the team had no chance.
