  1. I beleive we had some quality opponents on the schedule, but they backed out at the last minute leaving us to scramble to fill up the schedule. Those teams were afraid to come to JAR and play Akron at home. They refused to do home & home deals with us.
  2. If we keep winning, there is no reason for people to stop voting for us. If we lose votes even if we don't lose, the people voting forus can get in trouble if we write to the people in charge of the polls because that has happened to voting members before
  3. We have reached the 1,000 member mark on Zipsnation. I realise that many of the accounts are spam, but this is still an important milestone that at least deserves a post on here.
  4. Good. Lets get those local guys. Stick by them through the whole recruiting process. Get them in the Zips mindset now. We lose too many local kids to OSU and other "big-name" schools. I bet UA would get more media coverage if they had more players from the Akron area.
  5. I think I found their message board website. It is Peaymania.comI am still waiting for the confirmation e-mail from their sign-up page so I that can actually view the site.I am also assuming that their mascot is one of those things from Fraggle Rock.
  6. We're better than half the teams ahead of us in the Mid-major poll. Seriously, what does it take to get some respect around here? Man, I feel like Rodney Dangerfield.
  7. We would never get somone extremely good. That would give us a chance at an at-large, and you know the MAC can't have an at-large. That would force the selection committee to actually have to think about our conference.
  8. It's almost time. Does anybody get ESPNU, and if so, could you keep us updated?
  9. One of the things that could be done for relatively cheap is to completely re-do the seating. No chair-backs behind the baskets, instead put bleachers there. There should be no upper chair-backs either. The lower side sections are never full, so move the people on the upper reserved side down and fill the entire lower bowl while increasing the overall capacity by putting more bleachers up top. It wouldn't be that expensive and requires no structural alterations.
  10. That is still last week's poll. Notice that UCLA hasn't dropped from #3 on the poll you linked, which they certainly will do. Hmm. They updated the teams' records, so I thought it was the new poll.
  11. Nevermind. The AP poll is already out. It's right here.We still have an entire two votes. Right now, I don't think we have earned anything more than that either. Our only good win is over an average Oral Roberts team. They are the only team we have beaten with an RPI under 100.We have no respect right now and have no way of earning any, just yet. That won't change unless we go build up a huge winning streak going into the MAC tourney. Beating Toledo is the key to winning out in the MAC. If we can get past them, combined with the way we are playing right now, we should cruise to the championship game in Cleveland. We will never get respect unless we can make it to the "Big Dance" and win a few games there, for multiple years on a row.
  12. Tonight will be an exciting one, then. So many things to keep track of with so many implications.
  13. So... anyone know at what time the poll comes out? It does come out on Mondays, right?
  14. If you asked Lebron, he would say it was because he was surrounded by Dambrot and his teammates.
  15. That's not good for us unless OU beats Toledo. Then it would be huge. I don't know if OU simply collapsed under pressure or just had an off game, but this is very suprising. It is like they are handing us the MAC East.
  16. I think we should assign four different people who usually sit on the South end over to the North side every game. It looks like all they need is a leader or two to get things going. Plus there would be more syncronization between the different groups.
  17. Anemic?! Your'e joking right? I don't know about the North end, but we were packed together like sardines on the South end. We couldn't get more people in there without busting the bleachers. Maybe if the Administration gave us the one lower side behind the player's benches, sold the seats behind the baskets, and we combined both the North and South sections together in one huge group we would've looked better on TV. I agree about the people with reserved tix never showing up. I absolutely hate that, but I hate it more when the majority of people who do show up don't even cheer once for the entire length of the game. All they do is . After the non-sellout today, I have my doubts about getting a sellout at any game other than OU. Even the Bracketbuster will only have around 4,000 people show up at this rate.
  18. Holy crap! I leave the board for 3 hours to go to the game, and the board if overflowing with spam.
  19. All I can say right now is WOW! The Zips win this one BIG! I'm sure no one here thought we would hold WMU under 40 points. That's just insane. How many rebounds did J. Wood have? I think he's back to the J. Wood we remember from high school. That's a good thing.Quade had 6 blocked shots in the first half, I think. That's awesome.I loved the "Rome" sign. Look out for more new signs at the next home game.On the topic of signs, the Druuuuuuuuuuuu thing was great. How did the Rowdies look/sound on TV? I know we sold out both lower sections.I'll add more later. What did everyone else think?
  20. Awesome! We recruit to get players like him early. Show him that we are interested in him, and don't back off if he gets other offers to bigger schools. Loyalty is often when recruiting because the "BCS" schools will back off in a hurry at the first sign of trouble, or at the prospect of getting someone better. Of course, being a successful team on the field can help attract prospects too.
  21. Its a problem on a lot of message boards. Not much we can do about it at this time, but we're aware it is increasing. The fact that it is increasing is a sign that this website is becoming more popular. A small change in the registration process would probably be enough to stop the spambots for a while.
  22. Unfortunately that article/blurb was published more because Williams went to Buchtel, not because he is going to Akron. On the bright side, if we get more city-series athletes on the team, we might get more local coverage. The same goes for geting athletes from the Cleveland area; we might get some TV news coverage if there was a bigger presence of Clevelanders on the team. Recruiting locally increases exposure because people want to know how the local boys are doing. Getting a bunch of kids from Florida won't do anything for exposure around here, and the same thing happens with 2/3 of your recruiting class coming from Pennsylvania. On the bright side, we have to be huge in Pittsburgh by now.
  23. Hopefully the competition at this position will cause a few players to step up their game and really pull away from the pack. Some people who don't make it can be moved to another position and others will probably transfer.
  24. Goddard's in. This game has been over for a while.
  25. Does anybody know if we get something if the Zips score 100+ on the road?
