  1. So you mean it will be a bowl? A high school stadium, no matter how nice, just won't cut it.
  2. Just talking smack. They already know that they will lose on Tuesday.
  3. Good idea with the New Member thing. I haven't seen any spam today, which is a good sign. I understand about the IPB upgrade thing. If it is not possible, that's fine. I was just throwing out suggestions. I didn't realise that this version came with the server set. Thanks a million for keeping Zipsnation running smoothly!
  4. Since the game is likely going to be a sellout, you will only see actual UA students in the student sections for this one. If this game doesn't get over 5,000 people into the JAR, nothing will for the rest of the season.
  5. If we beat Toledo on Saturday, our RPI will make a jump, possibly into the high 80's. Playing the rest of the MAC west really hurt us though. I know we have beaten them all thus far, but remember that before we played them our RPI was 98. Five wins in a row and we only move up two spots. It killed our SOS. The only way to get better is to win every game. We will see what happens at Toledo. After that, our schedule gets really difficult with games at Can't State, Miami, Duquesne, and Buffalo, plus Ohio at home.
  6. MAC East:#76 Ohio #96 Akron #104 Can't State #127 Miami #221 Buffalo #251 Bowling Green MAC West:#98 Toledo#148 Western Michigan#239 Ball State#253 Central Michigan#255 Eastern Michigan#298 Northern IllinoisPretty Much what you would expect. With the exception of Toledo and Western Michigan, the West clearly sucks and is dragging our conference down as a whole.
  7. Attendance:3,327 OK, so it looked empty. Remember that about 500 of those are corporate-owned seats with no one sitting in them.
  8. Thanks! I wonder why I didn't think to check GoZips.
  9. Does anyone know where I can find a copy of the press release online?
  10. As I understand it, the hand-railings are the policy. No railings, no beer. There might be other factors, but that is the main reason cited for not having beer in the Rubber Bowl.
  11. I agree that having visual confirmation won't completely stop the spam, but it is a start. I'm sure some of the spammers are just bots. Either way, I'm sick of having to sift through 10-15 spams every other day. Doing it for e-mail is bad enough.
  12. Wow. Great job! We MUST have a bowl. Anything else just won't have the right college atmosphere. Also, there should be hand-rails so we can have beer inside the stadium. Having beer at a football game right across from all the fraternities would guarantee a high student turnout to every game.
  13. http://blogs.ohio.com/rasor/Rasor has the list. There are also three players not on Scout or Rivals. They are:• Brian Brikowski, LB, Freehold Township, N.J.• Deni Odofin, DL, Endicott, N.Y.• Ryan Simpson, DL, Xenia, OhioJarvis Givens has not signed, but there is a player that has yet to be announced.
  14. I think they are saving everything for some press conference at 3:00 today when they announce everyone all at once. Rasor is going there and should come back with a full list of signed students. I really can't wait. We should know by 5:00 exactly who will be on the team.
  15. http://www.rpiforecast.com/Try this. Just click on Akron to see detailed charts and stuff.
  16. So, any update on who has signed yet?
  17. We are favored by 17.5 in the ABJ. Sagarin has us as 18.5 point favorites.
  18. Do you guys also have to constantly refresh a page after you go to it?Why doesn't the page refresh on it's own?I'm always refreshing pages on this site.Is it just me? There was a post in between there before. I guess it got deleted. It wasn't directed at you.
  19. It sure will be interesting tomorrow. I'll be online at 9:00 tomorrow to see how we are doing.
  20. Woah, talk about awkward. We definetly need an upgrade to the registration process.
  21. I think if we were to join a BCS conference, the Big East would be a good fit. I am suprised at this because it basically means they are admitting that we have the best field-house within their geographical area. It could also be because we are technically a neutral site, thus not giving one team a home-field advantage. It is very good news for the Akron, though.
  22. Try Rivals. They stay up-to-date a bit better than Scout. If not, try here. I'm sure somebody will keep us informed.
  23. They're up to version 2.2 now. This site uses version 1.3, but there are too many things going on in Zips sports right now to shut down this site and do the upgrade, if they upgrade at all. Maybe over the summer someone can do it, or they could do it now and we could use UofAZips.com until they get everything back up and running. But if they don't want to do the upgrade, please do SOMETHING about the spam.
  24. That makes SEVEN *** recruits for this class. Just wait until tomorrow, hopefully we will get even more. This is the best recruiting class for any team in the MAC since UCF had nine ***s in 2003! To play devil's advocate here........................UCF then went 0-11 in 2004, and despite going 8-5 in 2005 they were just 4-8 again in 2006. They are a total of 11-24 since signing those 9 three star players. The point is that the school with the top class in the MAC usually doesn't win the MAC in the next couple of years despite the ranking by the recruiting services. In my eyes Akron has a great class. However, Miami University has an exceptionally great class and they are not rated that high on the recruiting services in terms of three star players. They have several players that I really believe should be rated higher. And playing devil's advocate to that, you never know how a high school prospect is going to turn out on the playing field in college. Fair enough. Honestly, I am just using this as an excuse to celebrate after a dissapointing season last year. I know the recruiting services are not all that reliable when it comes to how they rank prospects, but I have seen a few of these guys play and I can see them doing very well in college football.
