  1. Trade Bowling Green for them.
  2. Oregon State is the worst team in the PAC-12, but that's still good enough to make them a dangerous team on occasion. I think they're slightly better than Detroit. I see our biggest problem coming from their 6'4" guard Roberto Nelson, but I think Q can neutralize him on defense. We really need to avoid turnovers and play with confidence.
  3. Detroit's points per possession dropped quite a bit in the second half. Our D was better, but they had more chances to score. It balanced out.
  4. 5'11" 175lb JUCO CB Kris Givens has reportedly signed his LOI to play at Akron. Not too much information out there that I can find. Here are his highlights: http://www.hudl.com/athlete/o/1763207/highlights/25497391 And here are his stats: http://stats.njcaa.org/sports/fball/2013-1.../krisgivens6nhk
  5. You'd think so. But if you watch a Big Ten game, you'll realize that it's not true at all.
  6. I think ORU is a better coached team than Detroit is. I also think we match up well at every position. I'm more concerned about the possibility of having Horizon League officials. When was the last time we played a Horizon League team where we weren't getting screwed by the refs?
  7. The only commit we have for the future is Josh Williams at St Vincent St Mary's. Don't know if they play any teams in central Ohio.
  8. I tend to agree with this statement: "Akron plays like an AAU summer league team - a disciplined squad with equal talent would beat them by double digits." It stems from the lack of a true floor general. It's great that Q, Melo, and Evans can all be the primary ball handler, but there's no one out there that is actually running the offense.
  9. What was with all the errant passes by Zips tonight? Flying into the stands, out of bounds, or to places 10+ feet from any player. It was an epidemic.
  10. Fifty two fouls called. Fifty two.
  11. Or pretty easy, since Ivy schools do not grant athletic scholarships. While they do give out need-based scholarships, it might not be enough to cover everything.
  12. A local player I'm surprised we haven't offered is Cornerback Stephen Mosley from Buchtel.
  13. DE Joseph Kramer, from Kettering Alter HS
  14. Clay Caruso, a LB out of Strongville. Half the schools in the MAC have offered him, but not the Zips.
  15. Not expecting much of a crowd tonight, with the weather and it being winter break for the students.
  16. Have some early Christmas cheer.
  17. Never mind. It's #44, of course.
  18. What's his number?
  19. Well if it isn't Mr. Hagen, here to spread the good news.
  20. http://who.is/domain-history/akronfc.com You could always send an email to mwhitehead(at)mlsnet.com or john.sullivan(at)mlssoccer.com to ask them why they own the domain.
  21. Jack Alpert from Cuyahoga Heights, the same school that gave us Zach D'Orazio, might be worth a look. As a smaller program, talent from CHHS can get overlooked in favor of prospects from the bigger schools in the Cleveland area. I'm trying to think of off-the-radar players within an hour or two from campus.
  22. I was thinking that he wanted a veteran frontcourt in the game while he experimented with the backcourt.
  23. Tressel promoted to "Executive Vice President"
  24. The ZipsAthletics Youtube account just uploaded about 30 videos of various athletics personnel discussing this thing. It would be great if they would make it into a playlist, to make it easy to just watch all at once.
  25. Temple, with the rest of the AAC, is facing a loss of millions of dollars in BCS bowl revenue after this season, now that they're being relegated to being one of the little guys. Expect teams like Cinci and UConn to follow suit shortly.
