  1. Perhaps it's the results from this?
  2. Darn. Guess I can skip it, then. How's this for future goals: WIN. That's all they need to say.
  3. Do you know if there is an actual press conference scheduled? Also, just a thought about adding a new sport... UA has been very busy developing the old Buchtel Field on Brown Street into something. I've noticed basketball courts, tennis courts, and soccer fields being put in, and there's room for even more stuff. Fits in if we're adding Field Hockey. Of course, Gymnastics doesn't require new facilities, since it would be in the JAR.
  4. Already happened. Another possibility is that we are adding a new sport for Title IX, which would certainly be "strategic" in the context of keeping the athletic department in compliance. Gymnastics or Field Hockey would be the best bets.
  5. Just wild a guess, but maybe the athletic department is getting reorganized so that the AD reports to someone different. A certain Vice President, perhaps.
  6. Are there any high school senior prospects you'd like to see the Zips offer for the upcoming 2014 recruiting class? The Zips coaching staff can't be everywhere, and you hear all the time how some player got overlooked that turns out to be a star at some smaller school, but only held one scholarship offer.
  7. Aside from the money, it's easier to recruit from a conference that can send a team to back-to-back BCS games, and produced the #1 pick in the NFL and a legitimate Heisman candidate.
  8. I wouldn't expect anything major to be announced.
  9. I can see us switching to more of a hybrid defense, with an LB being used as a pass rusher off the edge.
  10. Heard that he will be making an official visit to campus next week. He's been getting interest from some BCS schools and his commitment to Akron is reportedly "soft", so hopefully things go well.
  11. Chuck Martin had great success at Grand Valley State, where he took over for Brian Kelly, but the program was in great shape already. Don't know how he'll handle taking over a program that's not already in great shape.
  12. No. That's the perception of the MAC in Big Ten country. Nationally, the MAC gains more respect than it does in its own footprint. Nationally, it is knows as a decent mid-major conference that produces a relatively high amount of NFL talent compared to its peers.
  13. I had some very limited interaction with him. I thought he acted like he was too good to associate with normal fans. Maybe he was just shy and that was his way of hiding it. Who can say?
  14. I tend to agree with you on him eventually becoming a pass rusher. Needs to put on a little more weight, but not so much that he loses his speed.
  15. Nearly all of our commitments have come in bunches. The group from Beaver Falls, PA, the two DBs from Florida, and now Williams and Junius. With a little luck, we might see one or two more local prospects commit in the next few days. True snowball effects are rare in recruiting, though. PJ Fleck appears to have done it at WMU with the 2014 class though, so anything's possible.
  16. I'm not sure what's up with this team. They have two of the top scorers in the entire country, but just can't put together a win. Maybe they need to spread the ball around a bit more?
  17. 6'2" 180lb St. Vincent-St. Mary LB Travonte Junius has committed to the Zips! Scout profile Rivals profile ESPN profile
  18. HUGE get for coach Bowden and coach Amato! Posting this from a mobile connection, will update with more info later tonight.
  19. He did the same thing for the 2013 and 2014 classes. It didn't land us a single top recruit. I think it's a waste of resources, until we at least have gone to a bowl game. Focus on getting "diamonds in the rough" like Jordan Lynch or Eric Fisher. Neither of them had offers from any other school.
  20. Isn't it mandatory for students in the music program?
  21. Those "big high school games" generally bring in around 10,000 less fans than the Zips games. I think they'll be fine.
  22. http://espn.go.com/college-sports/football...leon-richardson According to Michigan recruiting guy @TheD_Zone, 6'3" 265lb OL Leon Richardson from Walled Lake Western HS has committed to the Zips!
  23. I think having two byes in the last three weeks helped him out in a big way.
  24. Great win. Best season in a long, long time. Have to great for the Brookhart-era seniors to finish on a positive note.
