  1. PD article: Zips feeling the heat Hirschman still not completely cleared to play. "Doubtful" for saturday.
  2. At home.
  3. It's time, I think, for a major overhaul to the depth chart. We have players that don't really belong in the schemes we're running, and others that are starting ahead of more talented individuals. I understand that the coaches value experience, but it's time to play younger guys at the skill positions that fit what we're trying to do. This might sound radical, but if I were coach, I would bench Kyle Pohl and Jawon Chisholm. Pohl is so banged up that he looks nothing like playmaker we had saw earlier in his career, and Chisholm isn't fast enough to hit the holes when running north-south or to turn the corner when running east-west. Who do we replace them with? If Hirschman is cleared to play, he should start. He has looked better than Pohl all season. At RB, we have a half-dozen young speedy guys that aren't being used properly. Find one that can handle being the #1 back and then use him like Can't uses Dri Archer.
  4. Today, actually.
  5. I figured they would have kept him until they lost to Akron.
  6. Jeff Bowden, that is. Aside from Zips MVP Zach Paul, special teams has been awful at best, and an abomination at worst. Is there nobody on the roster with enough sense to call a fair catch when you have three guys bearing down on you looking to pancake your ass into the ground? Is there anybody else that is willing to man up and block those guys? Does anybody know that taking a knee in the endzone gets us better field position than an 18-yard return from said endzone? Do we have anybody out there that actually wants to hit the kick returner when he's returning the ball, instead of falling near his feet and grabbing at his ankles; what about not falling at him for an ankle tackle when he's just now catching the ball and hasn't even made a move yet?
  7. Mike Lombardi looked like he wanted to crawl up in a corner and die when it looked like the Browns would win yesterday.
  8. As far as need goes, I heard that ticket sales are up. Obviously not enough to force the issue of a new arena, but that's always a good sign.
  9. Plain Dealer article: http://www.cleveland.com/sports/college/in...ips_to_fle.html
  10. I think it's more that they're still undefeated while just about every other potential BCS buster from the beginning of the season has lost by now. That and Purdue was the 2nd Big Ten team that they beat this season, when it's generally assumed that teams like NIU only beat one BCS team per year and that they don't have the depth to beat more than one in a season.
  11. I'm not so convinced that Ohio is very good this season. All three of their wins were at home, and none against good competition. Their only road game saw them getting smacked around by Louisville, and the only game that they won by more than six points was against Austin Peay. They struggled against Marshall and North Texas, but pulled out wins because of home-field advantage. The only thing we really know about Ohio is that they're good enough to squeak by mediocre teams at home.
  12. Not as many as you'd think.
  13. I'm tired of being reminded about how terrible the team was in the past. I don't want to remember that crap. It's time to look forward, and stop comparing things to a team that set the lowest bar in the history of sports. It's time to expect to beat some of these teams. Why isn't that a reasonable expectation?
  14. Pohl gets hurt.
  15. 2-minute drill here. Get points, and then get the ball back after half. Come on Zips.
  16. Zips front seven is having a field day. Offense needs to start scoring again. Get some insurance points.
  17. We. Will. Win. This. Game.
  18. Some AK-Rowdies are trying to organize a carpool from the JAR. I'm not sure if I'll be able to make this game, although I really hope to. Also, it shouldn't take 3 1/2 hours to get there unless you're taking the scenic route through Steubenville or something. It's 2 1/2 hours from Akron.
  19. They'll be at EJ Thomas Hall on Dec 5th. Now this is more like it. Something that college students will be excited about (especially college of engineering students, I imagine).
  20. If the first plays are scripted, say the first two drives of each game on offense, then here is what we're getting out of that strategy: 11 plays, 39 yards, Punt 3 plays, 9 yards, Punt 3 plays, 4 yards, Punt 2 plays, -9 yards, INT 4 plays, 12 yards, Punt 8 plays, 26 yards, Punt 3 plays, 0 yards, INT 4 plays, 15 yards, INT Maybe, instead of scripting plays, Akron's gameplan should be to just take what the defense gives them, like what they do for the rest of the game. Read the D, and adjust to it instead of trying to force things.
  21. This game served as a wake-up call. I can tell you that the players, especially the upperclassmen, are very angry about how the team played. They were visibly agitated after the game.
  22. http://www.ohio.com/news/marla-ridenour-li...-state-1.431593 I have to agree with almost everything stated in this article.
  23. To be even more clear, those numbers are the attendance numbers. There is no discussion.
  24. Yes, let's be honest. Any win would have excited Joe Akron, one week after catching his attention in Ann Arbor. Also, our attendance vs JMU was 19,653, and vs ULL it was 18,809. You don't think that proving that we can win a game or two, even against MAC teams, won't bump things up past 20,000?
