Am I the only one amazed by the buzz kill of one article by the Canton Repository? I'm not on the Tressel bandwagon, but it is kind of funny that everyone assumes it's not happening because of this article. Ian owned up to making up the "Tressel is on campus today" rumor. Just because he wasn't here today now there's suddenly no way he would be hired as coach. The writer obviously doesn't know that much about UA if he wonders why they would host it in the meeting rooms at the stadium. I also love how everyone assumes he's right since he quoted "an unnamed source close to Tressel" as his information. Do I think Tressel is a realistic option... eh, not really. Is it impossible because of the info in that article? No.

Parking lot in front of the Info is closed with someone watching the entrance and only about 10 cars in the lot. Saw this and the camera man with my own two eyes.

No reporter but there was one person with a Fox 8 News Camera on campus about 20 minutes ago shooting stills of the Union, the Stadium and the Fieldhouse, probably for a background image for an upcoming report.

They had their meeting...according to several players on the team, it was a run of the mill meeting discussing things going forward for the team. Nothing specific was mentioned in terms of who we are targeting for head coach. "We had a meeting and we weren't told anything other than 'coaches are being evaluated'" -- Clayton Moore Owned.

Are you positive it was a grin or was he simply laughing at you?

OK,So what are the ideal qualifications for the next Akron coach?
bandzip replied to Lee Adams's topic in Akron Zips Football
Man, I had completely forgotten about that. -
Does it matter? All they're saying is Akron is "targeting" him. Doesn't mean he would coach here regardless. Everybody needs to chill and let this play out instead of clinging to every single rumor or posting the same thing over and over. I seriously doubt the number of message board posts or members in a facebook group supporting a particular candidate are going to factor into the decision in any way.

Yep, changed a ton... He reiterated they would be playing Can't's fight song and had no comment on basketball. Interesting how no one even commented about the fight song after the game. Apparently it wasn't nearly as big of a deal as you are making it out to be. I'm also going to go out on a limb and say that Detroit's fight song probably isn't "Dont' Stop Believing."

Bring back the defective remote control car! The cracker eating contest they had at the first exhibition game last year was hands down the most entertaining. After unicycle plate lady of course...

I thought the turning point was when Jacquemain got kicked off the team, then Rodgers tore his ACL soon after. Even with Nicely starting as a true freshman we won two more games that year including Can't. 3-9 with your third string quarterback and staying competitive in about every game doesn't seem so bad in retrospect.

DCI to kick off 2012 season at the Info
bandzip replied to bandzip's topic in General UA & Campus Discussion
Doesn't bother me a bit. To some of those drum corp guys it's the equivalent of "Akron U." -
Drum Corps International is starting the 2012 season with Innovations in Brass at Infocision Stadium.

CP on front page of ESPNU website

Link to the article in case it's off the front page when you get there. -
With 7:50 left in the first half we get the first reference to Akron and Can't being only 14 miles apart.

Guess we're going to agree to disagree.

Lemme get this straight. You leave at halftime because you're embarrassed by the band, then come back with your friends to watch the football team that has won two games in two years?

Help! Give me some reasons why the Zips will beat Can't
bandzip replied to Lee Adams's topic in Akron Zips Football
Props for actually coming up with some legitimate reasons. -
Oh Zach,Paragraph 1 - Yep. Every band in the history of man kind has done a pregame show because they're self absorbed students who want everyone to think they're awesome. Because sitting there listening to rap songs for another 10 minutes would be infinitely more awesome. If you hate pregame so much stay in the parking lot and skip it.Paragraph 2- Music Ed majors are the only one's required to do band. That's maybe 35 people tops. I guess the other 150 or so are just there for the phys ed credit and to watch terrible football? Taking bowling or pool is a way easier way to get it.Paragraph 3 - They play way more then the average MAC Band, they play like all the big schools. They've also been voted best pep band in the MAC by the media two of the last four years. Paragraph 4 - Yeah, a lot of you have moved to the other side and their are still a TON of empty seats on both sides. The group is auditioned at the beginning of the year so to say they keep taking up more seats is false, it's the same every game. Regardless there are empty seats to take up so it's a mute point.Paragraph 5 - The idea with the "You can't do that" cheer is to annoy the crap out of the opponents which it does. Half of the defensive cheers break down to yelling "OOOOOHHHH" anyway, so I don't see how it affects our teams rhythm at all. Considering the band starts most of the cheers after the first 4 possessions or so I think it helps the atmosphere more then hurting it. If you're referring to the soccer game then I agree completely. We aren't allowed to play when the ball is in play so the band is never interrupting the cheers during the play of the game. If you're upset about a box of pizza that band members are "shoving in your face" from the opposite side of the gym since you said yourself you don't sit there anymore then you have issues.I'm not totally against the Rowdies. I think those guys that are there about every game cheering are awesome. You know, the one's that go over and joke with Mr. Karriker or join in on the cheers that the band starts and aren't whining how the band is negatively affecting the environment. If there are empty seats students should be allowed to sit there and join in.
