Well, using that logic... Akron beat Can't who beat Ohio who beat Marshall who beat West Virginia who beat UConn. Akron also beat Youngstown who beat Butler. Looks like we're National Champs regardless of who wins tonight.

There are side doors to all of the buildings and people walk in while other people are leaving. One day a couple years ago I walked out of my room on the second floor of Honors and some guy who was just wandering around looking confused asked me if that was Simmons Hall and where he could find the admissions office! People used to sneak their friends in all the time because they didn't feel like taking two seconds to sign them in at the front desk and I'm sure they still do it as much as ever. Obviously based on what happened yesterday they really need to find a way to solve the problem. Three gunmen in a college dorm could do some serious damage.

FWIW I just polled 10 of my friends on facebook, and before you ask only four of them were in marching band. All of them are current students except two who recently graduated. Every single one said Akron U when typing the words to the fight song. That's the way it was originally written, there's a ABJ article on it somewhere, it's hanging up in Guzzetta Hall. I know the marching band still sings "Akron U." Some comments they had about the situation include: - "OLD people call it that. Like people at my church who are alumni from YEARS ago. Why would that be a problem?" - "Weren't the original words Akron U? Why would they try and change it?" - "The website actually says "Akron true." They also changed "Zip goes the Zippers" to "Zip goes the Ziiiiiippppss." Those both sound stupid. - "Wait, so it's bad to call it Akron U?" I know, I've seen the guys on ohio.com using it as a kind of derogatory thing. I've also met at least 20 people including three in Chicago who called it Akron U and were rooting for us to beat Notre Dame. At least with the younger generation, no one really considers it a big deal.

Just got back from the game. The first half was the best officiating I've seen at any MAC game mens or womens all year. The second half was the worst officiating I have seen all year. Hope it isn't a sign of things to come this week. With about 10 minutes left in the second half while we were still up there was something like 15 fouls called on Akron and 6 on Toledo for the half. One ref simply refused to call any fouls on Toledo and several times there were plays right in front of her called by a ref on the other side of the court. On the other end she called at least two fouls on Akron when there was literally no contact. With a couple minutes left Ruper got clobbered while shooting and they didn't call a foul. She went down holding her knee and crying and I never saw her get up off the floor. She kind of crawled over towards the bench and sat there on the floor the rest of the game clutching her leg. Everyone was silent except one Akron fan who was absolutely laying into the refs over that one. I've never before said officiating cost us a game, but this time I can confidently say it did. The Zips definately deserved this win.

Wow, thought you'd stop by Athens while you were in Uhrichsville? First time I've ever seen someone mention my little hometown anywhere. You'd think more people would have heard of the clay capital of the world.

Wow! Too bad I had class tonight or I'd have made a trip. This is absolutely insane.

Don't blame Zeke for the team never working the ball to him. Sure he could be more aggressive but tonight he played defense about 90% of perfect and was in great position to take the ball a dozen times while only getting half that. Good game by the Zips tonight! Zeke played some great D but was definitely off offensively and it had nothing to do with the rest of the team. They worked the ball to him almost exclusively the first five minutes and he kept turning it over, was unable to get off a shot or shot it off the bottom of the rim. He also had a couple of silly fouls out by the three point line. When we took him out McKnight and Nik really stepped up in terms of scoring. The last couple games I think Bardo has been playing really well. I know he isn't really a scoring threat but he sprints down the court every possession and had a nice block when Western was starting to make a run. Honestly I think he gives the most effort of anyone on the team. As far as consistency there is only one thing you can count on: The refs will suck. I know you aren't supposed to complain about them when you win, but they were absolutely terrible both ways tonight.

Another fantastic article. Too bad there is some troll over there claiming that Akron plays negative football and just packs it in to win at all costs. Couldn't be further from the truth. Besides being , the best thing about Akron is their style of play. Right. Cause you score 7 goals on Michigan by packing it in....

You don't have to sub out the whole starting lineup for the bench. Give Euton a couple of McKnight's minutes here and there. Have Egner fill in for Diggs instead of moving McClanahan to the 3. I understand keeping them in if the game is on the line but we had a double digit lead the entire second half. As it stands they've essentially had a year thrown away. Egner has played a grand total of 7 minutes since MAC play started. Euton? 2.

20 point game. Why are we not seeing any Euton or Egner?

Does the announcer not realize his mic is still on during the little breaks? He keeps giving these exasperated sighs right into his microphone.

Abreu was great at the beginning of the game, especially that drive where he faked the pass and everyone bit. He scored our first 6 points and was the only reason it wasn't completely out of hand in the first five minutes. After that though he made a TON of boneheaded plays and passes. How many passes did we throw to no one tonight and uncontested layups did we miss to turn the ball over? Add to that the fact that OU drove to the basket at will, gave us fits with their zone defense, shot over 50% on threes and some of the terrible calls by the refs and it was like watching that Cavs game last night.

Wow. This game is intense.
