Sorry Max, I just know the numbers by looking at the boxscore. I watched one game when Romeo played, that was enough D league for me.Thanks. Did he look slow and did he get to post up? -
21 minutes, four points. All on free throws. Two turnovers, two blocks. Team lost 126-106.How did he do? -
I used to really enjoy listening to Frenchy. After the Miami of Ohio (football) game this year and all the ref complaining, if there is another option other than Reghi, I'll take it. I can only take so much. Mac refs suck, always have, always will, paint me another picture. I tune in for entertainment, I don't enjoy that. If this changes, someone let me know.Frenchy was as scathing about the refs as I've ever heard. At one point following the Harney travel and the makeup 3 second call, he stated something to the effect of "these refs should never be allowed to officiate a game ever again".
I forgot to mention in the Marshall thread. I got to witness someone moving on offense without the ball. Deji lost his defender, cut to the hoop, (I would give credit here for the player that passed the ball, but I missed it) got the pass, and dunked it. More of that please (moving without the ball). Play of the year.I keep using the words "Lack of Focus" to describe our offensive woes. We must get it figured out. -

CNN analysis: Some college athletes play like adults, read like 5th-graders
As a graduate student at UNC-Greensboro, Willingham researched the reading levels of 183 UNC-Chapel Hill athletes who played football or basketball from 2004 to 2012. She found that 60% read between fourth- and eighth-grade levels. Between 8% and 10% read below a third-grade level.
"So what are the classes they are going to take to get a degree here? You cannot come here with a third-, fourth- or fifth-grade education and get a degree here," she told CNN.
In December, the Drake Group, which pushes for academic integrity in collegiate sports, organized a lobbying trip to Washington to push for an amendment to the College Education Act of 1965. Director Allen Sack said he wants to see a College Athlete Protection Act -- legislation that would keep athletes on the bench as freshmen if they are academically more than one standard deviation lower than the average student admitted to the university.
"I think (the NCAA) needs to be looked at. I think they need to be reined in," Dent said.
Mary Willingham went on the trip to Washington and said she came back feeling that they could make some progress in bringing change.
Others aren't so confident that a beast as big as collegiate athletics can be tamed.

I wish I knew about THIS before the game. A couple of my friends watched and said they liked it. I would have turned to anything not to hear Dustburger say "just get us to the fourth quarter" one more time.

I like when you click on "betting" (in blue on the results and schedule green bar) on this link because you can go back and look at the previous spreads and the money line. You can also see their record ATS. Telling me that some team that is favored by 10 has an 82.6 percent chance to win is pretty useless...to me.I know some of you don't like TeamRankings -
BSU is a 5 point underdog to the mighty Zips of Akron.Ball State is the only truly horrible team in the MAC this season. -
I'm interested to watch Eastern play, I'm guessing I'm going to be a fan of the way the coach lines them up, but the Zips should match up well with them if they can hit their 3's (insert Rodney Dangerfield look here).

Thanks. Too lazy to look up who posted broken nose, but when he walked by me, I took (and posted) this photo. Didn't seem like a nose from the where he was applying the pressure and the fact he wasn't holding his head back. Hope he is okay.Speaking of Harney, I hear that he did not suffer a broken nose at the end of the Marshall game as some had guessed from the amount of blood on the court. He apparently suffered a gash above the eye that required several stitches to close upIf you look close enough, you can see blood on the back/top of his head. I think the blood pooled on the floor when he was on his back. Not sure as the incident happened on the other side of the floor from me.

I agree, I've said it a lot, if they just changed when they started ranking teams (near wk 6), we would have a better chance of the deserving teams being at the top instead of teams like Michigan being ranked so high when they played the Zips. I love my Zips, but no way after that game this year do I have UM anywhere near the top 25. The new system will have the same flaw.Be careful of what you wish for. The BCS worked perfectly this season. Not only were the two best teams matched up, but for the most part the BCS games were great.BTW I don't even care if it means ANYTHING, can we start doing this next year?
I'll volunteer to come up with the images and stand there holding them up. It just makes me smile.

Maybe he and TB could have lunch next offseason to talk about it.I came away respecting Malzahn's offensive genius even more. KP16 and the Tiger's Marshall are such different QBs that I'm not sure how much Auburn does could transfer to the Zip playbook.I wouldn't rule anything out with TB, I always have that statement in the back of my mind, "we need to find a way to win in the MAC."

Great game. Thank you MSU.
I love McKinzy's motor, he can play on my D any day.
PS Anybody think at the end of the game FSU could have used Moses?

How can all those 4 and 5 star recruits on defense from Columbus play so bad as a team? I'll take the Zip's staff, and recruits over those prima donnas. Sammy Watkins game is going to fit very nicely in the NFL, if he stays out of trouble. If I'm Banner, I give him a long interview. Entertaining game to watch.Yep, tOSU doubters get another year to kick them around after they lose to a lower-ranked ACC team. -
Surely you forgot what he said, no? Or are you saying you don't believe him?Surely nobody here was naive to think that old slippery lips Tressel was going to stay where he is for the next 10 years.“The commitment I’ve made to any place I’ve gone is I was going to work every day like I was going to be there forever,” he said. “So my commitment to the University of Akron, I’m going to work like this is the last place I’ll ever work. Better hurry, before Stoops swoops in.Tress is interviewing with the Browns this weekend. All the ten year olds agree...James is the man.

Take the top two receivers (most receptions) in the NFL this year, both from Florida, both played for small schools, one in Ohio, one in Michigan. You can extend it to top four and include one from California who played in Ohio also. Two out of those four played in the MAC. All three (and top four) of those STILL play for cold weather teams...and led the league. PS When you look up who led the league in receptions, you are going to be surprised.Being warm is a lot better than being cold. Some, but not many players who go from the south to the north to play are the cream of the crop. -
I'm sad that you have to type that, but I understand why you do.Disclaimer: this post is not calling to fire KD. -
I like the introduction of Akron's own Shawn "Showtime" Porter last night, who knew? He signed autographs after the game, anybody get one?
Someone shorter than KD? Image from @ZipsDan

If you don't know this story about AJ, it's worth seven minutes of your life.McCarron still has his hottie to go back to at least..... -
Here are some images I shot last night. Enjoy.

While he is at it, can he add layups? Only I can miss layups the way he does. He actually passes out of layup situations after missing a few. He has the speed to beat people to the rim, but has a finishing issue. Someone needs to show him the art of a reverse layup, that may increase his confidence. If the Zips team were a video game, and I had 10 units of "health" to distribute to improve the team, I'm not sure I would use one on CB, I would distribute elsewhere. BTW, that is the worst Marshall team that I have watched at the JAR, what happen? They used to have athletes that would shoot the lights out when they played in the MAC. Disappointing.I believe the most urgent (and potentially rewarding) issue the coaching staff should focus on is Carmelo Betancourt’s confidence, particularly with his shooting. As “Zips Win!” points out, he should be shooting 3-pointers in every spare moment of his day. I would add FTs to his agenda. If he can get up to 25-30% from behind the arc and 70% from the line, the PG situation will largely be solved.I like the introduction of Akron's own Shawn "Showtime" Porter last night, who knew? He signed autographs after the game, anybody get one?

EA of the PD writes a little on the Akron Marshall game.
Keith Dambrot said the biggest challenge right now with the Zips is building team chemistry. That aside, the game should offer a stiff challenge for Akron's defense as Marshall is averaging 84.2 points a game. The Zips inside muscle will have to flex as well, considering the Herd is one of the best rebounding teams in the nation, averaging 39.4 boards per game.
