Our QB's got "banged up" against JMU. Should we have not played them in preparation for Louisiana-Lafayette?

Best team in the B10, Michigan? Kiper and McShay debate. (must have in subscription to read) PS Columbus State honks, please save us your comments for bucknutz.com. This week is about Michigan vs Akron. The read is intended to familiarize Zips fans with the team they are playing this week. Here is one nugget: The interior of Michigan's offensive line is young and needs to improve -McShay

The Refs Cheated and the Zips Play Dirty? Or Sour Grapes?
Dr Z replied to K-Roo's topic in Akron Zips Football
We haven't won much recently, if we don't get excited when we win, when can we? Good luck the rest of the season, hope all the calls go your way from now on. PS These are the types of threads I think about during basketball season when the same Zip fans complain about the refs. Reads bad, doesn't it? -
Hirschman received plenty of help from teammates. Andrew Pratt (Green), grabbed a 68-yard touchdown pass on a fly pattern down the left side of the field where he made a tremendous adjustment to go up and get the ball. Hirschman injured his knee celebrating that effort, necessitating that Pohl, whose mobility was limited, return with his team trailing 24-21 after a James Madison field goal. source *Maybe you had tears of joy effecting your vision from the Andrew Pratt (Green) TD. PS I think the same thing happen when you grew up GP1, but there was no internet, twitter, Facebook, etc. If we didn't see it with our own eyes, or the one local newspaper writer didn't catch it, we never knew about it. I'm okay with a QB celebrating a long TD pass anyway he wants as long as he doesn't get a flag thrown on him doing it. I hope he tweaks his knee 35 more times this year celebrating the same type of TD pass.

Play to win, much more entertaining. QB's will be fine.

Tailgating Guide "Every parking lot within a mile of the stadium should have tailgating going strong. Pioneer High School (corner opposite the stadium) turns into a tailgating lot during the day of the game -- lots of RVs park there. There's a lot of fun to be had with people that aren't just from Ann Arbor there. "The best experience on a Michigan game day, especially for a packed game like this, is walking down Hoover [street] and then onto Greene Street and just seeing how many people are there. It's a sea of maize and blue, meaning the idiots wearing red stick out like sore thumbs. My favorite sign I've ever seen was the in, like, '05, when OSU came to the Big House and a bunch of M Law guys had a banner saying 'M Law: Clarett Could've Walked.'" Sounds like our kind of group! Maize N Brew knows that good tailgating involves good drinking. A few of their suggestions: Left-Hand Milk Stout Schell's Lager Lancaster Strawberry Wheat Bengali Tiger IPA Mint Juleps

I guess this was one of the games coach was speaking about when he said in the progression of the progrum, you start to win the close games late. So I'm sticking with that line for this game. Offensive line needs more practice. JMU was a well coached team, except for the clock management, which is a huge part of close games. If you don't think you can be well coached and be terrible at clock management, see Bill Cowher years before Ben. I'm still waiting on the young receivers to get more snaps for some exciting yac. Funniest line of the game, after we failed to field the kickoff following the failed two point conversion (another questionable coaching decision), fan behind me yells We need to clean up a lot, if we plan on competing in Ann Arbor.

Sounds good to me. Next step would be, not counting the likes of bud, bud light, miller, miller light etc... My JMU list: Three Floyd's Gumballhead (unique for a wheat) Thanks K92 Mönchshof Kellerbier Ayinger Bräu Weisse Maudite (My first - & recommended) Sam Adams Imperial Stout (pass) Left Handed Polestar Pilsner Jacko Travler Shandy (unique for a pumpkin)

My bad, you are correct.

I wonder if tomorrow's program offers any hints?

Back The Zips - New Basketball Marketing Theme
Dr Z replied to Staton14's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Akron basketball marketing could be worse. -
Other than rooting for my Zips, I enjoy watching top talent in the MAC that goes on to play in the NFL. I love rooting for MAC players in the NFL. Here is a nice list by hustlebelt of all the MAC talent playing in the NFL. There are 71 players from current MAC schools on NFL rosters. The intention of this thread is to follow this years players in the MAC that have the chance to play in the NFL. The thread will also inform ZN members of the top talent to watch as the season progresses. I was wondering if there are other ZN members that enjoy following and would enjoy posting updates throughout the season. Khalil Mack Buffalo Unfortunately, or fortunately, however you look at it, the Zips do not play Buffalo this year. We won't get a chance to see them defend a supposed future first round pick Khalil Mack. Here is a nice mention about his effort last week in Columbus. Mel Kiper has Khalil #14 overall on his big board. (you need an in sub to see this link) Dri Archer Ken+ State Dri passed on the NFL draft last year in favor of a Heisman campaign this season. So far, not so good. He got injured on the second play from scrimmage. Most articles won't be able to be linked here at ZN since the word Ken+ gets changed to can't automatically. That's just what happens when your Akron's rival. Dri comes to Infocision on November 2nd. Jordon Lynch NIU Jordon is listed just outside the top 10 NFL QB prospects right now, but isn't that where most MAC NFL QB's get listed at this time of year? Jordon was solid in his first game this year beating B10 opponent Iowa 30-27 with an impressive performance. The Zips travel to Northern Illinois on October 12.

EA suggests if things don't go well for Pohl tomorrow, he could lose his starting job

College Sports Madness picks...

Do you realize the line is Zips plus three?

More bars.

You must of missed last years super bowl Zach. Even though Baltimore scored more points than the 49'ers, the 49'ers outgained them by more than 100 yards, and that's how the 49'ers ended up getting the LOZ trophy.

I remember this one started by TexanMark entitled 'Akron Things to Do and Where to Eat' , it might be helpful to some out of towners. We tried to start a Tailgating Photo Thread in 2010. Should we try again this year? Here is the parking map.

Nice job picking UCF points, if you don't mind, I'm going to do the same for this game. Dukes 20 points. I have no idea how the offense will show. Too many questions for me. Are we really going to take shots down the field? How many carries do guys who don't run east and west get? How many snaps do the freshman receivers get? Not enough info (no pun intended) for me to make an educated guess. I will give the D a chance to score a TD in this one though.

Hope it's a can of whoop-a$$

I'm sure "happy" is not correct, encouraged maybe. One of the worst teams in Div I coming with three TDs of an SEC team, and you don't get it? Did you watch the UMass game last year?

How Important is the JMU Game to the Terry Bowden Era?
Dr Z replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Football
Sadly, no. More Zip fans. Some early tailgating ZN member will put on daisy dukes at the post lot nine party if we win. Unfortunately, it will be a dude. -
