  1. What do you think would have happened if the RB slid over and picked up the pressure in the middle? Knowing the play was designed to go left.
  2. He doesn't show up on this injury report.
  3. I agree. It surprises me that nobody has commented on the blitz pickup responsibilities. I guess its easier just to say "the refs screwed us."
  4. I'll save you time, it says Columbus plays nobody on their schedule. They would be the SEVENTH best team in the SEC. This is not really news. Other than Columbus fans, all college football fans know this. Can you imagine Columbus playing Alabama, LSU, Georgia, South Carolina, Texas A&M, Florida, Ol Miss, etc on their schedule? Hell, Akron in a rebuilding phase, took the best (according to crazy rankings) team on the Columbus schedule to the last second of the game at THEIR house. Rankings are a joke. I've said it a hundred times, NOBODY should be ranked until week 6.
  5. Nice image ZW!
  6. Michigan tailgating beers: Boddingtons Stella Artois Newcastle 21st Amendment Hell or High Watermelon Rounder Belgian-Style Pale Ale (Blue Moon)
  7. Here you go, sorry it's not better, but some Columbus fans had me concerned about taking my DSLR in. Shouldn't have been concerned at all. This is just a phone photo turned around in section 8. I was in row 40, so this is 50 rows up.
  8. Just announced: The game at Bowling Green on Sept. 28 will kick off at 2:30 pm on ESPN3 (source: @ZipsGregg)
  9. Player of the week
  10. I liked the concept, but was disappointed with the execution. Light blue should be used in a baby's room, tissue commercial, feminine product ads, etc. The color needs a "meaner." Think dark. The Z is the right idea, but again, execution could be done better. Both easy fixes.
  11. B&G, this thread was intended for people that wanted to discuss the play, as opposed to just "blaming" the refs for the outcome. The thread you mentioned seems to be focused on the refs. I had hoped that fans would enjoy discussing football in this thread rather than officiating. For reference. From an officials instructor A DB/defensive player may contact a receiver before the ball is in the air if to ward off a block/protect himself from the block. The contact must cease when the receiver occupies the same yard line as the DB or passes him - no further contact may take place as the contact would not be for the purpose of warding off a block. If the contact by the DB is solely for the purpose of causing the receiver to go off his route, there may be a foul if the contact is unnecessary or their is a hold, otherwise it is legal. There is no 5 yard "chuck" rule as in the NFL. The incidental contact or light bumping as the route is being run may not be a foul if the bumping is dose not interfere with the route or cause interference - if it does, it is considered illegal contact.
  12. Yes. It should be noted that it was overthrown because he had to hurry due to improper blitz protection. Michigan made a good defensive call.
  13. D'Orozio catches that ball, and we win, 100,000+ phones go off in Michigan that say D'Orozio pushed off to get open. I wish that is exactly what happened.
  14. Let's see how this works, I made an 10 frame animated gif of the last play, it's 1.3 MB, so it may take some time to load for you. Three interesting things to watch IMO. 1. How the line (and RB) handle the protection from the blitz. (Cable Zero Train was the Defensive call) 2. The rub play of the receivers at the bottom of the formation. Given time, I believe this play works. 3. The way D'Orazio tried his best to get off the line.
  15. Nice observations Balsy. Do you know how many tackles Mizell had? Nice gallery of photos from ESPN
  16. Nice thread about the game here.
  17. Some, but not all. When you score 70 points, that should give you confidence. 600 yards of offense against Nicholls St (I honestly have never heard of them). 53 rushes for 456 yards!?! Our front seven will seem to be important in this one. Glad they are playing well. Edit: Nicholls beat W. Mich in Kalamazoo?
  18. The big house is as advertised...very nice. I'll post some photos tomorrow, nothing high res, just from my iPhone. Everything in the place seems new and clean. Lots of nice brick architecture. Someone mentioned that you would feel like you were far from the field since they didn't have two tiers...I didn't get that feeling at all. I was half way up, and had a great seat. I asked others at the top how their seat was and they liked their view too. I really don't think there is a bad seat in the place. It actually doesn't feel like 107,000 people. Others that were there can comment. Downtown Ann Arbor is very nice. Clean town. We walked down Main street checking out a few places before we hit the Jolly Pumpkin and ate and drank some of the Pumpkin's own beer. Had a belgium and a porter, both very good. Good food also. Other ZN members told me about good experiences downtown too, but I'll let them post about those places if they choose to. Tailgating was pretty cool. I read about tailgating on the golf course, but didn't really expect to be tailgating ON the golf course. We didn't get to our spot until about 9:15. We had a little traffic coming through town, but nothing insane. Drove right past the stadium and pulled into the golf course. $40 to park during nonconfernce games, $50 otherwise. We parked near the seventh green. Speaking to a lot attendant, he told me they park near 2,000 vehicles a game there. They don't park cars when there is heavy rain so they don't tear up the course. They make around a million a year parking on the course. Fans were friendly. When we pulled into our spot I got out and spoke to the Michigan fan next to me, "sorry that you have to park next to the only Zip fans here today." He responded, "you know something, that is exactly what the Appalachian State fan said to me." All an all, if you ever thought about going to the big house, don't hesitate, do it! One more thing, PLENTY of tickets available on game day. Michigan fan next to me told me, if you are just looking for a single ticket, you can score one for $10 ninety percent of the time. PS I used my passbook on my iPhone to get into the game, tickets from Stubhub app downloaded to passbook. I've never done that, just wanted to let others that were curious know it worked fine.
  19. Welled played game by the Zips in a great atmosphere. It amazes me that Pohl has such accuracy 40 yards down the sideline, but seems inconsistent on a skinny post. He needs more practice reps on those, but he played well overall. OL played great except for the last play (cable zero train — a blitz that got lb Beyer to the QB). I'll put together an animated gif breaking down the last play tomorrow. It was actually a well designed play that was going to work. Defensive line played great, UCF's offensive line played better than Michigan's (as I predicted before we played UCF). Michigan is not a very good team, Gardner's running ability covers his inefficiencies as a passer, and a lot of their teams issues. Gardner reminds me of playing Cribs in college. The team should be proud. I'll be interested to listen to coach on his show this week. Did AJ call all plays for that game? If he did, well done. Like others have stated we need to turn this near upset into a positive moving forward.
  20. This site seems to have some useful information on parking.
  21. I agree with the offense. I think Dalton got the ball out of his hands quicker. Probably due to the fact of his familiarity with the offense. I think the defense can be better this year. I liked the amount of pressure that the front four was creating in the UCF game. I think it will be interesting to see if they can stop Michigan's run game on early downs. I'm not confident in our secondary right now, but I'm hoping T-Buck got 'em fired up for tomorrow! "In 1991, my dad took one of his teams up there and won one of the biggest games in Florida State history, the first touchdown of the game was scored by T-Buck on a 40-yard interception."
  22. Some "story." Whitlock juuuuuust might be on to something. "Carter, a former Cowboys safety, was one of the main individuals that alleged that Oklahoma State players were paid by coaches, boosters and had academic coordinators completing school work for players. He claimed to have graduated from the school and to have attended classes with former running back Tatum Bell. However, records show that he did not graduate and that Bell was not enrolled at the school at the time Carter claimed."
  23. 68 degrees and sunny for game day
  24. Elton's view on the Michigan game.
  25. If your going to start using facts and instances in this thread without attacking members and acting like this is someones twitter page, I'm going to just stop reading right now. Did you hear the report from the Jets game last night? Somebody read the SI article to Santonio and asked for his opinion, he couldn't stop laughing long enough to comment.
