  1. We need the Plain Dealer to pump up our recruits and team on paper the way they do every year with the Browns. It always amazes me how some schlep with a job at the PD can make a fan excited by writing articles and ignoring reality. There were actually Cavs fans this year that thought the Cavs were going to be good because of things they read in the PD and listening to local dummies on the radio. Maybe if you guys drink a lot you will start to see double. Then you can go to our rivals page and get excited about all the stars you see. Can somebody tell me how many "stars" we had when we won the MAC? How many stars was Jason Taylor, Dwight Smith, Reggie Corner, Chase Blackburn, etc. There are high NFL draft picks that I have seen in training camp, once I see them on the field, I am less than impressed. Stars are not the end-all, be-all measurement of success! You will never know how good any of these recruits really are until you see them on the practice field. JZ, I'm with you, I'm an AKRON fan, and I want to win! We should hire Lee Owens to talk about our recruiting class to all the fans, or just put him on youtube. Every time I went to his signing day press conference I walked out of there thinking we were going to win the MAC. Then the games started....
  2. Good thing you have me to set you straight.
  3. Woodland Hills superstar Ryan Mundy graduated from Michigan in 2007 with a year of eligibility remaining. Instead of finishing his college football career at Michigan, Mundy decided to enroll at West Virginia University and join the Mountaineers football team for the 2007 season. He took advantage of an NCAA rule that allowed seniors to transfer to another school and participate in athletics without having to sit out a season (as is normally required) if they wish to pursue a field of study that was unavailable at their previous school. Mundy enrolled at West Virginia and began work on a master's degree in sports administration. I'll let you count him. Thanks for missing the point of the original comment.
  4. Packers that played in the MAC Bigby, Atari / Briggs, Diyral / Crabtree, Tom / Gordy, Josh / Jenkins, Cullen / Jennings, Greg / Lang, T.J. / Starks, James / Zombo, Frank Packers that played in the big ten Bulaga, Bryan / Hawk, A.J. / Neal, Mike / Pickett, Ryan / Quarless, Andrew / Tauscher, Mark / Wilhelm, Matt / Woodson, Charles Steelers that played in the MAC Batch, Charlie / Brown, Antonio / Harrison, James / Leftwich, Byron / Legursky, Doug / Roethlisberger, Ben / Suisham, Shaun Steelers that played in the big ten Adams, Flozell / Allen, Will / Essex, Trai / Foote, Larry / Kapinos, Jeremy / Mendenhall, Rashard / Randle El, Antwaan / Spaeth, Matt / Woodley, LaMarr
  5. Great article. Thanks JZ. JT should have been a Steeler. I'll never forgive Tom Donahoe & Cowher for missing on JT in that draft. I'm always excited to see a Woodland Hills guy play for the Zips. Loved Brandon Payne. End 4 JT?
  6. I will always remember JD saying that the best athletes in high school play QB and RB, it's are job to find their true position in Div I football.
  7. I know a Mac receiver that is an NFL rookie that is going to the Super Bowl that never played receiver in high school.
  8. I don't know how many (I'm guessing very few) switched over to the NFL network to watch the post game press conferences. NFL Network RULZ! One of coach Tomlin's first comments was "How about the rookie 6th round pick from Central Michigan coming up with another clutch catch two weeks in a row?" Mac based Q&A with Young Money. In case anybody was looking for a late xmas present for me!?!?
  9. From Peter King (OU grad) MMQB The Mac will have the same amount of players in the Super Bowl as the "Big" Ten.
  10. If you are being serious, there was an article at the beginning of the year where he stated his desire to start a professional career.
  11. Nice posts CK and QZ! What are your thoughts Z-Pouch?
  12. This is an easy on for me, best team on the floor to win the game we are playing at the time. Is that what coach K is doing?
  13. For clarification, my comments were not based on Egner specifically, just in general.
  14. Makes you wonder what goes on in practice? I'm sorry to quote a Steeler's coach so much, but it's what I know. I'm paraphrasing coach Tomlin in a press conference from a few weeks ago. "if you saw Polamalu practice at the beginning of the week, you wouldn't even think he is going to start for you that week, he is bad at practice, but when it comes game time, he knows how to turn it up to another level most players don't reach" Point being, we need the players on the floor that are gamers, not practice superstars.
  15. Not a real fair comparison. Program was at different levels while each coach was/is here. But given the choices JD is the obvious answer since he owns the biggest victories in school history. I hope in a few years the answer changes. It does make you wonder what the other two could have done with the facilities we have now though.
  16. I agree, reminds me of a James Harrison photo. 2009 Video takes a LONG time to load?
  17. UB's Starks to play role in NFC Championship game?
  18. According to Scout, there are only three 4 star DE's not committed, Brandon Alexander from Texas, Koa Ka'ai from Hawaii, Lavelle Lincome from California. Can't see any of those guys coming to Akron. There are 27 three star DE's not committed. Out of those 27, I'm going to guess it's Andre Sturdivant since he is the highest 3 star that is from the area and being recruited by Toledo. He has offers from PSU and Michigan. I would guess we have a small in since we have a Glenville relationship now, but I would be very impressed if iCoach can convince him to come here rather than Happy Valley. He might be waiting for a Columbus offer. Somebody called for it back in early Dec. Possible help to our chances?
  19. If you don't feel comfortable, then error on the side of caution. By all means, let us know after signing day. PS Brewton has an offer, and listed as a rivals two star.
  20. Does this superstar have a name?
  21. If he kicks FG's here, I would hope some student would have a big sign with a hole in it that said "Foxhole." He could stand on the rise between the posts when kicking at that end.
  22. Let me get this straight, a Charlie Coles led team scored 84 points against a team???? It's the most MU has scored on anybody this season in two periods. Coach K, I call him coach K because there is no D right now, needs to step up his game planning!
  23. I'll go out on a limb and say that iCoach did not want this kid. I'm not saying it's right or wrong. Would be a good question for a reporter that gets paid to ask this kind of question at the signing day press conference.
  24. Nice find. Photo source
