I like your thinking B&N. I'm not ready to start burning red shirts just yet, but I see where your coming from. The board seemed to knee jerk reactionary to me to post this weekend. I read a lot of good posts, but man there are some silly thoughts written. I wish every post Sunday started off with, "This being iCoach's first game he EVER coached...." Everybody needs to remember that. I'm encouraged what I saw defensively, and disappointed what I saw offensively. Lets see what progress is made in the second, third, fourth game in iCoach's career before we all hang ourselves. PS This Saturday's weather calls for 75 and partly cloudy. I'm all set to tailgate again.

Do the Akron city and campus buildings like this on game nights. If you want to do it on the cheap, make a student project with laser tag.

Loud booming firework in the sky ever hour on the hour with blue and gold smoke starting at noon to "wake up" Joe Akron on game days. Night games should have a Zips logo being shown like the bat signal in the sky. In a certain city nearby they like to say "It's a hockey night in...." We should adopt something like that. It's a football day/night in Akron. Advertised throughout the city on the sides of buildings the day of the game. Downtown buildings leaving the lights on certain offices that spell out ZIPS. Try to get people excited. Once again, this all helps when we have a quality product.

I like your "suggested" schedule better than the current Mac. Ever since Marshall and CFU left, I haven't liked the Mac (excluding Temple).

I agree with the guys, The Daily Orange is doing a good job of pumping out opponent articles. Ianello’s 4-3 defense is the third defensive formation Akron has played in the past three years??? 4-3, 3-3-5 and....???? JD quote when he got hired "I'm bringing a defense to the Mac that they have never seen (3-3-5)" What is this third defense? Don't say "stack" either, same as 3-3-5. PS There is a Mac team playing the 4-2-5 this year (serious).

Great piece! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Coach Porter's theory on scheduling, I wish he would have a long talk with the basketball coach on the subject. After seeing footage again of that kick ball competition from last year, I still want those hours of my life back. As long as I live, I'll never forgive myself for that.

I'm shocked that ZN members didn't ask any good questions!?! That was my favorite thing about the football outing, I got to ask questions I didn't know the answers to. But sometimes there is that one guy that tries to monopolize the coach's time and ask him dumb question after dumb question and you can't get quality time. "Hey coach, you think Zeke is going to be better next year?", "Hey coach, how's the schedule look?", "Hey coach, are we gunna win the Mac this year?"....
