  1. I wish I learned something from reading that.
  2. I wonder what LBJ's definition of "put Akron on the map" is? Someone that reports the news for a living should ask him to define that. Maybe Jim Grey.... If "putting Akron on the map" means getting national people to know that Akron is an actual city where he grew up, I would say he might have partially succeeded in signing with Miami. I've seen more national "Akron" headlines than I have ever seen recently. He resigns with Cleveland and you don't see one headline about Akron. Marketing firm gets their message out with BILLBOARD, and it makes national news.
  3. One possible solution to your problem. My favorite piece of info from the article:
  4. Sounds like a solid signing. ESPN article. (more of the same)
  5. I didn't get to see the ad, anybody have a better image of it? Did you see this billboard?
  6. "...Tailback Alex Allen is almost fully recovered..." Damn, I thought he was 100 percent?!? I might have to take one of my wins away from my prediction. IMO having a healthy AA this season is important in the win/loss column.
  7. Read this book on vacation last week. Good beach reading book. Very light. I'm not a big reader (maybe two books a year), but I flew through this in two beach days. Don't expect a big plot or even a twist, pretty straight forward and predictable. Entertaining enough for ZN members to enjoy due to the sports theme and the Cleveland Brown's references (not positive though). As far as the main character reminding me of Charlie? Not really, reminds me more of a Brian St. Pierre than Charlie, but I get where your coming from. Thanks for the recommendation.
  8. Getting ugly More
  9. Pipeline corrosion is a major safety concern in every processing plant in the world.
  10. 1. Zone and Dime can take care of spread offenses. Worked very well against the Zips last year. 2. You would be surprised how sometimes a weakness can turn into a strength when a scheme changes. Pressure on the QB will help our secondary this year. 3. There is nothing outdated about stopping the run on D. That is defensive football 101 my friend, and I haven't seen much of it in Akron since I have been around.
  11. New defensive coordinator Curt Mallory expects good results from the new defense."'We are going to try to put eight in the box when we can, with either a corner or safety," said Mallory. "It's what my background is. You always start with stopping the run. To do that, we will try to pack the box." Best defensive quote I have seen by a Zips coach since....well...ever.
  12. More times than not, I would agree with you. Not that I/we have a choice, but this year with new schemes on both sides of the ball I wish we played more like-talent teams early. I think that would build confidence. We'll see, I could be wrong. I hope I am, especially since I'm going to Kentucky. That photo in the link is getting me pumped for the season though!!!
  13. I went to a handful of Cavs games this year where it was 3 deep at a packed Harry Buffalo's and Flannery's before and after the game. Went to the Indians game Saturday night (17,221 attendance). Sat four at the bar with plenty of room on either side of us before the game at both places. Went to Forties after the game, there were two people at the bar. Maybe the Yankees in town for a month will help?
  14. How do you know?
  15. I'm with you on your three. I have a fourth on my list...Players. I'm excited to see PN7, Wager and AA.
  16. Two things I learned from that link.
  17. Reminds me of one of my favorite John McKay quotes: "I had a five-year plan" he said about his work in building the Buccaneers and taking them to the NFC Championship Game in just their fourth season. "But that was because I had a five-year contract. If I had had a three-year contract, I would have had a three year plan." I was playing golf last week with a guy who mentioned that he played golf with Gerry Faust last month, the other guy in my group responded, "why doesn't the football program let Gerry run the golf outing if they don't have interest in doing it" I thought that was a decent idea. PS One of my favorite shows on radio is "Movin' The Chains" on NFL radio. Pat Kirwan does a great job of taking bad call and turning it into good information. Your post reminds me of that.
  18. Let me help. Sometimes you get mad, then you realize the error of your ways. Maybe it will happen again.
  19. Mr Wistrcill referred me to Director of Licensing, Bryan Huettmann, who referred me to Pat at Barnes & Noble who has taken over the day-to-day sales and game day sales for Akron Athletics. I just got off the phone with Pat. He is aware of the demand. He reads ZN and wants to help. He is going to re-check into the making of player jerseys, authentic and replica. The last time he checked he said he thought he had to order over 100 and wasn't sure there was demand for specific names and numbers. He says they sell a generic number 1 at the store. He said they are trying real hard to get the team shop open before the start of the season, but reminds everybody that they have a trailer on game day outside of the stadium and two shops inside the stadium. He has promised to email me information if/when he is able to provide jerseys...stay tuned.
  20. (Oh)We already won, we already won, And ain't no need to play no more games We already won, we already won, And ain't no more need to play no more games Lemme hear you say we number one, we number one, we number one, We already won, we already won, hey
  21. You just described every 7 on 7 practice that took place in college football for the last ten years. That's why you won't find much posted about it here. It is pretty meaningless from a fan's perspective.
  22. This is a good practice for PN7 and his new receivers to get on the same page. GP1 posed the question back in January; who is going to catch the ball? This was before Carter was moved to WR, but I bet PN7 is building some confidence in his receivers with these 7-7 drills. That's what it's good for.
