  2. I hope more "Rowdies" show up to that one. I counted 38 "kids" in rowdie shirts last night.I included the 12 year old that heaved the ball from half court.
  3. No real big surprises for Zipsnation readers, because CK posted all but two recruits, Ryan Simpson and Deni Odofin before signing day. Many props to CK. After watching film on all the recruits I'll give you little tid-bits that JD made about a random few:Jake Anderson: very hard worker, recruited by UConn. Brian Brikowski: needs to grow into his body, has huge hands, could end up playing any LB position. Jali Carter: recruited by Toledo to play WR, JD convinced him that being a 6'1" DB at Akron would be a better choice. Marquinn Davis: raw talent, Marquinn doesn't know how good he can be, ready to work hard. Sean Fobbs: this guy is a hitter (his tape shows that too), could play safety or LB. Vincent Hill: only recruit that needs work in the classroom but should be okay, all accomplishments during senior year were done with a torn ligament which has been fixed since. Impressive tape, diving plays, one hand catches.Dan Marcoux: good grades and good character. Da-Von Moore: will play defense, DB or LB. Deni Odofin: benches over 300, serious pass rusher and a good bball player. Joe Rash: plays very fast (very impressive tape). Matt Rodgers: an intelligent guy, loves the game. (strong arm in my opinion, has good release)Dan Ronsman: will play G or C, good motor. Almondo Sewell: could play bandit, runs down hill (to me, most impressive tape, Zips fans are going to love this guy). Paul Simkovich: de-committed from Mich St also offered from Miami U and Louisville. Stuck with us.Bryan Williams: JD was very excited about Bryan coming to Akron, mentioned many times how this could open doors to other quality area recruits accepting here.Read Bios on every player at GoZipsAccording to Rivals, Akron leads the MAC...againAddressing both lines was a priority. This class has good chemistryOther random information gathered. The big question on the minds of everyone, the stadium. From Mack "we will be ready to announce in late spring, early summer"Another big question on the board (in many posts), Igor. From JD, he hurt his back, was going to get surgery, doctor decided it wasn't necessary. Still having problems, going for second opinion. JD "we hope to have him ready to go at the beginning of the season"JD stressed that this class was solid from top to bottom. This class has a lot of character guys to go along with all the athletics.Coach Moorhead stressed that he thinks this is their best class. When asked who has the best chance to see the field next year from this class, JD offered that Bryan Williams will have a good chance.Congrats to all the coaches for there hard work.

  13. That's good news. Hope they use Frye, as he is recognizable to many in NE Ohio. Now, put up some fear the roo billboards. Go Bears...and under 48.
  14. Nothing wrong with a kid setting his sites "high" on a bigger school. He may not realize how much he likes Akron until he starts to attend.Plus, sometimes if the student feels that he was passed up, he plays with a chip on his shoulder to try to prove others wrong. Go across the NFL and you will find many players like this. This looks to be great class. Nice Job to JD and his hard working staff
  15. I wonder if he'll get the same slap on the wrist this guy did?
  16. Looks familar
  17. Must be working hard. Seems to have lost some weight.weight 341
  18. If I were Charlie Frye, I would want my team to draft:1st Round -- Calvin Johnson (best player in the draft, might be there at 3, but not at 4, if TB gets a shot at him they take him)2nd Round -- Joe Staley
  19. I'm guessing you mean Almondo Sewell , not Almond(a), correct me if I'm wrong.I'm guessing on this guy too, correct me if I'm wrongFrom Cockpit ForumNot much on John GreenNot much on Kade Wagner either
  20. Browns quarterback Charlie Frye had an awkward moment after presenting the outstanding college athlete award, won by Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith from Ohio State.Smith, in a taped acceptance speech, said, “Hopefully, I’ll get a chance to represent you guys at the next level for the Browns.”After his presentation, Frye said he spent time Monday with new offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski and that he’s happy to be starting with a clean slate, a new coach who doesn’t know anybody yet and another chance to prove himself. He said he’s not worried about the Browns drafting a quarterback with the No. 3 or No. 4 pick (depending on the coin flip with Tampa Bay). “If you’re worried about that, you’re worrying about the wrong things,” he said. He also said, "I watched the tape of the BCS championship game, I'm not real worried about Smith"Source (cleek here)
  21. Leakin Urinal catches on quick !?!?Posted on Fri, Jan. 26, 2007Ex-Buchtel standout will play for ZipsFormer Buchtel football and track standout Bryan Williams will be playing close to home once again.Williams, a 2005 Buchtel graduate and first-team All-Ohio his senior year, will play for coach J.D. Brookhart at the University of Akron next season, said Williams' former high school coach, Claude Brown. The 6-foot, 195-pound Williams, originally accepted a scholarship to the University of Pittsburgh while at Buchtel, but later transferred to Valley Forge Military Academy Prep School. He played there the past two seasons as a running back and defensive back.``It's a good move for a hometown kid to play for J.D.,'' Brown said. ``Bryan went to Pitt, initially, but ran into testing issues and he went to Valley Forge and did what he had to do. Then, he decided he wanted to come home and play.''Williams rushed for 1,831 yards and scored 26 touchdowns in his senior year and also was a starting defensive back. In addition, he was one of the top sprinters in the state that year.
