1) I think you "skipped" over Groce's biggest achievements in 2012. -
Duquesne Basketball Coach Keith Dambrot

If one wanted to compare Groce and KD, I think the 2012 season would be a good start. If you were concerned with results instead of stats. -
MTB will be back next year. He is excited about it, and has a great attitude. He is at every game cheering on his teammates. Check out the sideline huddles during timeouts, you will notice him.

I'm concerned about Coney's status for the game after seeing him in an arm sling Tuesday night. He got hurt on the TD pass in the first half. He was able to celebrate with his team afterwards, so that's a good sign.

They are honoring seniors, and he is a senior. I'm sure that fact will be considered. If it were me, I would play both. Wouldn't it be interesting to see Woodson, Nelson and Bollas all throw for 190 yards with a Zips blow out? Prior to the home finale with Kent State, Akron will honor the 24 members of its Senior Class– RB Warren Ball, WR Fransohn Bickley, LS Michael Buddenberg, DL Ibrahima Camara, WR Tra'Von Chapman, WR A.J. Coney, OL Stephen Ericksen, OL LaVonne Gauthney, P/K Zach Gingerich, WR Kevin Gladney, LS Hayden Grover, S Zach Guiser, LB Andrew Hauser, CB Mikee Hayes, LB Tony Jones, DE Michael Kish, OL Jovann Letuli, OL Cedric McCoy, DE Deon'Tae Moore, RB Manny Morgan, OL Xavier Quigley, WR Austin Wolf, QB Thomas Woodson, and WR Anthony Young.

It's possible both may play, so naming a starter may prove to be inconsequential. I could understand a coaches thinking if he where to start the senior against his rival, but also give time to the freshman phenom.

I'll go out on a limb and suggest, the effectiveness of Kent's defense will not hinge on knowing, or not knowing, the starting QB for Akron.

If it were on Wednesday night, yes, that would be great. Most are off on Thursday, and typically many go out the night before Thanksgiving. I assume most have to work Wednesday. Last Tuesday I worked 8 hours, drove 40 minutes to the game, photographed game, drove home, developed photography, uploaded to site at 1:30, bed by 2 am, up at 6 am to work another 8 hour day. It will be the same this Tuesday. I don't blame anybody for not going to a Tuesday night game. I hope we pack the stadium for Kent, but I expect the same as last week, or less.

Telling thread. Some predictions are impressive. I know I heard a lot of players comment about the 4th place finish prediction last night. That prediction seemed to stick with them, and motivate. ???

Bowden made a comment during the presser last night (almost out of his way), to state that KN1 was a gamer. You can read into that, if you wanted to. Nice to have a decision between two QB's that have had success at the end of the season, rather than our situation at the end of last season. I have a feeling that whatever QB plays, is going to be without one of our leading receivers next week.

Zips Wins - 6 Warren Ball rushing yards - 332 ? Reception Leaders - Tra’Von 48, Coney 38, Smith 30, and Wolf 27 Defensive sacks - 16 The Zips have had one sack in the last month. Hopefully they can rack up multiple sacks next Tuesday. I don't think anybody will catch Tra in receptions. That win total better be 7 next time this week. I want that wheel.

Careful what you wish for, given the chance, the Zips December team will be different from the team the Rockets played in October. Good luck. Like last night, we'll be bringing the turnover chain to Detroit.
-
I'll give honorable mention to @feetg10 and @g-mann17 for voting that Ouellette would have under 75 yards rushing, and the Zips would win. While I thought the Zips would win, I thought there was little chance the Zips could contain Ouellette the way they did. Just a fantastic effort upfront even after they lost Camara.

In his interview after the game, he stated that he watched a lot of film this week, and took what the defense gave him. He said he started underneath, and when they moved in on him, he took it over the top. Coach Bowden also said that they worked with him to move the ball forward, and to not take so many backwards plays. If Kato can continue to progress as much as he did from last week to this week, Zip fans can be in for a fun ride. Edit: Coney was in an arm sling when he was celebrating with the team.

"Ah, don't kid yourselves Akron fans, the Zips are going to a bowl no matter what now" - Steve French

Zips win, Kato throws for 212 more yards than Rourke, and the Zips hold Ouellette to 74 yards, no winners this week. Yet I feel like all voters probably feel like they did.

Duquesne Basketball Coach Keith Dambrot
Dr Z replied to Valpo Zip's topic in Off Topic, Smack & Jokes
General warning: Keith Dambrot coached at Akron for more than a decade, and is a big part of what Akron basketball is today. He will be talked about for years to come on ZipsNation. The majority of that discussion will happen in this thread. If, for whatever reason, you are not a fan of that, please do not harass members that want to be a part of it, simply do not click on the thread. -
Not sure how The Post knows this info, from 8 pm last night? Thomas Woodson, who was suspended for the Miami game last week, will make his return against Ohio. A senior, Woodson runs the Akron offense nearly single-handedly. OU received two votes in the coaches Top 25 poll this week. The poll reads like our schedule: Others Receiving Votes; Virginia Tech 94; Northwestern 67; Arizona 54; Boise State 40; South Carolina 33; Iowa 16; Kentucky 16; Army 14; San Diego State 11; Iowa State 9; Troy 5; Ohio 2.

No doubt. I changed the lock to 7 pm. Hope that helps some members.

Isaiah averaged 2.9 assists per game last year. 1.6 the year before.
