  1. Did I not see that right or was that a whiffle ball bat being used.So if you hit it or foul tip it the bat breaks?!?Seemed kind of useless having someone stand there with a plastic bat. What's the contest?Should have used an aluminum bat, that would have been an interesting show.Would have made sports center when the paramedics were attending to the injured fan.Should have had nobody there and a radar detector on the big screen and have two fans guess the speed of the pitch.
  2. New quote from Romeo on ESPN radio "Holy Moses the step children got 8 votes for the top 25, where are the bullies???"Sorry, you won't find the big bad bully here
  3. Those are some bold statements. Double the money??? Who is offering that???I agree that the size of the stadium will reveal what the University's long term goals are.It is WAY to early to talk about moving out of the MAC. I enjoy your optomistic view
  4. If you don't want to be attacked, consider adding some substance to the board. This board is for people to get quality information about Akron athletics and to discuss those athletics. Please consider doing so, or you may be asked to move on.
  5. You being here shows me that people from Miami care about Akron sports.Thank you for your support.
  6. Sounds like the wine sippers are getting nervous  If Brookhart ever leaves, the guy that takes over for him will be stepping into a situation built for success. In the meantime, we'll just be happy winning Mac championships.
  7. You guys are hitting on all cylinders
  8. If you include the email addresses I would bet you get a good response.
  9. I agree 100%. I would LOVE to see Sowers get a little more PT.He seems like he has some skills. I know there are many more things that go into getting PT and it is a tough thing to administer, but as a fan, I sure would like to see him get in on some games.
  10. Just watch out for their coaches after the game.
  11. Drop the word "Today's" and your on to something there Z.PS Whomever is/was involved in the timeout graphic that shows Zippy beating upevery other mascot in the mac to the sounds of thriller, my hats off EXCELLENT JOB.
  12. After going to the press conference and watching JD show tape of all 23 recruits, I will give you MY opinion of what I saw on tape of the players that made impressions on me.Sean Hakes looks awesome to me. Big and strong. JD made the comment that he has already thrown around with the guys and many are impressed with his arm already. JD made the comment that he throws on the run like Frye. He also said that Sean contacted them, not the other way around.Jerrel Stoudemire looks like a monster to me. The dude was CRUSHING everybody on tape. He destroyed the offensive line. The best part was, every tackle he made he seemed to punish the runner, hitting him hard. This dude is going to create some turnovers for us. I thought he was the most impressive on tape of the bunch.DJ Henderson looks like Plexico. He is big. 6'5. He looks like he understands how to use his height to his advantage. He also seems strong. Many catches made crossing the the middle, and once he did, he seemed to have a nose for the endzone, breaking tackles on the way. JD only had soph tape on Harvey so this may be the reason that DJ looked like our best WR to me.Aaris Reed looked fast. He looked like he could find a seem and accelerate. He looks like he has that extra gear people talk about in a running back. Seen some nice cut backs. I know that Boone was supposed to be more highly touted, but from my impression of looking at high school tape, I like Reed better.Jason Sekinger is MASSIVE. JD said he weighs 360 and is 6'9. He is the transfer from Minnesota. The tape of him was impressive. He stands out on every play. He is the guy pancaking one guy and looking for another. This dude should be fun to run behind. JD made the comment that he blocks with attitude.Igor Iveljic is the 5th rated kicker in the nation. This dude was blasting kicks. JD said we are not really going to have to worry about kick off coverage with this guy. He was blasting kicks through the endzone. One kickoff went through the uprights.Other notes:Overall of the DBs recruited, they look big and fast. JD made the comment a few times that he wanted to increase speed and size, yes that's a cliche, but from looking at tape, that is what I saw too. Delvin Davis is a HITTER. Nose for the ball carrier. Should be huge on run support. Curtis Brown played at the same high school as Santonio Holmes.Tevlin Petit-Frere had some great acceleration on tape.Mitchell Magloire tied a school record with 19.5 sacks. That's all I have written down on my sheet. Remember these are just my impressions from watching 40 minutes of tape. It really doesn't mean anything. Just thought I would share with you guys.complete list from gozips
  13. ESPN MAC Recruiting list
  14. according to Rasor....OK. I've got some recruiting scoops...* Sorry fans, LeSean McCoy is not coming to Akron. He will choose between Miami and Southern Cal today. Penn State also has a shot. A university source heard about the rumor and said it made for some good conversations. That's about it.* Aaris Reed, the 99th best running back in the nation according to Scout.com, signed today.* Jerrell Stoudemire, brother of Phoenix Suns star Amare, has signed. He is a defensive lineman.* Still, a senior recruiting source at the university tells me this class is "absolutely outstanding." In fact, "no one else is even close in the MAC," he said. Joe Moorhead is the best recruiter in the league, he added.* Northern Illinois lost three of its biggest recruits to Big 10 schools.* Two star Sheldon Dennis will sign today. He is a 6-2, 205 running back from Florida. He had interest in Louisville, Auburn, Florida, Florida State and Miami-FL.* Coach J.D. Brookhart will name 27 signees today. Recruiting Web sites haven't listed many of them as committed.* Out of the 27 recruits, wide receiver transfer David Harvey is "out of this world" and the biggest name from this class. Center Mark Jackson, kicker Igor Iveljic and running back Andre Boone are the other headliners.* Brookhart will hold back a few scholarships in case some players "slip through the cracks."* Akron also signed a player with the last name Lemmon. I can't find him on any recruiting site.* Derron Smith from Pittsburgh signed in the past 24 hours. He is the 90th best inside linebacker in the country, according to ESPN Insider. Rivals.com gives Smith two stars. He is a decent blitzer who likes to drop into coverage. He could be converted to defensive end, but I doubt Brookhart's scheme would suit another DE. He had interest from Toledo.source

  24. I didn't get to hear the whole piece, but Gil Brandt was discussing Charlie Frye on NFL Radio on Sirius. He had a lot of good things to say about him. But he said something I have never heard before. He said "the one knock I have on Frye is that he has small hands, and it is hard to throw the ball in the cold with small hands" Anybody else heard of this before?
