  2. Just means Harbaugh is still a numskull. Austin Wolf not listed. Pretty sure he is number one at the Z. Robbie Kelley is a R-Jr. Interesting that Meeks is on the three deep at tight end and not Long or Booker. The rest looks as expected.
  3. Something to keep an eye on: A younger Wolfley brother, Jaden, is a starter at Morgantown High School. He, too, is over 6-foot tall and checks in around 265 pounds. He is bound to play at the next level and could wind up with the WVU football team. Since there is now a connection at Akron, Jaden could be a Zip next year as well. Another point: coach Bowden is from Morgantown.
  4. Freshman Dylan Meeks is listed as TE/DL on the roster. He has spent the summer with the tight end group. At 235 pounds, he probably falls in the same category as Justin Sampson, just needs more time in the weight room to play line. Interesting that (freshman) Sampson is still listed as DE, since it was written that he was transitioning to linebacker. With the current success of the Zips training program, I would expect good things from both in the future. Not losing anybody in the TE group, and gaining MTB next season, I would expect Meeks to move back to D next season.
  5. Per roster update Sammy Laster is now with the Zips. Listed as a linebacker. The once, Top 5 underclassmen linebacker in South Florida in Top 25 prospect in Miami-Dade County for the class of 2017 missed his entire junior season. Laster is 5-foot-11, 190-pounds with sub 4.5 speed as well as sporting a 3.4 GPA with a 22 ACT and 1180 SAT.
  6. Kent State coach Paul Haynes takes leave of absence, out 2-3 weeks Kent State coach Paul Haynes is taking a leave of absence because of medical reasons, the team announced Sunday night. Haynes is expected to be away for two or three weeks, according to a news release. Offensive coordinator Don Treadwell will serve as head coach during Haynes' absence. Kent State opens the season Saturday at No. 5 Clemson.
  7. Kareem Hunt got a lot of glowing reviews after his eight-carry, 40-yard performance at Cincinnati. Replacing Spencer Ware after the first offensive play of the game, West stuck around for 17 snaps with the first-team offense to give coach Andy Reid an extended look, and he added 23 yards on three receptions. All in all, not bad for a few drives' worth of work...The 25-yard run Hunt had was great because he broke a couple of tackles and stiff-armed a defender to pick up a little more yardage, but it ultimately accounted for more than half of his total on the night. While he had three gains for five or more yards, he also had three runs for one yard or less, all in the red zone. Hunt reminded us that while he plays at a good game speed, he's not a burner with breakaway skills -- he ran a 4.62 40-yard dash at the combine. source
  8. Pertaining to Gilbert's comment about the personnel grouping. Maybe it's an interpretation thing, but I see a lot of use from the tight end Mike Gesicki. He seems to be very involved in the play, so much so, that he may be a good read. He lines up off the line often, but also on. Lead blocks on the edge, pass protects in backfield, releases into passing routes too (48 receptions last year). In the USC game, Gesicki pass blocked, lead blocked, and run pass routes from this same personnel and formation. This play was a counter sweep right. Games for review: PSU vs USC PSU vs Pitt
  9. For the members that voted "other" in wide receiver reception leader, who were you thinking? Were you thinking Bickley (like @94zipgrad), or someone else? Dixon, Smith, Stewart, Williams, Wooldridge...? Interesting how close the voting for sack total is. Last year the Zips defense only had fifteen, but were devastated with injury. 2015, the bowl year, they had twenty-five sacks. 2005, the year the Zips won the MAC, they had thirty. The Zips need sacks this year.

  11. Agreed. If he has 200+ carries this season, I think the Zips have 7+
  12. 79 Yards Later Saquon Barkley romped his way to national fame with one Rose Bowl run. Can he do it again (and again and again)? by PSU alum Hallie Grossman 08/23/17 ESPN THE MAGAZINE
  13. I know Daktronics did the new one at Heinz Field this year. Same concept. I think they did the Browns and Indians too.
  14. Toledo's Logan Woodside has MAC's best returning QB -- by Elton Alexander "....few are predicting a Toledo repeat of Western Michigan's undefeated regular season run to a profitable New Year's Bowl game, it is not out of the question. The Rockets play at Nevada, host Tulsa, and play at Miami (Fla.) in games where victories could easily vault them into the national rankings. From there, it's all about navigating through the MAC schedule, including late-season, mid-week games at Ohio University and at Bowling Green, back-to-back."
  15. This season is so big, I couldn't keep it to three questions, sorry. Feel free to discuss your answers below. I'll close this before the first game of the season. Good luck, and Go Zips!
  16. Agreed, but in fairness, 7 views are probably me trying to get CK's article in a presentable file format here. The pdf translates to an image in some browsers (no extra click needed), but not others (click opens another window). At a later time (a few days from now), not to highjack this thread, I would like to hear some feedback on how you are viewing this article. The first link "should" be a clickable link that opens up in another window, an embedded pdf should be below that (same article). Boxen is one tough SOB. If anybody follows him on Instagram, you can view his scar right after the surgery. When I originally saw it, I thought his football career might have come to an end. I loved his comment about his dislike for State.
  17. His grandfather is former Steeler Ray Mansfield ?
  18. AJ Coney is my guess. I think the depth chart will be out next week.
  19. I keep thinking back to the game last year when James Conner (and crew) run all over PSU's front seven. Conner and Warren are similar size and weight. ??‍♂️ PS I play Warren. I want to see him play. ??
  20. Would you sit Ball against PSU, or limit his carries in any way because of the same reasoning?
  21. Weather forced the Zips to warmup inside before taking the field today. Coach Hickson keeps a watchful eye, as Deltron Sands gets some work in. Travonte Junius hits the sled. Alex and Tyler bring an attitude to practice. Coach Ekkens puts his offensive line through drills. Jovann Letuli practices a technique drill. Coach Milwee looks on as Kato throws an out pattern. Josh Ward practices his get off on the right side of the line. Manny Morgan pulls in a one hand grab. Warren ball focuses on ball security. Anthony Young brings in a Kato Nelson pass Alex Ramart warms up with Nick Johns.
  22. Promoted and sold by the University? Use of official marks. Just guessing. I would guess the U financially benefits. If I were in marketing team, I would get some gear to Bernie, LBJ, Jason, Jatavis, JoJo, Jerome etc... https://gvartwork.com/collections/akron-collection
