@Cykron are there any NFL prospects on Iowa State's team that Zips fans (that like that kind of thing) can look out for?

Two injured lineman according to Don Best injury "report." 09/10/17 DL Jamahl Johnson Ankle "?" Saturday vs. Akron 09/10/17 OL Oge Udeogu Elbow "?" Saturday vs. Akron Junior right guard Oge Udeogu wasn’t dressed for Saturday’s game and had his right arm wrapped. ISU Coach Matt Campbell said he had cleanup surgery on his elbow after getting “dinged up a little bit” in practice the week before.

I voted, Sampson. He had a real nice get off late in the game playing defensive end Saturday. You can watch the replay here. Start with 11 minutes left in the game and watch him dominate the right tackle. I can see his speed around the edge with a DB blitzing the gap creating disruption in situations. He has a good motor, and doesn't quit on plays either.

Nice rookie debut by NIU receiver Kenny Golladay. Kenny Golladay played 44-of-73 offensive snaps in the Week 1 win over the Cardinals. T.J. Jones played just 18, and it was Golladay who obviously stole the show for Detroit, catching a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns to put the Lions ahead and then seal the win. Golden Tate and Marvin Jones will continue to run ahead of Golladay, but the Lions ran the third-highest percentage of 11 personnel last season, so there are plenty of snaps available for Golladay to produce.

With two uncompetitive games, the coaching staff has been able to get a look at a lot of players that weren't here last year. Who has impressed you? Who do you think has potential to help the Zips win games in the MAC? What did ZN observe? Please discuss.

No winners this week. Only six Zips fans predicted the blow out. ?

Franklin says "beating Pitt was just like beating Akron"

There are a very limited amount of games where I don't want to see the best talent both teams have to offer on the field, tomorrow is not one of those games. Injuries happen all the time, not just in games. Should the Zips not practice healthy starters because we are fearful? I think the offensive starters could use as many positive reps as possible tomorrow. I hear a SB winning coach say "we don't live in our fears" all the time. I like that saying. I want to hear that cannon a dozen times tomorrow. ? Go Zips! ? PS OU vs Purdue on FS1 8 pm

Only for HUGE fans.

I hope TW gets a lot a work and regains his form and confidence. I also hope Warren has a stat padding type day with some big runs. He's worked hard and stuck with the program, let's hope the offensive line rewards him with some big holes. We need the starting offense fine tuned and ready to execute.

He prefers to be called Thomas because he has a brother that goes by Tommy.

I love coach's explanation of why Gesicki is challenging to defend.

Discuss why you voted the way you did below.

Not enough good plays come to mind from Saturday, but there were a few. Obviously, Guiser's interception. Reinke's 4th down tackle on Barkley. Warren had some nice runs up the middle, I wish the play calling would have had more of that. PSU defenders were too quick when the Zips tried running anything outside. Kato showed some nice moves on a run up the middle. I've said this before, but if you are at the game watching the Akron defense, take a series or two and watch Alvin Davis, he amazes me at 165 pounds. He had two open field tackles on Barkley and Gesicki that were awesome. I'm not sure they showed this on tv or not because it was away from the play late. Gesicki lined up and the slot, and Alvin come up and played press cover on him. At the snap of the ball Alvin attacked him and got his hands inside his numbers and wrestled him for five yards up the field. Gesicki and Alvin talked at the end of the game at midfield, I wish I could have heard the conversation. Gesicki walked away from the conversation laughing. I was surprised how much time Denzel Butler played, I guess coach wasn't kidding when he said he had a good summer. PSU was as advertised. McSorley, Barkley, Gesicki were awesome, I'll be interested to see how upper teams defend them throughout the year. Time to get up off the mat, and come out swingin this Saturday!

Reference is to the Zips starting left tackle. I believe Kato got tackled into him late in the game. He was walking around on his own after the game shaking hands at midfield.

Only two Zips fans knew how this one would turn out, @zipsoutsider and @ZippyforPresident. Congrats guys. Honorable mention: @kreed5120

I can't speak for EA. Possibly untold. I wrote in mid August what coach Stroud told me about the secondary "One of our corners in particular, Darian Dailey, we feel like he is going to be a special corner for us. Alvin Davis stood out again today, we have great leadership in Zach Guiser. This is probably the best backend we have had since we have been here, and that’s saying a mouthful because we were really good on the backend last year. They are all (secondary) doing great." He also spoke about his rotation of the front seven. Lots of question marks with the receiving corp, but coaches and players have told me that Tra'Von has looked special thus far. Let's hope all this translates to game day success.

That site (Don Best) is flaky, coaches don't have to report anything, I'm not sure how they base their info, or get their wording. This morning there was nothing listed under Akron, now they have Woodson listed as probable with a shoulder. Coach said in his presser that Wolf won't play, yet he isn't listed.

I would guess EA is forming an opinion through observation. Example: "to watch Ball go through a practice session it is clear he is the type of back any coach would drool over. He's big enough to carry the burden between the tackles, yet fast enough and elusive enough to rip off big gains at any moment." I assume #34 will not be the only one carrying the ball (because of depth) Saturday, but with the comments below (found in EA's article), I didn't consider someone else throwing the ball (possibly second half) until reading this. It could be a consideration having TW only throw 17 or so times each in the next two weeks, and work him into more attempts in two weeks vs the Cyclones.
