  1. Performance, and security upgrade this morning, all background processing should be finished at the time of this post.
  2. These injury lists mean little. Coach Bowden does not have to officially announce anything, but Warren Ball has been on this list the last few weeks, and no longer appears. An offensive game plan that favors a few more running plays (clock running), can give our defense some extra sideline time.
  3. I agree. He is young talent (sophomore) that stands out to me. He seems to be around the ball a lot. Good run supporter. He was also named the Weight Room Most Improved player following spring drills. He had 10 tackles last week, and 9 the week before. Does Joe Dunn still do that piece entitled "Stock on the Rise?" (or something like that). I would bye some SF20 stock now. Zips favored by 5 this week.
  4. Saints WR Tommylee Lewis caught 3-of-4 targets for 43 yards in the Week 3. Lewis is a tiny 5'7/168 rookie out of Northern Illinois who was recommended to the Saints by legendary coach Bill Parcels. source: Rotoworld
  5. Reading your post makes me think the Zips should parody something like this.
  6. Source: PFF Quarterback grade: Cody Kessler, 65.6 Kessler conservative, unremarkable but might be just what the Browns need While the Browns would substitute Terrelle Pryor in on several drives, Kessler wound up taking 36 dropbacks for a franchise reeling from the loss of its primary and secondary options. Kessler completed 16-of-20 aimed passes under 10 yards and, surprisingly, completed five-of-seven beyond 10 yards. The rookie quarterback from USC would top all quarterbacks from the 1 p.m. games with an adjusted completion percentage of 81.8 percent. With Josh McCown unlikely to play in Week 4 at Washington, Kessler could begin to solidify his job leading the Cleveland offense with another solid showing. QB Carson Wentz, 79.7 Quarterback grade: Dak Prescott, 82.1 Prescott refuses to play like a rookie Rookie Dak Prescott had another solid outing this week
  7. PFF Top defensive grades: LB Jatavis Brown, 88.0 CB Casey Hayward, 87.0 DE Corey Liuget, 80.0 DE Tenny Palepoi, 80.0 LB Denzel Perryman, 78.1 Brown a star in the making? Besting his previous snap count high of 31 by one, Jatavis Brown continues to flash the kind of playmaking ability that will make it hard for the Chargers not to put him on the field more. He turned his sack into a big fumble of Andrew Luck, added two more defensive stops and two pass breakups.
  8. Any luck yet?
  9. Our kickoff coverage did our defense no favors. I would have kicked off to the end zone in the second half. Lets see if this gets changed this week.
  10. Sun Belt Conference was the answer. I might have won, I'll wait for an official announcement from the author of the thread.
  11. The joy of watching a six point victory over the Georgia State Panthers.
  12. Woodson had 31 completions, and the Mountaineers had 307 yards of rushing. Congratulations to AppinSC.
  13. Agreed. Done.
  14. The Zips strength is their passing game. They will probably come out throwing. If I were App, I would defend the pass well, and make the Zips run.
  15. Which referees will be at the game? Hope we get the female referee we can last year, is she still in the MAC?
  16. Sounds awesome. If a MAC ref could throw a future flag, he would.
  17. Waiting for the next post...."I'm concerned coach Bowden is promoting the program too much and not focusing on the team" Back to what's important, the game. Small Hustlebelt preview...Akron Ready to Turn Some Heads. The Akron Zips host the Appalachian State Mountaineers at InfoCision Stadium in Akron on Saturday at 3:30 with a chance to turn some heads around the country. All that stands in their way is an App State squad who manages to make national headlines seemingly every year. This figures to be a fun game. The Mountaineers started their season with a nail-biting loss at (alleged) powerhouse Tennessee and followed it up with a smacking of Old Dominion. Last week the perennial Cinderellas hosted the Miami Hurricanes in what was by far the biggest game in the history of their campus. It was supposed to be close. It was not close. --By Kevin Nye Perfect Tailgating Weather!
  18. Practice squad players earn a minimum of $6,900 per week that they are on the practice squad. That's $117,300 for a seventeen-week season, plus $6,900 per week his team is in the playoffs. That's a significant amount of money, but the lowest-paid player on the 53-man roster earn almost four times as much: $450,000 for a rookie. Those are minimum numbers, though, and players can and often do elect to pay their practice squad players more to keep them from signing with other teams -- sometimes, practice squad players make as much as the rookie minimum salary, to make sure they won't be tempted by another team's offer to sign onto their 53-man roster. The Bucs reportedly paid Howard Jones a rookie minimum salary last season, before signing him to their own 53-man roster. --bucsnation The Patriots for example are one NFL team that consistently goes above and beyond the minimum practice squad rate. At certain points, the Pats have paid their entire practice squad weekly rates above the minimum salary. In 2015, the Rams paid supplemental draft pick OT Isaiah Battle $25,588 per week, which adds up to last year's $435,000 rookie minimum over 17 weeks, the highest amount ever paid to a practice squad player. The upside of the practice squad is that if a player is called up to the 53-man regular roster, either by his own team or by another team, he automatically signs a contract with the $450,000 minimum NFL salary. And because three weeks of that contract are guaranteed, even if that player is released, waived or traded before the three weeks are up, being called up comes with a $79,411 guarantee (3/17th of $450,000).
  19. Akron's athletic director used to play for the Browns, and they are wisely starting to market to area Browns (football) fans.
  20. The best marketing a coach can do is prepare his team to win games. Coach Bowden has won the last 7 out of 8 games. @CoachRobIanello tweets all the time.
  21. Saban would have failed at Kent like he did with the Dolphins because he wouldn't have superior talent at every position like he does at Bama.
  22. Can we count his pick if he thinks Lane played LB last year? He also thinks Art Briles will be at Auburn next year.
