  1. Entertaining read. Thanks for taking the time.
  2. Even though it shouldn't have taken place, what an awesome play!
  3. Great shot! I would love to know the story behind the taking of the photo. Any info? Looks like multiple people were taking the photo since JB is looking at another camera lens.
  4. 3 tackles and one pass defended in his first pro game. I'll keep an eye out for snap count and grade when pff releases. Should show up at Bolts From The Blue.
  5. Time and consistency will determine the best of the class. Good pick, but keep in mind the Browns made Scott Mitchell a football legend...for a few months.
  6. “This is who he is. This is his DNA. … He prepared like he was a five-, six-year veteran, and obviously he played that way.” --Eagles coach Doug Pederson. Why the Browns passed on him. "He did a really good job,'' said Haden, "He was more advanced than I expected him to be. He's a good quarterback. He stands in the pocket, he's able to make all the throws, very patient, and does not take off running all the time. He looks down the field and picks his receiver that he wants to throw to." On the TD to Agholor, Wentz lasered it where only the receiver could get it. "I was running with the receiver and he threw it to his outside shoulder,'' said Haden. "It was a really good ball.''
  7. No Zip fan answered all three questions correctly this week.
  8. Please stop back after the game and give your impressions of what you perceive to be the weakness, and strengths of the Zips. It's always interesting to me to read opposing fan's opinions of the Zips.
  9. How to ignore a user. I haven't had to remind members of this for awhile.
  10. I have never seen the Badgers QB play, but I know he is better than Voytik. I have never seen a Badgers WR play, but I know they are not as good as Boyd. I'm hoping the game plan is similar. Good luck.
  11. Starting time is dictated by television coverage. They have to let Akron know 12 days prior to the game. So look for an announcement near Monday.
  12. Great story. If he were to ever get a HC job in college, I would have a second team to root for. MJ would be on my interview list if I were looking.
  13. Feel free to discuss your answers below. Members that answer all three correctly will be recognized Sunday morning.
  14. Wisconsin injury list LB Chris Orr Leg out for season OL Micah Kapoi Leg "?" Saturday vs. Akron OL Logan Schmidt Head"?" Saturday vs. Akron LB T.J. Edwards Foot"?" Saturday vs. Akron OL Dan Voltz Knee out for season
  15. I don't know how many were able to watch the halftime show with Larry Williams and Bernie Kosar, but I thought it sounded well for the Akron program(s). When Bernie was asked about the Browns, he first talked about the Akron Football team, and then answered the Browns questions. Nice to have him around the program.
  16. University of Akron football: Unranked Zips face “monumental task” on Saturday against No. 10 ranked Wisconsin By Michael Beaven Beacon Journal sports writer “We throw the ball pretty quick,” Bowden said. “We get rid of the ball, and I think the offensive line had a good first day. They have room for improvement. They are going to get tested in a whole new way this week.” During the VMI game the announcer stated that the Zips offensive line is the second least experienced in the nation. Edit: I'm sorry, I mistyped. INexperienced.
  17. If anybody is interested in watching the replay, it is found here (ESPN3).
  18. Punt downed close to the goal line.
  19. The interim president, Matt Wilson was walking around the tailgate (Lot 9) introducing his family, thanking fans for coming, and conversing with anyone who wanted Saturday. He stopped by our setup and chatted for ten minutes. Matt seems like a genuine guy. I'm rooting for him. He was on the sidelines during the game doing the same. photo from pd article
  20. MTB and Newman Williams were both in. They were switching back and forth playing the H/TE back (off the line of scrimmage), blocking for a QB that threw for over 400 yards, and a running back that ran for over 100 yards. Below is MTB coming in, and Newman checking out.
  21. I think the Badgers defense will see better play from this weeks QB, than they did last week.
  22. Reading back through this thread, I'm wondering if any members are still thinking moving Jerome to receiver was a questionable decision. Jerome is second in the nation in receiving after one week.
  23. Congratulations to this weeks winners, LZip, UA1987 and MDZip guessed all three correctly. My apologies to all three, as I originally wrote there were no winners. I have no excuse.
