This doesn't surprise me at all. In about 10 years, Akron has gone from being a scaled down version of Cleveland to being more of a scaled down version of Columbus. Social researchers are just figuring this out, the genereal population's perception is usually ten years behind. At this rate, this is going to be a very nice city in 2020.

Good luck! You know it's bad out there when even engineers are having trouble. I remember when I first came here one of the big statistics the engineering college pushed was that something like 97% of their seniors had a job lined up before graduation. I'd really like to see those numbers now...

Digging this stuff up made me realize that there is just way too many politicians who have graduated from Akron. Damn law school.

I'm not exactly sure what I'm voting on here. No real question was asked. I voted as if the question was "who has had the most men on their dance squad."

I'm sorry, but does anyone else find Jake's posts incredibly hilarious? I'm not sure what it is, but he cracks me up. It must be that most people who are confrontational on a forum have the English of a 5 year old. Yet somehow, this guy manages to disagree with everyone he comes in contact with and has some of the most ridiculous(but funny) insults. "The poster child for projection, dishonest debate and exaggeration" just about put me over the top. Then again, I have a deranged sense of humor.

I couldn't agree more. I'd be willing to bet Doc Proenza feels the same way. Unfortunately, you would have to take this one up with Eric Fingerbutt. He believes that if your school doesn't start with "Ohio" and end with "State" then you simply aren't capable of having strong programs all on your own. And you better believe Can't will hang on to this whole collaboration with everything they have. With the exception of liquid crystals, I'm pretty sure that this is all that Can't has as far as modern health/science specialties go.

Some dumb broad from the Beacon asked Lebron, "what was your reason for coming back to Akron U?" I try so hard to get past that whole nickname, but when our stinking newspaper calls it Akron U...

An update on UA's bid to host the High school football state championships. http://highschoolsports.cleveland.com/news...-championships/ The other possible sites are Cincinnati(Nippert and Paul Brown), Ohio Stadium, and obviously, Stark County. Bowling Green and Toledo petitioned for a bid but both were denied. Who do you think gets it? Which would be the best decision? How do you feel about sharing it with Dicks( ) stadium?

No problem. Ahh, okay. That makes sense. So then my next question is, what happens when the East High students go back to their renovated school? Who gets the old Hower?

Watch it g-mann, you are beginning to sound a touch like Jake. Intimidated? C'mon, now. Let's be mature. I'm not taking part in one of your little cat fights. Yes, that does sound more like what I'm seeing. But for some reason I always thought that was Central Hower High. Google is calling it East High, but then where is this 'central hower' location where everyone wanted the new arena built? And what reason do the East High school students have for being on campus? Shouldn't they be in class or something. They are incredibly loud. If I saw them yelling and screaming jibberish when I was touring campus I would have never gone here. I'm sure most students feel the same way.

If you associate yourself with any alternative political group, and you have an afternoon to yourself then check it out. It certainly gives an interesting perspective. Yup. And another common complaint is UA's crappy marketing. I've found that most of the t-shirts UA has given away/sold this year are actually really cool. The Whiteout T-shirts were awesome. I also liked the 'beat Can't state' shirts they gave out at the wagon wheel game. And this new shirt for SpringFest is a little girly but it's still a cool shirt. Howard couldn't make the grades at most schools in this country. The fact that there was even a possibility of him coming to Akron without prep school should bother anyone affiliated with this university.

Are you insinuating that the early college program is housed in the student union? Otherwise, my point still stands. They are still going to pack in hoards all over campus and act obnoxious. The program is a great idea. But why do we need them to be on our campus?
