  1. Did Tressel try to pimp him here to Akron?
  2. I agree. How much would a BIG curtain cost so that we can restrict current seating to 50% of capacity and the JAR doesn't look so empty? Have you ever been to Millet Hall in Miami (OH)? What about CSU? They both have curtains and it looks terrible. I was actually thinking about the curtain at CSU. Why would the City build a 10-12,000 arena(and yes they would build it that big) to be half full. I remember back in the early 90's when the city was talking about this apart of the "crossing the tracks" project. It did not make since then and it doed not make since not. A renovated JAR does. What i cannot understand is when Infocision was built, why was the Jar not included as part of the project?
  3. "Why recruit in Europe of China" you ask. Because that would be to hard to find on a map, I answer. I say why not recruit in Europe or China? My fault, bad grammar
  4. This paragraph speaks volumes. There is a comment to be the best and only the best no matter who and where you play.
  5. I have a idea that just might work. I do not know know much about the rules about recruiting, however instead of going after JUCO's of "mid major guards(and the Zips are stacked with that). How about going to the other extreme. You want to find big men, as in F/C why recruit in Europe of China? I promise you that they have plenty there and it might be easier. Any thoughts or other ideas?
  6. How is that good news?
  7. Wouldn't be too bad until you consider exactly how close Notre Dame is. As close to a home game for them as they can get. It would certainly be a HUGE upset if we could get it done. They may be a 2 seed, but it can be done I find it funny that Fox Sports radio is already writing off the Zips, but tiring to justify ND being a 2 seed.
  8. That line says it all
  9. Looks like they were shut down today also
  10. Got to love directional michigan schools
  11. I told the folks in Santa Barbara we need to establish a Firestone Cup competition between our schools -- if we win we get a case of Santa Barbara County's finest wine, if they win they get a set of four Bridgestone steel-belted radials. They didn't seem that enthused... Maybe Drew can throw in "A new car"! Dont worry, no new cars, dont think that he will be with tpir before the soccer season starts. Can focus on talent
  12. You got me. I often correct people about that myself. Thank you!
  13. I tend to get the credit for calling the MAC the Dollar General of conferences, but it is actually the luckiest woman in the world, Mrs. GP1 who said, "Being commissioner of the MAC would be like being VP of Marketing for Dollar General. You could convince people to come to your store once to shop, but once they see the crap you are selling they won't come back." I never thought of it that way. If thats the case, them Temple won't come back
  14. A monkey....and it will select plays the same way as Latina: As you can see, we are adding two new plays. The future looks bright! You see. Tecmo Super Bowl will save us!
  15. You act like they don't exist, yet you continue to needlessly bring them up... Hey, I just stated what I think. I could have said Can't or any other school in the state for that matter. I made it a point to pick them to say there is a new player in town and to take notice. Are you saying UA soccer is a new player in town? I disagree. Maybe you just became a UA fan, but UA has been a major player in college soccer for over 20 years. I know that they been a major player for over 20 years. By "new player in town" as in dynasty, a major one. Now there is some hardware to back it up
  16. You act like they don't exist, yet you continue to needlessly bring them up... Hey, I just stated what I think. I could have said Can't or any other school in the state for that matter. I made it a point to pick them to say there is a new player in town and to take notice.
  17. We won!!!!!!! With that being said I want to remind everyone that we are good for at least several more titles. We cannot let up now for any reason. Coach Porter made it a point to build a dynasty here. We need to show the WORLD that we are more that an regional school in the shadow of OSWho and that fraud of a city to the north. We need to get the word out about the zips soccer team! We have been the real deal and the nation got to see it. Do not let it fade away, we need to keep the heat on. From the incoming players to the fans, we have to tell not only the country, but the world!
  18. Anyone know when shirts will be on sale? +1?............ +1000000!!!!! count me in!!!!!!!
  19. It’s a challenge, but I’ll give it a shot 1. How many downs will Ryan Bain play this year? 2. Will the next hoops arena be built downtown or on-campus? 3. When will the Zips finally win by 14 so that Zipmeister can start up his long-desired gambling web site? 4. What’s going to happen if the MAC only has 5 soccer playing members left???? 5. Can we fix the blasted audio on these ZTV reports already? 6. Will we begin the 2011 gridiron campaign in the infamous “Bottom 10”? 7. Hey, what’s with the band taking up all of the seats on the lower portion of the JAR? 8. Did you hear LeBron is refusing to urinate or defecate in the Q during his 1st game back, instead preferring to “hold it” until his armada makes its way to the Summit County line? 9. When will Zips and Buckeyes ever learn to “just get along”? 10. When is the NCAA going to enforce the attendance clause on us and send us back to 1-AA?? #2 is close...but it doesn't make me barf. The mere sight of any thread containing "Western Kentucky" or "Illinois State" send me sprinting to the john... Nice job, BTW! I am with you. Why would you want to take those schools. Besides, if UMass wants to make the move, DO NOT make another Temple mistake. It's all or nothing!
  20. That is my point. Other than Soccer, do anybody care about the other sports around campus?
  21. Dave in Green, After watching the game online, I noticed one thing: people did not care (at least it looked like that when I watched the game online). Is it to a point that if it is not Cant State, no one gives a Smeg about what goes on with Akron sports!? There is no excuse for the piss-poor play(sugar coat it all you want, but that is what it is), however sitting here at my CPU in Phoenix, you must have home support if you are there.
  22. I could say stop the madness, but I can totally see that!
  23. ''We can always have more [fans] and we need it,'' said Bach, the athletics spokesman. ''We're laying the foundation for a successful football and athletics program.'' My question is: Where? For me, whats keeps me coming back is very simple. I grew up there, my brother goes to school there. It was my thing to do. Even when I was a kid back in the 80's, I followed the Zips from, as my oldest brother put it, "Jar Wars!" with Huggins, to seeing players down at the pit on Carroll for a pickup game(I must be getting old). Also seeing the football team going from DII to D1. Even durning the 90's, I always supported the Zips. I want them to do well at everything!
  24. Their "out" is to transfer to a lower division and play immediately. Or transfer to another D-1 school and sit for a year. And that year costs a season of eligibility if that player had redshirted. It is a bum deal for the student athletes. Coaches can come and go as they please, but the player's options are comparatively unfair. If players had the same freedom as the coaches, however, I think it would be anarchy. The "diamonds in the rough" that a MAC school might uncover, would be likely to be "recruited" to BCS programs after said BCS program saw what they could do on the field. My take - the players are stuck. It's an unfair, but necessary evil. Worst case (i.e. being a 2010 Zips football player), you still gets a free education, and get to play football for 4 years, which is really cool when you're 18 - 23 years old. You get a personal trainer... great practice facilities...food....housing...it isn't like their rowing in the bowels of a boat... Ok...maybe it is just a little... I think also their "out" would be if the school closed, dropped their program or the death sentence happened. And yes Captian, there would be total anarchy if BCS schools saw real talent in the MAC that they could get.
