How did he do?

I am going to preface this by acknowledging that Akron is having a down year....But the early hype surrounding Western teams is an annual event. This was a pretty good weekend for East teams. Miami even had a road win. We will just have to wait and see how the renovation/reload chips fall for Akron and Ohio. The door is open for the West but can they take advantage? Edit: I still think the guys will turn it around in MAC play.

Dambrot equals stability. Team attitude is lacking right now and the finger is pointing in two directions. Abreu would have been a good senior leader and motivator. That sounds strange given the way things turned out. Dambrot plays chess years in advance with his player recruiting and team dynamics. I love that he rarely brings in juco players but unforseen situatiins ala 5 pound fridays can leave the team missing key components. We need a point guard and a senior leader...kd had him.

Sure. The zips started hitting 3s and stopped giving up breaks. End of story. Good D but little shift in detroit's performance.

Temple SUCKS all around.

Jake is a great defender but Detroit's box stats look pretty much identical from 1st to 2nd half. Detroit had fewer rebounds in the second due to the Zips hitting more shots. 30 points were scored in both halves, assists, turnovers, shooting all pretty much the same. fewer steals in the second due to Q working the point. Bottom line the zips are a better team.

The jury is still out on Toledo as well. EMU is a nice bonus rpi booster but unfortunately the western resurgence is filling a void left by some slippage in the East.

Yesterday's game was great entertainment. Thanks to Tree, Diggs, Evans, Reggie, Jake, Harney, and PAT! Pat really impressed me yesterday. He was aggressive down low and didn't lose focus. I really appreciate the team making a Wednesday night fun. Game was full of drama but for the first time this year the crowd roared enough to force a visitor timeout.

This time around the Browns actually have top talent at WR and TE. Previous top QB picks didn't stand a chance. Still missing a RB but you could do both in the off season.

Took guts and drive to work his way back. Nice work!

In 2012-2013 the Zips hit a league worst 64% (436/678) of their free throws. It is getting old and is a major "next step" if they want to beat better teams.

I don't pay attention to RPI until the start of MAC play. There is a bunch of variability in rankings due to nobody really knowing what each team brings to the court. Can't, Akron, and OU are usually in the top 100 this time of year.

I enjoyed watching and hearing Zipswin! call out the officials. Tree put on a show.

I predicted that KD would run the big minutes guys the entire game. Diggs gave up some min to Carmelo/Nyles/Big Dog. Need to get PG and Post figured out before the big games start. I hope Melo is able to handle the loss in status. He needs to work on his handles vs the press and shooting. Too early in the season for the bench bunch.

1.) Tree looked great and relaxed for the first time this year. Good scoring and effort. More please 2.) Harney played well and got some points in the paint. More please 3.) Jake and Reggie knocked down some shots. More please 4.) Big Dog is looking better each game 5.) Nyles Evans with better handles and hit some shots....also didn't s%$t the bed against the press 6.) Deji was crashing the boards and putting points on the board 7.) Diggs looked good at the point but needs to stop the dribble drive. Good effort all around. This game showed how hard the team is working on their individual weaknesses. The entire team played better together and KD has set his 10 deep rotation.

Oh yeah...forgot to look at the details and timeline of improvements. The data 2020 and 150th anniversary mean nothing to the process of improvement and/or mist zips fans. Dates should be set on development timelines and realistic estimates and resources. Until I see the plans the 2020 date will be considered arbitrary. Feasibility Study 2012 So should the headline have touted "AD spends 50-100K on consultants to run a feasibility study of the arena situation only to leave the situation unresolved through possibly 2020 and the are probably going to decide at that point to renovate the jar and will end up spending more money than building a new arena would have cost and also displacing the basketball team for more years than expected/projected and now looking for bids for a complete renovation of a facility that is not entirely a bad idea but the pooch will be screwed by poor decision making " That has a certain ring to it.

I have 3 comments on this: 1.) I proposed the 2020 Vision Plan for Success about 6 months ago. Apparently they do read these forums 2.) It is crazy to let an arbitrary date like 2020 frame strategic direction. It was clearly chosen w/o much thought by a marketing hack. 3.) This is the kind of fluff you get when people are learning on the job. All of the buzzwords and lack of specifics call attention to the fact that the plan is merely a paperwork exercise. Also, there are many people employed by the University to drive athletics strategy. Seems to me like they are asleep at the wheel because the new strategy is just regurgitated/warmed over industry jargon and buzzwords. Akron Athletics needs to apply some creativity. Please do not rely on generic plan elements "borrowed" from the historical haplessness of college athletics strategery.

I wonder if the Strategic 2020 Vision was reliant on the BCS money?

I actually enjoyed the condensed seating. I was on the east side amongst all of the toledo fans. It was nice to hear them complain and enjoyed taunting them with the other zips fans in the area. THe condensed seating plan actually made me feel like I was at a college football game. Great time!
