We're already at a point where we need to start hitting 3s just to keep the announcers talking about our game. Not a good spot.

I'm getting more and more worried about losing Zeke. I keep telling myself that Pat will improve with more minutes, but he's a defensive liability right now.

I watch a fair amount of college basketball, but that isn't the point. We're a MAC team. This was our at large opportunity. That is now out the window — beyond out the window — out of the yard. We still have a good chance of a favorable draw, but in terms of the national spotlight (which is what we need more than anything), we're fried until we win a NCAA Tourney game.

HORSE. SHIT. With this talented of a team, we should stomp at team like UB. I refuse to swallow losses like tonight's. A loss like this puts us in a much tougher position to win a NCAA Tournament game (if we even get there).

Right. Reghi said that every team will have a chance for a NCAA Tournament seed through the MAC tourney. Like usual. Why is that a good thing for Akron? If we weren't playing garbage teams like NIU, EMU, etc. we would still be considered for an at large spot. Here's my ripping on the football team statement: If our football team could play at a .500 level, we could get into a much better conference. We're way up there in terms of facilities and secondary sport talent. If we even had an 'up-and-coming' football program, we might have a chance to get out of the garbage heap that is the MAC.

Witherspoon said many nice things about the Zips during his postgame interview on STO. I think he'd be a great dark horse candidate for a bigger job. I'd love to see what he could do with five Javon McCreas. Good game by Zeke. Needed to get him the ball more often. Tree will look good in the box score, but he was shut down by McCrea and wasn't really a factor. Outside shooters (and I don't mean Harney) need to start hitting some shots if we want to win a game in the MAC Tournament. Overall though, there is not enough alcohol in my house to get me through the final 3.5 hours of the night...

Someone call the overreaction police. If you want to keep losing in the first round of the tournament, we can continue to play hot in February. If you want to win a game in the tournament, you want to get your sloppy basketball out of the way now and get hot at the begininning of the MAC tournament. Quit freaking out about a bad HALF of basketball.

No. Just...no. Porter wants to coach soccer at the highest level. He stayed at UA longer than any fan could have expected. We should be proud that we sent a coach up the ladder and not just to another university.

I just don't get it. I know Cleveland media is anti-Akron when it comes to sports (except UA soccer, it seems), but CSU and Can't State are both down right now in basketball. Why not encourage support for the closest good team? He almost wrote a positive article, but had to get a jab in...

I'm not attacking, just stating the facts. STO hired these guys on the cheap because they'd both been tossed out with the trash. Neither of them are very good at their jobs on top of it. As someone who works in sports journalism in the area, I know way too many fair-minded, qualified people that don't have jobs because of 'names' like Galeti and Drennan.

Who cares about that guy? He's an alcoholic midget that is below average at everything about sports broadcasting except getting fired. He and Bruce Drennan (also a criminal) talk with authority about Cleveland sports but in reality, neither of them know any more than your average fan. They both display their ignorance on a regular basis.

Pretty easy to get to 2,000 points when you take 30 shots a game for 4 years... Shall we compare DJ Cooper's FG% to some MAC players? He's hit some big shots throughout his career, but after this year he as no future in organized basketball.

Agreed. I'm not saying anything bad against Zeke or the Zips. I think he'd fit on a lot of high profile teams and put up similar, if not better stats.

Awesome stat, for sure, but I'm not sure it's fair to the other two players. Zeke is defending mid-major athletes (or worse). The others are facing much better teams/players, on average.

vs. Oklahoma State - L, 69-65 at Detroit - L, 80-73 What do those games have in common? Akron playing on TV. Hope this isn't a trend.
