  1. i don't know... Mack hired Coach Kest at Akron and knows what she has done there. Since Mack is at Houston now, and networking is a major part of sports, it would not suprise me if Kest gets a call from Mack You do have a point on Cooper. She was 2 time WNBA MVP, and coached the Phoenix Mercury in the WNBA before taking on the college level. Here's some of her stats: 05-06 had a record of 7-21 in her first year at Prairie A&M. 06-07 had a record of 19-14 and went to NCAA tourney and lost to UNC first round. 07-08 had a record of 22-12 and went to WNIT and lost to Texas State by one point. 08-09 had a record of 23-11 and went to NCAA tourney and played Oklahoma first round. this year going 16-12 with 3 seniors, 8 juniors, 2 sophomores, and a freshman on the team this year. Todd Buchannan has done an okay job at Houston Baptist. He had a record of 28-4 and 27-6 his first 2 seasons at HBU; however, they weren't in D1 or even the NCAA at that time. Ever since joining the NCAA in 2007, they went 25-57 combined record over the last 3 seasons with a 3-25 record this past year, 8-21 year before, and 14-11 the year before that... It's close between Kest and Cooper in my opinion. Buchannan not that far since i don't ever doubt Mack's decisions, but he must see something i don't see in his stats as a coach. It might do with resources that he'll have at Houston and not BU, or what, but he doesn't seem too far behind possibly. So we'll find out soon, and hopefully we'll still have a coach and or coaches by start of next week...
  2. These were the 3 that i was told that were transferring...i just wanted a source out other than me on it first...I heard that Swiech has an offer from Walsh...since Walsh made it to the NAIA national championship game last year but lost with no inside prescence, then i must say that Walsh is probably where he is going.... Sullivan was the one all year that i thought would transfer with all of our guards coming back(at that time), and another possible guard in Michael Green(he's a SF in hs, probably a guard in college), but probably will move down as well... Steward is really suprising to me when i heard of it. I had to ask several times if he really was transferring after hearing it the first time. He's one of those players that I thought could of started or been a regular in the rotation in half of the MAC schools(basically the West division)...so he may go to a lower D1 school like a Cleveland State, or a Youngstown State, or even a Robert Morris? We'll find out soon enough...
  3. i got pics on my phone but i can't figure out how to get them from my phone to the internet...
  4. Might be nice if you spelled his name right. And second, i don't want to get started on this again please
  5. I would guess that if Humpty is unhappy, it would have more to do with the Zips' slow style of play and KD moving him to the 2-guard spot rather than a lack of minutes on the floor. Humpty's a PG who is FAST. His talents are best utilized running up & down the floor, not walking the ball up for a half-court set. I hope KD swallows his pride and simply turns Humpty loose next year. Humpty & Egner would be murder running the floor. Also, Zeke can really run for a 7-footer. Turn them loose, KD. They're the show, not you. +1 If you looked at the teams who beat us this year during the regular season(Can't twice, ohio in championship, Rhode Island, etc.), their coaches let them play a "loose" style of game...that's why they...im going to say the word... look "athletic"
  6. I was in a class yesterday, and was talking to a football player who sits in front of me, and he said that Devoe was kicked off the team along with 6 other players, due to already breaking the new conduct policy by Ianello.
  7. Great We already lost to this coach...but I hardly thought that most of the players even tried that night...oh well...
  8. It really depends. I think it could happen, but before seeing what the MAC West is losing(first name that comes to my head is Kool), I think that could be a real possiblility. I know Eastern Michigan is losing Carlos Medlock(thank goodness)...I'm not sure if Higgins graduates or not, but I know Bowdry will still be there another year. Western Michigan will miss the MAC player of the year but has a few nice pieces that could make some noise if they make huge strides. Ball State i think will lose Davis but still have Jarod Jones and their other big guy im not sure if he's a junior or a senior. If Toledo's guys and coach would of been together..they might of came out of the cellar...but that program is so dysfunctional right now, Toledo needs a "Jody Kest" type of a coach to get back into contention or even rebuilding for that matter. I don't know much about either Northern Illinois or Central Michigan but I believed i read somewhere that they are young. If that's the case, then they could contend if their players develop wel over the offseason. Overall, I think that the MAC East will still have the #1 seed come tourney time, but it wouldn't suprise me if we see more MAC West teams with first round byes or home games come tourney time.
  9. I understand...when i heard from the basketball player i talked to, i was still a little skeptical if he was telling me the right info or not since he might of been just jealous that he doesn't get enough playing time. I just took it as credible cause i heard the same info from other people and other players also...
  10. According to Dave in Green's scholarship/walk-on list, the 3 players are scholarship players and the one maybe is a scholarship player and has had more PT this year than the 3 confirmed combined all year. I'm not trying to be a troll. I heard something, and saw someone say "very interesting offseason" and i was putting my take on it. You asked, I answered with what I know without giving out the names. If the moderators think I'm being a troll, fine...I'll delete my account from ZN and just read as a guest and never comment on here again. I'm a student at U of Akron so this is how I find out my information. My major is sports-related and I have friends in my classes that are even closer friends to the players. I talk to a football player 3 times out of the week about their practices and workouts and he told me what he thinks about Coach Ianello and the rest of the coaching staff. Do I expect you to believe me, of course not. Can you respect that I tried to give you some info(even if it's not the players' names) while being told not even to mention it to anyone? Well, that's up to you, but I hope so. We are all fans of our Zips and I know that everyone that write on here is to talk about Zips(well, we have the occasional Can't, ohio, and buffalo fan comment), and the last thing I would do is give some false information that once the official report comes out, would embarass me and ruin my little reputation already as a fan. All I ask is just please give me a chance, and if I fail, ignore all my posts or just burn my account away...I'll leave that up to the moderators. In one of my classes alone, I have a softball player, a baseball player, a soccer player, and a women's basketball player in my one class along with someone that works in the AD's secretary office as an aide...that's all i have to say...see you all at the baseball game today...cause that's where i'll be at when 3pm gets here.
  11. From what I have heard from an inside source, interesting is an understatement... Care to elaborate? They told me to keep it private...someone heard from the inside and told me to keep it quiet. There are 3 players that confirmed last tuesday to Dambrot that they are transferring. There is also one player who is debating to stay on the team or to transfer. I'll let you guys guess who since I don't want to be the spoiler We don't take too kindly to your type round here. I'll tell you this much...3 out of the 4 i mentioned are backcourt players...that's all i'll say...

  14. Balogun had the assist of Mwila and Nanchoff had the assist for Balogun..
  15. halftime #5 Akron 37 #4 Wichita State 26 in other action.... in 1st half... #8 UMKC 28 #1 Memphis 20
  16. looks like the winner of Akron-UWGB will be traveling to Saint Louis. They beat Rhode Island at home by 5, and lost to Rhode Island on nuetral court in first round of A-10 tournament. Saint Louis also lost at Bowling Green by a score of 55-50.
  17. After reading that, I now understand how he has over 3000pts and 1500 rebounds. He started playing varsity as a 7th grader? Kentucky has a strange system. they just won a tournament last weekend.
  18. The Athletic Director does the calling to other schools for scheduling, but Dambrot tells Wistrcill(or whoever is in charge of basketball), how he wants the schedule the non-conference games. He can suggest schools, he can tell what type of schedule(brutal, hard, medium, easy, cupcake), and AD Wistrcill tries to follow those set by Dambrot.
  19. http://www.gazellegroup.com/events/cbi/new...cbi_100314.html March 16 Indiana State at Saint Louis March 17 Green Bay at Akron March 16 VCU at George Washington March 17 Charleston at Eastern Kentucky March 17 Boston University at Oregon State March 17 Colorado State at Morehead State March 17 IUPUI at Hofstra March 17 Duquesne at Princeton
  20. Josh Egner and Massillon Jackson will be taking on Akron East in the Regional Semifinals on Thursday at 7pm or 6pm at the JAR. I'll probably be going...anyone else?
  21. If this doesnt cement the fact that we need to upgrade our NC schedule then nothing does. No reason should a 24 win team not be in the NIT. 16-16 North Carolina made the NIT...that's sad...

  24. Freeman seems to pick up a lot of charges on players also..Nik and the rest of the team has to watch that when they penetrate to the hoop in my opinion...
