  1. here's another writer's take from the story(and other things in the area) from ohio in steubenville http://www.hsconnect.com/page/content.deta...7.html?nav=5013
  2. how many Can't students does it take to screw in a lightbulb? None...They have to take a class on what a lightbulb does and how it works before screwing in a lighbulb...
  3. I had offers from multiple D1 schools but i never even spoke to anyone at Akron. No surprise. One of the players from Wadsworth that went to Can't and never even got a look from Akron is Andy Sonnanstine, he's spent multiple years in the Rays starting rotation, even pitching in the World Series. The other is Drew Saylor who tore it up for Can't State after starting his career at Cincinnati, he is not playing for the Crushers single A team in Avon. It's amazing how much talent Akron passes up locally. +1 Freshman Evan Campbell from West Branch didn't get a look at from Akron from what I've known, but Can't State gave him a scholarship, and he is now their starting 2B all season and is batting around .300
  4. I just don't understand how we can be 2-4 in the Big Ten, lose by a total of 4 runs in 2 games to #20 in the nation, Pittsburgh, and be 3-23 in the Mid-American Conference...
  5. The doors really aren't locked, it's said that for a week but they dont actually lock the doors. Btw, a few hours ago I was playing a few pickup games in Memorial and Quincy Diggs came in and shot around for a while. Looks like he has a nice shot and a decent wingspan for his size. He was a little shy but very friendly as well. I know a few other ZN.o members were there playing and say him there too. Yep, I saw him there too. He said it's cold up here(wait til winter). A pick-up player told him he should go to Akron when he was shooting around at a different hoop(Diggs was wearing a Wichita State shirt), and Diggs says he does and he transferred. He's got a big wingspan like RootforRoo44 said, and he looks like he's a better shooter than Hitchens, maybe even better than Brett McKNight or even Steve McNees. I know a lot of people are going to tear into you for saying that last line but from watching him shoot around for over a half hour i can tell you he has a pretty sweet shot. He looks like a BALLER. I'm okay with that. They have their opinions, I have mine...

  7. I missed 8, but those 8 were Notre Dame(don't know how I missed that), Pittsburgh, California, Clemson, Texas A&M, Wisconsin, North Carolina State, and Syracuse. I also guessed Arizona and Illinois which showed up as 7 and 9 respectively. Not bad for only being on Planet Earth for 19 of those years...
  8. I'm not impressed with the JAR, but I don't have a problem with having it for a few more years. Let's take care of the sports that are helping this university first(soccer). Then if we get the funds for a new basketball arena, so be it. After playing basketball in Memorial a few times, I'm sad to see it go after looking so peaceful and historic in there knowing that fans at one time used to sit in those seats, and at one time, the same floor I'm playing on, Bob Huggins used to coach the Akron Zips. It will be hard to see it go as I've been attached to it as I have had many classes in there as well. My grandparents told me how they used to go to Memorial Hall in high school for swimming at a pool that used to be in Memorial Hall and things like that. My grandma even told me that a girl drowned there one time she was there. I want to look around there so much more to get a feel of it, just like Miranda Lambert's song "House that Built Me". But I want to see how other people were built into what they are now(for example, Bob Huggins)... It needs to be done. But compared to JAR, the JAR is better. Compared to other BCS schools, not as much. Compared to other MAC Schools, I think we are fine right now. Let it be the way it is unless you got the money to help it out. I'm doing my part by paying tuition, what are you doing? Arguing about the JAR on a thread about Memorial Hall? Arguing with another poster with insults and backlash when this is a discussion about Memorial Hall and the names on the front of Memorial Hall? Let's put the toys away, and start acting like Akron Zips fans and not Joe Smoe elementary fans...
  9. whoever voted that we're going 0-12, must be the gardner-webb fan
  10. IS the game this saturday in Columbus sold out?
  11. I expect to hear more on name recognitiopn instead of the ratings because I don't always agree with ESPN's ratings... Here's the past 3 years from ESPN: 2008: http://insider.espn.go.com/ncb/recruiting/...8%26confId%3d14 2009: http://insider.espn.go.com/ncb/recruiting/...9%26confId%3d14 2010: http://insider.espn.go.com/ncb/recruiting/...0%26confId%3d14
  12. here's the thread with the plans: http://zipsnation.org/forums//index.php?showtopic=16075
  13. Straight from the Cleveland Cavalier's twitter page: "Fans are invited to a major NBA and Cavs Press Conference on Sunday afternoon at 4PM at Rhodes Arena on the campus of the Univ. of Akron"
  14. I heard noon. 19 action news says it is open to the public but never said the time...

  17. this is the new jersey for the friendly matches this year(2 friendlies)
  18. This is what they usually wear:
  19. At least that's good for Dambrot...he'll already be playing Mt. Union, Hiram, and U of Phoenix twice every year in that conference...even though Phoenix's branch(Online) could give us some trouble on the hardwood...We may want to try for a different division or conference when playing soccer

  21. I just don't see Nik as a center on defense...he just seems to small...I could see as a PF, not a C... Here's my lineup with the starters in blue, and red for redshirt: PG: Abreu, McNees, Hitchens SG: Hitchens, Roberts, Green, Petersen SF: Egner, B. McKnight, Diggs, Oldham PF: Bardo, Euton, Cvetinovic C: Marshall, Bardo, Euton
  22. I think Ianello wanted to feel at home and brought the Notre Dame practice jerseys with him to Akron
  23. Ha-ha, no insults Mr. Mes. Just saying that as you had sensitive information and were reluctant to share regarding the basketball team (which I completely respect and agree with) others may have similar information regarding possible donations. People and companies have been approached and they are considering. Patience... that's fine...i have a hard time telling who is giving sarcasm and who isn't...i thought you might of just given me a hard time and a shot to the gut after that...but i understand what you are saying. Companies don't want words leaking out that they are donating money in advance and have other places on tehir doorstep the next hour asking for donations as well...
  24. first of all... i was waiting to see if they were going to change their minds and i didn't want fans to say "i don't want them on our team if they wanted to transfer earlier" type comments...they're still college STUDENTS, and I was trying to respect that...you can ask zachthezip,lilroodude,j-rod, and rootforroo44 about it cause they all knew about it from the same source. What i was trying to get at is that you said that ZachtheZip knew very little...He's been to every Zip athltic event I've remembered the last 3 years and ran into him at the softball DH vs YSU and baseball game vs Pittsburgh on that tuesday last week. He's just throwing ideas out there to probably nothing because all people do on this forum is talk about what they're going to do, but never do what they talked about. I would go all day every day of the week for this fundraising but i have school and final exams coming up in less than 3 weeks. So I can't be any help for 3 weeks on spending all day on finding ways to raise money for this project, but I'll at least try to donate my portion when i get my paycheck... insults in 3, 2, 1....
