They're limiting the students to the first 2,000 entries. Does anyone know how early I should get there to guarantee a spot. If I show up at 7:00 for the march will that be early enough?

When I came to UA last year I never would have dreamed that I'd be doing this, but I'm planning on bringing an OSU shirt to the game to trade in. Go Zips!

Tying the NCAA record for the number of consecutive clean sheets in a row will not be easy. According to Tulsa's site, they're leading the nation by averaging three goals per game. Of course, they really haven't played anyone tough yet. Should be a great match. Can't wait!

Looks like Tulsa will be coming into Akron with a draw on their resume. They tied 1-1 with Missouri State.

Hmmm... looks like the mix up over dates was on the PD's side. When I first began this topic and linked to the article there was no mention of this first appearing 3 years ago. I think the PD must have recently added that. In fact the article dates back to September 17, 2010 with an edit on September 20. My only guess that the edit was to ad the editor's note.

A lot of people on here are speculating about whether or not the soccer team will outdraw the football team. One thing is for sure is that we should have no trouble outdrawing the Indians. This is really kinda sad. I remember the good old days when the "Jake" was packed every night. Go Zips!

I went to the home opener this year ( caught a Blue Jackets game afterwards ) and we had no trouble with walk ups. I wouldn't worry about it.

You have to remember, last year we had three freshmen on the back line and made it to the College Cup. I'm confident Porter will bring in freshmen next year that fit right in. I'm not to worried about losing Nagbe. I think that the Jamaicans will be able to step up and fill his shoes pretty well. Enough about next year though! Let's focus on this year and becoming Go Zips!

Could you imagine the notoriety the Rowdies would receive if we packed up a bus or two and followed the soccer team to every away game? I know as a member I would jump at such an opportunity. I can't wait for the OSU game later this month.

My friend at the game said that Kofi actually scored an own goal. So I guess we're down 1-0. Edit: I guess I was lied to. I'm going to kill him. lol

The stats indicate that the Zips are dominating. 16 shots and 10 corners for the Zips to 1 shot and no corners for BGSU. My guess is that the falcons are just packing it in trying to play defense and hoping they get lucky on a counter. This is a lousy way to play the game, but a good experience for the Zips. We'll probably see a lot of that this year.

Doesn't the ACC pay in Confederate currency? In any case, as long as Coach Porter is at UA, the Zips should remain a consistent top 5 or 10 team almost every season. As long as they're so highly ranked, the need for an automatic conference bid is irrelevant. Unlike basketball, the Zips soccer team should have a lock on an at-large tournament bid every season. Likewise, as long as the Zips are recognized as one of the top teams in the country, they will have no problem scheduling games with other top-ranked teams. So no need to belong to a strong conference to put together a tough schedule as in football or basketball. What Boise State of the lowly WAC is to college football and Butler of the lowly Horizon League is to college basketball, UA is to college soccer, only more so. Neither Boise State nor Butler have ever been ranked #1, though like UA Butler did reach the national championship game before losing. UA soccer is currently in a rare position in college sports comparable to what Notre Dame used to hold in football. UA is currently so good with Coach Porter at the helm that the Zips could be an independent, put together a schedule against virtually any teams they want and be dominant year after year. It's really pretty amazing just how good UA soccer is right now. We Zips fans just don't have much experience at thinking in terms of leveraging the status of being on top of the heap as opposed to being in the middle or bottom of the heap trying to figure out what it takes to climb out of the hole. I agree with what you've said. As long as Porter's here it doesn't matter if we're from a top conference. Unfortunately, its probably unreasonable to expect Porter to be here for his whole career. If we took this opportunity to switch conferences, wouldn't this help us with recruiting if, god-forbid, Porter decided to move onto another position?
