  1. It's hard for me to discuss this subject without knowing too much about the incoming Freshmen. Obviously, we have two highly touted freshmen coming in that sound like they'll be able to fill in the left and right back spots fairly well. Does anyone know what position in the MF that Trapp plays? He was the #4 recruit this year according to Top Drawer, so you would think that Porter would find a place for him. If he plays a holding mid role, then I could see Kitchen moved back to CB and if he played an attacking mid then maybe he would take over for Ampai. I could also see Brenes taking over for Kitchen so that he could slide back into Valentin's role. That's the great thing about this team, there is a lot of flexibility here. btw, Does anyone know when the underclassmen must declare for the draft?
  2. Nice first half, but that was the most mis-leading 5 point lead I've ever seen. We gave up 17 O boards in the first half. Anyone watching that game could see what was going to happen when the Gophers heated up a bit. We've gotta figure out a way to stop those scoring droughts. That kills us every time.
  3. Soccer team got a shout out tonight on the Big Ten Network during the Zips game against Minnesota. Also highlighted was our record against the B10.
  4. I found a free demo software that allowed me to record my desktop and the audio coming out of the speakers. I just finished recording the game off of ESPN3.com and it seemed to work great. The only drawback is that your computer becomes virtually useless for the two hours + that the game is recording. Also, your computer needs to be in a quiet area of the house given that the program picks up any ambient noise also. The software can be found over at cnet.com. Hope this helps.
  5. I was wondering if there was some way to record ESPN3. I know they usually have games available for replay for about a week. I've got the games DVR'd, but all it takes is one person trying to free up space for those to be gone forever.
  6. Even though the rally was cancelled it looks like people still turned out to welcome them back. I would have been there if I could have gotten out of the driveway.
  7. As much as I hate LeBron, he did just put out the word of our soccer program to the millions of people that follow him on twitter. Kinda conflicted on this one.
  8. get some pictures and video And here ya go: I'm assuming that this was taken from the practice field given that the ones in the Pouch are permanent. Awesome nonetheless!
  9. According to GoZips.com, there will be a welcome back rally tomorrow at 7:30 A.M. A formal recognition will happen when class gets back in. I'm going to do everything in my power to make it out in the morning, but my drive is snowed in at the moment...
  10. I don't get how people could be so dumb as to think that Porter would go to NC State. That is asinine. He turned down his alma mater last year for goodness sake. And it's not like it was any school either, it was the most storied school in NCAA soccer. If Porter leaves, it will be for the MLS and the hopes of coaching the USMNT. To be honest, if he does so in a couple of years then I will be fine with that. All I ask for is another national championship before he moves on to the next level. Porter:
  11. Awesome! I had an ear to ear smile while watching that. Well done guys!
  12. What time? I would love to join in welcoming back the
  13. Prez, as a fellow member of the Rowdies, all I have to say is "Thank You." What you and the other head Rowdies have established over the past 5 years is simply amazing. I feel like I owe it to you guys for giving me a great deal of school pride. Of course, the soccer team has a lot to do with that to . Wish I could have made the trip to SB and I think that not going is something that I'll regret for a long time to come. As to having the recognition at the Can't game, I see a couple problems. First, I won't be in town for that. I'm sure no one else cares though . Second, that is just days before the MLS Superdraft. With the loss of 5-6 starters to the draft, you would wander if they would be able to be in town for the Can't game. Third, that date is a month away. I want to do something NOW! I'm still on cloud nine after that win and will be for the next week or so. Let's do something while the memory is still fresh.
  14. It feels so good to tell someone else "There's always next year." Now I know what next year feels like and it's freaking awesome!
  15. YEEEAAAHHHH!!!!
  16. This is probably a really dumb question, but do you have to be 21 to get into the Barley House?
  17. Absolutely amazing game, besides that early slip up and about a five minute stretch in the second half when Saad clanged one off the post, the Zips dominated. Really should have scored a few more goals too. Did anyone else see on ESPN2 that there were a bunch of fans wearing Rowdies shirts and Gaucho scarves? Great to see that Ian and the rest of the Rowdies are doing some recruiting on the West Coast.
  18. It's here!!! Game Day! I've been waiting for this for just under a year now. Come on Zips, bring this championship home! I love this song on game days. Such an awesome football song.
  19. I love the footage of the Rowdies after Scotty's goal. That's pretty much how I remember it. One giant mosh pit. That's one of those things that sets soccer apart from basketball and football, the scoring plays are that much more exciting. Great memory.
