  1. The game will be broadcast on 1350 AM. Also, will be streamed on BigTenNetwork.com for a $7.95 monthly subscription to Penn State sports coverage and re-broadcasted on the Big Ten Network on Thursday at 4:00 P.M. Lot's of ways to follow this one.
  2. Penn State beat Michigan State this afternoon 2-1. Hopefully we're up to full strength for what should be a hard fought battle on Wednesday.
  3. Akron got out shot and seemingly out possessed. Just from the box score, it looks like we were lucky to escape with the win. NIU seems to know how to play us tough. Hopefully Akron has a good bounceback win against Penn State. We've been really good this year coming off of games that we played poorly. It would be nice to see a little consistency. We've played 3 poor games this year, NIU, Cincinatti, and OSU. You could also count the USF exhibition match. You can't get away with that in the tourney.
  4. Zips strike first in the 15th minute. Darren Mattocks with his 7th goal.
  5. As this video gains popularity- pushing 90k views- I really wish we had some footage of OSWho fans giving him a standing O as he was walking off the field to splice in with the vid. Show the world who OSU fans really are.
  6. Hold on now -- is BigTen Net broadcasting this nationally? Inquiring minds, and hula hands...(not to mention Big Chuck). Here's the programming schedule for next Thursday. I would assume that it will be national. As long as you get the BTN. I just wish they were broadcasting it live. Edit: Looks like the link takes you to today's programming schedule. You're going to need to select next Thursday from the drop down box.
  7. Unfortunately, 4 hours is a long drive for a Wednesday night. Wish they had the PSU and MSU games on a Saturday. Then I'd definitely be up for a couple road trips. I know that the Big Ten Network is broadcasting the game through their StudentU programming on Thursday at 4:00. They'll also be streaming it live on heir website, and the cheapest subscription fee is a $6.95 monthly subscription.
  8. May be it has something to do with there awesome soccer stadium. This has got to be one of the nicest college stadiums in the country.
  9. Looks like the game on the 27th is shaping up to be our toughest match up remaining. Creighton knocked off Tulsa last night 3-1, to improve to a 8-1 record. Looks like STO picked a good game to televise!
  10. I'm going to say for polling purposes as long as we don't lose tonight we will remain #1 pretty easily. College Soccer News kept the Zips at #1 but Top Drawer Soccer dropped Akron to #2 (behind Louisville of all people). Think it was mostly just to shake things up a little bit, Lousiville really didn't deserve that kind of a leap. They also tied OSU but the rest of their schedule is not exactly composed of juggernauts. Top Drawer must have something against our Zips. They were the only pre-season poll to not rank us #1. In reality, their poll is essentially meaningless anyways. The NSCAA poll comes out tomorrow. Bet they have the Zips at #1.
  11. This thread over at Big Soccer about the top coaches in NCAA soccer may have had something to do with his decision. Looks like his grandfather was paying attention to the debate. Porter is the man!
  12. Agreed. If you're going to have to buy tickets, then they'll make you go in the SE gate. Best spot to park may in fact be in one of the lots next to the JAR if they're not blocked off for the Cavs.
  13. Judging from the video, a lot of empty seats. What gives? PS What's up with taking your shirt off when you score? The main grandstand was on the near side of the field, which can't be seen from the camera angle. There were over 7,000 there.
  14. Does anyone know how to pull just the red card clip out of this video and put it on youtube? I'd love to be able to pull that clip up whenever we play the Bucks as a little reminder and extra inspiration.
  15. I can't find it anywhere online. Of course, OSU didn't include it in their highlight package. I think the only way to get a hold of the footage would be to buy a one month subscription to Suckeye Vision and watch the archived replay of the game. It really was one of the dirtiest fouls I've ever seen. Nagbe was on the ground, play was stopped, and Warzycha turned back towards his own goal and fired a laser at Darlington. Outrageous. That's what I love about UA soccer. Win, lose, or tie, we play with class.
  16. There's a saying that if you played poorly enough to let the refs decide the game for you, you don't deserve to win. I gotta agree with that. The fact is, if we played like we did against Tulsa we would have blown OSU away. The annoying thing is that on those goals, 95% of the time our defenders get those balls cleared away. Just so happened that it happened twice in one game. This may even serve as a wakeup call, and end up being a good thing for this team As I was walking across campus today all ticked off about last night, I had to smile. We're all pissed because we tied a game against a quality side. It's exciting to have a team that we expect perfection from night in and night out. This is just one small misstep on the way to the College Cup and . Go Zips!
  17. Just got back from C-bus. The back line didn't communicate very well tonight, and is ultimately the reason we tied. That being said, the referee was a joke, Akron guys would get pushed around, and when we'd push back, the ref would call a foul on us. This was routine. The yellow that he handed out to Caldwell was an absolute joke. OSWho played a pretty dirty game. That red card was one of the dirtier plays I've ever seen. Nagbe was dribbling up the middle of the pitch, when he was tripped up. While he was laying on the ground the Suckeye turned around and fired a laser at Nagbe's head from about 10 feet away. It was blatant and disgusting. Not sure if the NCAA hands out multi game suspensions, but this guy deserves one. Then as the carded player was walking off the field a large number of OSU fans were giving him a standing O. Totally classless. I hope we get them again in the tourney and destroy them.
  18. The Columbus Dispatch did a write up on Akron soccer today. Here's the link.
  19. OT: Darren Mattocks was a Capital One Performer of the week or something like that on ESPN. Too bad they didn't show any highlights. Link is here if you're interested.
  20. I'm heading down their with a couple friends. I know that the Rowdies' bus could take 180 people. Should be a good turnout of Akron fans.
  21. USF lost 4-0 to UConn last night.
  22. Slightly OT, but as I was watching the match last night I was thinking. Is Korb the most underrated player on the team. He never makes mistakes and is capable of pushing the ball up the field. Great player.
  23. Besides playing area issues, there is also the issue of the artificial turf. Soccer balls play differently on turf than on grass.
  24. Good article from Soccer by Ives on tonight's matchup. Can't freaking wait till 8:00! GO ZIPS!
  25. The one thing I remember about the quarterfinal match last year, is that in the final 20 minutes, they started getting off shots left and right. It was pretty nerve wracking being a fan. lol I think part of that might have been playing not to lose, and we just packed it in, but Tulsa didn't look that out matched. Tonight I think we win 2-1. With the Zips possessing the ball the majority of the time. Tulsa will probably capitalize on a quick counter for their only goal.
