As much as it sucks Zippy won't be there, I have to admit they are doing a great job with the twitter feed. I love having an inside look at what's going on out there in Cali.
Simply for storyline, I want Louisville to win. Ken Lolla losing in the Nat'l Championship to the school he left because he didn't believe was capable of winning a championship would be something straight out of a movie. That said, I have confidence we could beat either team.
I don't know if anyone from Michigan is ever mentally healthy but physically I believe so.
Thanks. Just wondering if there was any reason that their level of play has jumped so much over the past month. I'm going to go with 3-1. Hoping that the D can finally make a stand this tourney.
If you would like to follow the team as they head out to the College Cup, then follow Zippy on twitter. There has already been a few tweets from in the airport and a few pictures posted also. Go Zips!
I'm going to do something similar on Friday. The game is too late to make me want to drive all the way to Akron anyways. This way we can watch both games too. If the Zips take care of Michigan I will be sure to head down to Akron on Sunday so that I can hopefully enjoy a championship surrounded by fellow Zips fans.
Anyone notice that the "This is Akron" video they played tonight had been updated to include footage from the tournament play so far? Pretty cool stuff. I too am looking forward to them uploading that second video to youtube.
Barley House actually created a thread saying that every tv will be on the game and audio cranked. I was planning on heading to the Tap House, but looks like Barley is going to go all out for the Zips. Now I have a decision to make.
Edit: Barley House Thread
New song for the Rowdies:
"We love you x 3
And where you go we'll follow, we'll follow, we'll follow
Unless it is to Cali, to Cali, to Cali,
Cuz it's to dang expensive, expensive, expensive,
OOAAHHH, OOOAAHHH! A One more time!"
Rowdies will most likely be at the Tap House given their sponsorship. Friday will be my first time heading out there, so no insight on which is better.
No one has mentioned this, so I assume no news is good news. However, is Nanchoff physically 100%? I believe that in OT he went down and appeared to have pulled something. He ended up coming out for PKs, but I was wondering if he would be fit to play on Friday. I truly believe that his absence last year at the College Cup cost us a national championship. He's a pivotal part of our attack.
Describe "playing"?.?.?............
I'd like to be more clear about this. If Z.I.P., or any other Vuvuzela lover out there, can play "I'm a Yankee Doodle Dandy" better than a high school trumpet player, then taking one to a game is OK. If Vuvuzela player takes said Vuvuzela to a game to be an annoying a-hole like the tens of thousands of people who went to South Africa last year, then the Vuvuzela should stay home.
Owning a Vuvuzela is like owning a gun. Just because you own one doesn't mean you should take it out and use it in large groups.
I curse the day the plastic injection molding company who mass produced the Vuvuzela formed their first "instrument".
I thought that us Rowdies used the vuvuzela properly this season. We only really broke them out on corners or free kicks so that the defenders had trouble communicating about which Zips player they were marking. Other than that, the vuvuzelas remained fairly silent.
As a poor college student I can't financially afford to drop the $$ on a trip to Santa Barbara, but for those who are still looking for airline deals, Hotwire.com has flights from Columbus to LA for $300 if you fly out Friday and come back Monday.
I find it slightly ridiculous that in a sport which is dominated by Midwest and specifically East coast teams, the NCAA decides to hold the Cup in Cali. None of the four teams remaining are anywhere near within driving range.
Of course that is a little skewed by the 7-1 win over Michigan which I'm betting is what you intended.
I don't know if I would call that skewed. We've only played two of the remaining teams. To have a 10-1 aggregate score against UM and UNC is pretty dang impressive.
I was thinking the same exact thing the whole game. That debate got old over on the other thread and was hijacked, but boy was Detroit's crowd horrible. Maybe everyone was staying home so they didn't miss the tip of the MSU- Duke game. lol
On another non-game related note, the video stream was outstanding even though the announcer was terrible. I wish the MAC could have something similar.
