  1. Unofficial, but I heard the band will be wearing these.
  2. Yes, I get a little lump in my throat when they honor the Seniors. I hope these 3 get the loudest cheer of the season tomorrow night.
  3. Every year it seems like some MAC school needs to boost football attendance (at least on paper) to meet the minimum level for the NCAA D-1A requirement. I dare say 879 is not attendance number that should meet any criteria for competing at the top level of college basketball. Just sayin.
  4. Sorry for starting new thread...just saw JZ84 shared some of the same thoughts in another.
  5. Pretty nice turnout for the pizza party/Q&A with Coach Bowden tonight. Terry spoke for about 25 minutes and took questions from those in attendance. Some of the highlights: This year's recruiting class will end up being 22 players once the greyshirts, transfers, jucos & walk-ons are all counted. Mentioned the Tallmadge QB as a walk-on (commented on his superior arm strength) & also mentioned a walk-on from St. V (no name mentioned). When asked whether the no-huddle scheme would return on offense, Coach said they will not waffle on that. They are committed to running the system that evolved out of Texas Tech. He mentioned that the Zips need to emulate Oklahoma State, West Virginia, Baylor, Texas A&M, & Louisiana Tech. Pass first, but run the ball much more effectively. He said he would like to see the Zips run for 200 yards/game. Mentioned KP16 runs a 4.6 40 & needs to be able to make quick decisions to run for first downs when the space is there. Reiterated his pleasure that the entire staff came back even though some coaches were offered jobs at other schools. He said that Dalton Williams is going to be helping coach as well. He was asked his philosophy on inside/outside receivers: Said that the offense really needs tall guys outside with speed and that Traylor Bennett & Wolff fit that prototype he is looking for. He said on the inside he wants either bigger sturdy guys like D'Orazio or squirts like Tyler Williams. He said that L.T. Smith is moving inside. Reading between the lines I would say the freshmen are going to get their shot at playing outside. KP16 is the QB heir apparent, but it isn't like he is a multiple year returning starter and as always, there will be competition for that position. They are going to have a ladies-only "Football 101" seminar in June or July. I am sure I missed a couple of things, but those are some of the high points.
  6. This is still the best Zips team ever. We need to come out and show our support against Miami and get the JAR insanely rocking for Can't. I don't know about the rest of you but I am still planning on having an awesome time at the Q. These players took us all on one Hell of a fun ride and it was fun while it lasted. Now they just regroup and prove that the streak was no fluke. They need our support more than ever now.
  7. 1. Football doesn't even belong in this thread. Only reason is to take a cheap shot. 2. Ianello is gone. Not a valid reason for taking cheap shot anymore. 3. Program is doing about as well as could be expected. Zips were much improved last year and definitely not "hard to watch". They were actually quite entertaining offensively. I should have just let it go, but my blood pressure is already elevated and reading some negativity toward fb made it worse. Get over myself? OK. Whatever you say. I am definitely a football-first kinda guy, but I have been totally wrapped up in this basketball team. I may be just a little sensitive to the typical board negativity right now.
  8. Very disappointing loss, for sure. But hey, Zips fans...never miss an opportunity to take a potshot at the football team. A lot of you jokers are Zips fans in name only.
  9. Someday, I hope someone, somewhere can say the same about visiting Infocision. Until then, the few, the proud, the Lot 9ers™ will continue to do their part.
  10. The Zips play 10 weeks in a row, bye week, UMass, bye week, Toledo. Not doing us any favors there. I figured it was about time for a home game on Black Friday, but other than that, it looks good. 5 Saturday home games? I'll take it. Who's in for Lot 9 this year?
  11. Me too. Buckeye fan friends have been posting this cover on facebook and I have been commenting with "I see Zippy in the upper right hand corner." No responses as of yet.
  12. I have an idea for a poll question: At your place of employment, how tired are your co-workers of the following phrase? "Fear the Roo in Akron,Ohio - Home of the Zips!!" I think the majority of the people at my employer would respond with PRETTY DAMN TIRED. Bad news for them is if the Zips win tonight, the cheerleading outbursts from Keener are only going to get more frequent and boisterous. FEAR THE ROOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
  13. @JZ84, I am glad to see I am not the only one who was tickled by that statement.
  14. I bet you hate beer, steak & titties.
  15. +1. I am glad people found pride the soccer NC, but it didn't really do anything for me since I'm just not a fan of the sport. FWIW, none of my (non Zip fan) sports friends looked me up to offer congrats for the NC, but many sent kudos my way for cracking the top 25. No disrespect intended for our soccer fans, but this basketball run means more in almost any way you can measure it.
  16. Oh, happy day! I have never been prouder to be a Zip. MBB needs to borrow the women's slogan for a minute, FINISH!!!
  17. Yes they are! The Attack U narrator referred to the Zips as the Bobcats' arch-rival at the end of the last episode.
  18. Just in case... The call is free.
  19. +1. I usually find a couple of goodies there every trip. Large selection for a small store. It is one of my go to spots along with Brunswick Buehler's, Gary's Liquor in Wooster & Wayne's Country Market in Mansfield when I need a suds fix. Now, if I didn't live so far away from Red, Wine & Brew...
  20. EMU beat Purdue, so even stone cold locks can backfire on you.
  21. Zipgrad01 is a beer man, no doubt about it.
  22. I waved at Tressel at the last basketball game. He waved back, but that is to be expected because he is known for being very friendly.
  23. I had a chance to do a blind taste test of Lagunitas Sucks vs. Bell's Hopslam. I thought the beers were very similar, but chose Hopslam in a close contest. You gotta love Sucks, though. Only costs about half as much. On my last trip to PLBC, I picked up a couple of goodies... I am glad I picked up the Behemoth,as it was big and bold like all the other 3 Floyds offerings, but it was a little boozy for me. Barleywine is a style I have very little experience with, although I think the style name might have more to do with alcohol content than flavor. Not worth the $18 price tag. (For me) Nugget Nectar is so solid. So good. It is almost all gone, so get some if you see it. If not, you will have to wait until next February. Then, I got the best surprise... Some friends of mine went to Wisconsin and brought me back Dirty Old Man. What a treat. Porters and stouts have become my favorite styles and this one is KILLER. Tyranena isn't distributed in Ohio yet, but if you get to anyplace where it is available, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND! There is nothing else I have tasted that compares to it. It is incredibly unique. EXQUISITE!
