  1. Yep. Weather looks good. I encourage everyone to come out to the game early and tailgate. Lot 9 chili cookoff will be on, so come have some good food and drink. I am bringing a large pot of chili, a cooler full of beer, and get this...THREE GUESTS!!! Totally unbelievable! I was planning on traveling solo again. This has got to be a good omen. The Zips are going to get the wagon wheel back.
  2. Wow does that feel good!
  3. Get that weak stuff outta here! (apologies to A.C.)
  4. I like Zeke's body language. He looks confident.
  5. He did throw that one down with some authority. I am starting to understand why those who were watching practices were giving such positive reports.
  6. Diggs looks awesome.
  7. I am bringing more flavors than I can drink myself this week. Volunteers welcomed.
  8. Good stuff, Doctor.
  9. I am in the same boat as you, Lee. Hard to come up with any reasons to expect a victory. They need to pick it up in every aspect of the game if the Zips have a shot. I would like to see a replay of the 2009 game. Akron had only one win (against I-AA) going into that game and came up big. Unfortunately, Brookhart doesn't coach here anymore and Martin doesn't coach there anymore. Two strikes against the Zips.
  10. Until very recently, if you would have said Norwayne and Hillsdale would be ANYWHERE in the mix to decide the WCAL, you would have been laughed at. Things finally came around for Hillsdale, but I gotta tell ya, that QB for Norwayne is a man among boys.
  11. No, no, no, no, no, no. I don't think Tress is a "Can't State Guy". And I am aware that the HC over there in Portage County was an assistant under Tress and came to Can't with his endorsement. No shit. His being on Can't's sideline certainly shows that JT is in no way shape or form an "Akron Guy". So let go of the pipe dream. I only wish he had waited one week to show his support for his former WR coach. Perhaps then this inane conversation would be over. Probably not, though.
  12. Tressel was on the Can't sideline Friday night. Say no more.
  13. Zach, you have just described your personna on this board to perfection. Everytime I make a post on ZN.O, I use spell check. The spell check always wants me to change your name to Schlep. How appropriate. Why don't you find a new windmill to flail at.
  14. I sing the fight song the exact same way! And props to you for being honest You know, it's weird but I never really even paid much attention to the alma mater. I guess I always thought it was "Borrrrrrr-ing". Just the opposite for the fight song. I like to stand, clap and sing along with that one. Same with "Win for Akron". I have always loved marching bands ever since I was a kid.
  15. I do not know the words to the alma mater. It never struck a chord with me. But I am old school enough to sing Akron U and Zippers in the fight song because that is how I learned it and I'm not changing.
  16. I didn't watch the game last night because I can only watch Can't once a year, but yeah, I think we're in trouble. Both teams began the season rated pathetic but Can't has improved to awful. It hurt to say that.
  17. ...and bandzip sends pack_the_mac packing!
  18. I wouldn't hold my breath. Unless someone in the marketing department suddenly and unexpectedly got a clue, I would expect the apparel offerings to continue to blow. Just my opinion. Check with Akron Felt & Chenille and see if they can make you one. They did a good job on the football jerseys.
  19. A lot of what Rizzo said could be edited with Zips references dubbed and it would be on the mark.@SpinI went to quite a few Hillsdale games this year and you probably know the Falcons lost the last game against Norwayne to finish 9-1 and miss the playoffs. I didn't know you were a Chipp. At least you've got Erika's going for you. (One of my favorite places.)
  20. Ding, ding, ding! Correct answer!
  21. Even getting drunk is a process around here...Yeah, but my process has been proven to work.
  22. Can you ever envision the Zips eating more than 1 year of a HC contract? If they could make a great hire...a real head-turner...they would easily make up the $350k/yr in Ianello's salary. But no one typically looks deeper than "We're going to pay a guy $350k/yr NOT to coach the Zips? Forget it."The empty stadium and horrific team performance is dragging down the entire University. And I have no faith that Wistercil knows how to fix it. None whatsoever.Does anybody think this guy has a snowball's chance in Hell of turning this program around? Better yet, specifically, does TW have any confidence left in this guy? If the answer is no...if lead pipe cinch confidence in the process is not there you gotta eat his contract and make a change now. You have the cost of the contract on the one hand and the costs of keeping him on the other, like the lost revenue from the empty seats, the alienation of the fanbase and perhaps the biggest cost of all...If you allow this guy to continue down this road of incompetence, implementing his process and his inept offense, you totally hamstring the next coach, who most certainly will not run the pro set, with a roster loaded with fullbacks and tight ends whose positions will be obsolete. We can't afford to keep betting on a losing hand. Now, attracting that head turner coach that you talk about would be extremely difficult not only because the same AD who hired this guy would be making the decision again, but also because what up-and-comer would want the job? This is a mess of epic proportions.
  23. Keep hanging on to that pipe dream, Zach.
  24. I would like to nominate myself for starting the dumbest thread of the year. How naive to think this team would start winning down the stretch and yes, some of the players finally laid down and quit last night. I guess the brilliant decision to go for two and the win, which was supposedly popular with the team, didn't translate into anything positive going forward. Blowing an opportunity to beat a terrible team at home by making a stupid "ballsy" gamble...where have Ianello's balls been for the rest of the season? He could have utilized these fabled balls last night with the play calling to start the game. The defense gifts two 3 & outs to start the game and we are calling the same old run off tackle on 1st and 2nd downs, incomplete pass punt bullshit. Who is calling the plays? Ianello or Latina? Whichever needs fired today. I can't take it any more. The biggest game of the year is a week from Saturday and we have absolutely no momentum whatsoever heading into the game. Flatter than a pancake. We have a running back that appeared to intentionally run out of bounds 2 yards before the stick last night. That told me, right there, that this season is over. I think there is a real possibility that we get embarrassed by a pathetically bad Can't team on Senior Day. My well of optimism ran dry last night and I am extremely pissed off and embarrassed.
  25. That is as creative as we can be on 3rd and 4th down? Pathetic. You have got to be shittin' me! Send out the punt team, call time out, send the offense back out to run the same play that failed on 3rd down?
