Actually Cap'n, some of the best baseball quotes come from politics! Can you believe, she wasn't talking about his son? Wow. Ann Richards. One of the original Lee sisters. This seems to tell another story about the quote.

I think the offense we run has the potential to create some of the favorable matchups in space that we all want to see. The Weis offense is a complex multiple formation pro offense. They could come out and go spread from the get go if the coaching staff so desired. They should have the ability to be competent in a lot of different looks. When I watch the other teams that run this offense, they dont look much like the Zips version. Not to bad mouth Latina, but what does he know about running this offense? Seriously. I am starting to wonder.
-
You are absolutely right. There are many spread offenses that emphasize the run and if you establish the run in the spread, play action still works. That became the problem with JD's offense. The running game was an afterthought. Some of you guys have to remember the spread the Lions used to run. I think it was called the RUN and shoot.

okay I never knew Hoppin Frog was brewed in Akron. So where can I try all these? I like Porters and Stouts as well but give me a good IPA and I'm happy. Why don't you come down and introduce yourself Saturday and drink a couple beers with everybody? The more the merrier.

It's about time to revisit this thread.AJ Price has been a non factor. StatsWe burned Tyler Williams redshirt for this level of integration into the game plan.John Griggs and Oren Wilson have got the Big 10 pedigree to come in and make a difference. They haven't.The Lone Ranger hasn't exactly ridden into town and saved the day.CK most anticipated the performance of RI. I am afraid the critics panned that performance.GP1, Brett Biggs 2.0 is a.w.o.l.Nick Rossi looks like he may develop into a good player. We need to utilize him a little better.Which leaves us with Jawon Chisholm, the only guy mentioned that has put a smile on a Zips fan's face. Here's to you, Chisel. I am dedicating my Homecoming tailgate to you and your performance thus far.

There were a couple of other surprises yesterday for me. I didn't think Toledo would spank Temple (in Philly) that bad. Also, CMU strapped one on and beat NIU which was surprising. Miami is in the dumper and Can't played Ohio tough. When will the Zips rise up and surprise somebody?

@AK RAUDI: I have never acquired a real flavor for IPA's as a whole. There are some that I have tried that I have enjoyed, but I like the darker more balanced varieties. Personally, I like the Indian Brown Ales I have tried better than IPA, but I like darker as a general rule. But there's still time and I will continue to try different IPA's. I had a good one in a sampler pack this summer, Abita Jockamo IPA. @Bobby: I haven't tried any Hoppin' Frog brews yet. But I don't know about that BBW. Isn't that what they call the plus size ladies? Since Dr. Z turned me on to that dopplebock at last week's tailgate, I have been a little curious about the style. My limited experience with American bock never impressed me a whole lot, so I don't think I had ever tried a double. So I picked up Spaten Optimator and Paulaner Salvator. Good stuff, but they both pack a wallop with high ABV. I like the Spaten better. Both brewed in Munich, so you know it's got to be good, right?

Ok, I'll bite. What are you drinking now?
-
I agree with you, but I like lots of porters and never really took a liking to stouts.

Akron trails 13-14 in the poll.

This guy doesn't have much confidence. Link

Green & Growing over the Green & White 28-21. Special teams must improve this week. Will the Chisel run for 150?
-
I don't know if this is the right spot to post this, but as I was watching the Pitt/USF game, as they scanned the crowd after Pitt sacked BJ Daniels I spotted a rogue Akron fan.

If you are a fan of the movie, you need to read "The Real Animal House" by Chris Miller, if you haven't already. It will make you laugh a lot.

I was waiting for someone to try the Guinness Black Lager and give a report but no one did, so I will be the guinea pig. I was hoping to find it in a single display but no dice, so I bought a six pack. It's ok. Nothing special at all, reminds me a little bit of a St. Pauli Dark or a Beck's Dark. Probably a little smoother than either of those. Definitely not as good as some other dark lagers. I would choose a dunkel from Hofbrau or Warsteiner over this one every time, but not bad. I wish I could describe beer like a true connoisseur would but hopefully my crude description gives you an idea.

Good read, GP1. Thanks for posting. Many interesting numbers to digest.

Ok guys, ok. OSU is a rival in soccer. You are 100% right. I was 100% wrong for not clarifying that I was talking about football. But they still are not a rival in football, in my opinion, no matter how you slice it. If OSU and Akron are rivals in football, wouldn't that also mean that OSU and Can't would be rivals as well? Does anyone think OSU/Can't State is a rivalry game?
-
Actually, that is probably true! But if the soccer players, coaches and fans on both sides see it as a rivalry, it probably is. Do the fans of other soccer programs recognize it as a rivalry?
-
I can't speak to whether or not tOSU is a soccer rival or not. I don't know how either fanbase feels and it takes two to make a rivalry. Totally irrelevant to this conversation anyway. This is a football discussion. I can't competently comment about anything connected to soccer. I think you probably realized I wasn't talking soccer, though. According to the definitions you provided, every opponent is a rival and we all know that is not true. Some teams don't have a rivalry at all. Most have one. And some have more than one. You all know what I am talking about. Does anyone consider Illinois and Northern Illinois rivals? How about Michigan and Eastern Michigan? Is Alabama/UAB a rivalry game? Of course not. My God.
-
Did you REALLY write that comment? That looks like something out of the Suckeyes own message board! The kid who has his lunch money stolen by the neighborhood bully never considers the bully his rival. When he does, he might stop getting robbed! Wow. You didn't take my comment too far out of context did you? I have no problem with anyone bashing whoever they want. My comment was simply counterpoint to the criticism of Flashbashing. However, the Buckeyes are definitely NOT our rival. Hate them as much as you want. Root against them as much as you want. But it's not a rivalry.
-
The more I hear "The Chisel", the more I like it. The Chisel f'shizzle. I hope he keeps his momentum building by carving up the Hurons defense on Saturday. All things considered, 2-3 would look pretty nice coming into homecoming.
-
What is weird to me is that bashing our rival can be scrutinized by a fellow Zips fan. It has been free reign on Buckeye bashing all summer long. They are a superior program and aren't our rival. I don't know when the last time Can't "cleaned our clock". It sure as hell wasn't last year. We had every opportunity to win and failed to capitalize. Not that it matters anyway. Can't bashing is a matter of principal. They call us Crackron. Incessantly. They act as if they are Ivy League and we are a community college. I will never apologize for bashing them nor should I. When I die, they can hire a George Jones impersonator to sing at my funeral... "He stopped bashing Can't today/They placed a wreath upon his door/And soon they'll carry him away/He stopped bashing Can't today." Seriously, though. We should be happy to have a hate rivalry. It's beneficial in good times and bad and there are a lot of schools that don't have one that would love to. Don't believe me? Just ask a Buffalo fan.

I read that story and then

Spencer Keith's play has been horrendous. If the Zips don't beat Can't this year my head may explode.
