  1. I went back and looked at the 2013 Ashland Eagles season. It has been mentioned that Tra'Von was not impressive there and I wanted to look closer. Ashland started out 1-3 when they made the change and inserted Chapman into the starting lineup. From there they finished out 4-2 to even their record at 5-5. Hard to compare numbers because of the small sample size and because Ashland ran the legs off Anthony Taylor who averaged 28 carries a game. (By contrast Jawon Chisholm averaged a little over 10 carries a game in the 11 games he played in 2014) Chapman finished 2013 going 90 for 173; 1154 yards; 9 TDs; 3 INTs. The most attempts taken as the starter was 31. The least? 13. Compare that with Pohl last year: Fewest attempts: 29 @ Pitt & Buffalo. Most? 62 vs. BG. Chapman surely did not set the world on fire at Ashland in 2013 that's for sure but I am not sure how much the Eagles offense would set up any QB to put up gaudy numbers. Tra'Von also did not have the benefit of a lot experience with the Ashland scheme since he didn't start practicing with the team until September 11. Not sure my inquiry turned up any information to give us much more of a clue as to what we are getting with Mr. Chapman. 2. Question asked to season ticket holders: "When was the last time you attended a Zips basketball game at James A. Rhodes Arena?" Seriously?
  3. I think unless it's just truly offensive and way out of line everyone should be allowed to say just exactly what they want to say on this forum. (Of course, it's not my say.) I think CK & Dr. Z do a great job with letting us all be ourselves on here. Some boards have prissy squarebritches as moderators censoring every heartfelt opinion that might ruffle some feathers. Just my 2 cents.
  4. Dammit, Doctor. I guess when I go to a Zips game I want to see some #MACtion! Looking back on that season game by game, there is some truth to what you say. There were some moments that my head almost exploded. . . UMass, the fake FG @ Toledo & the 2nd halves of BG and Can't, but the FIU, Miami and Ohio games were good shootouts that the Zips just came up short on. They had back-to-back stinkers vs. Northern and Central that I tried to forget about but thanks to you I am reminded of.
  5. I bet we would have had some fun. Missed opportunity.
  6. Also. . . For what it's worth. . . I had more fun watching the 2012 Zips go 1-11 than I did watching the last 2 years of 5-7 ball.
  7. The defense in '12 couldn't stop air. The 1-11 record was not due to the offense. Certainly not because of DW13. If the '14 D magically coupled with the '12 O, the Zips go 10-2 last year because they would have beaten Ohio, Ball State, Blowing Green & Can't. All the offensive problems aren't just due to the qb, either. There are plenty of others that share in the offensive woes and need to step up their game.
  8. Bowden from the gozips.com Q & A: What are you looking for in a quarterback? To me, I want to see the quarterback position evolve a little bit better to a clear, vocal leader. Not one that has quiet leadership skills, but I think that needs to come out a little bit more for all of our quarterbacks. That's one key thing we're looking for. But I've had some awfully good quarterbacks—because poise and laid back and calmness and those things are part of the position— but I do believe there is an element of vocal leadership that we need to get out of that position as well.
  9. At first blush, I'd say this sounds like bad news but I am sure someone can explain why I'm wrong.
  10. Why even bother to write something? http://cfn.scout.com/2/1522638.html
  11. Dear coaching staff: Please come up with a plan to utilize Jerome Lane.
  12. Some of the opinions and predictions in that 2009 thread are priceless.
  13. You might want to turn the sound down if you are at work.
  14. Um, didn't Zach post this link like 10 days ago?
  15. Buffalo's dance team looks like they're fresh off the set of Jerseylicous.
  16. I am stuck at work but it sounded like French was about to wet his pants there at the end. Amazing.

  18. Are you related to akzipper?
  19. By the way. . . This board is seriously slipping. 2014-15 basketball season is drawing to a close and no Can't State haiku? For shame.
  20. Personally, I like City Tap.
  21. Ahh, it would be a labor of love no doubt, but I don't think me heart could handle hating Can't for an occupation. The highs are fantastic but the lows are deep. After emerging from my 2-month secluded depression that resulted from the 2014 Wagon Wheel game I couldn't even trim my own beard.
