  1. I think you are (somewhat) dazed and confused
  2. I think you need the tough ooc schedule...unlike Miami, you will get your wins in the MAC. I do give the Zips credit for the SC win.. that is a nice win---- but when that is your "win" its not enough. As far as scheduling, the truly good schools--- the ones that I think the Zips should seek out, rarely are down ( falling into 40-100 in RPI). So you can schedule those road games... your easier away games should be in showcases IMO
  3. Lets get real... the Zips have an awful schedule. They won 2 of those games?.. yes, and one was against what can be called a fairly pathetic USC team which has an RPI of 109... SC is a modest 61 in the RPI (which when you factor in conference champs and tourney champs, probably means they are a bubble NCAA team at best... They lost to PSU (50) and Miami (42). KD I am pretty sure is still paid on 20 wins, and he should again deliver... the schedule is loaded with bottom feeding teams, and no one that provides any help to a team seeking anything other than wins. I saw that the Zips are ranked 9th in the mid major poll .... what exactly is that?... it strikes me as a poll of the best JV teams. Looking at it, I see that the top 3 teams are in the top 25 in the "real" polls--- great, but throw in the others getting votes, and the teams that just dropped out of the real polls, and you are about at 50 teams, and have yet to sniff another from the mid major poll. So where does that put Akron who is at #9?... outside the NCAA tourney without a MAC tourney championship... and some awful scheduling doesn't help them- every yr. In my mind, the Zips need to go on the road and go on the road over and over, and play some schools that, A) help them if they can grab an upset, and maybe generate some recruiting interest because of the schedule they play. I am fairly certain, every basketball player worth his weight, would rather go on the road to play some real schools, then play Coppin St or Bluffton at home. ... The loss of home games is no big deal-- what 3000 paying spectators tops for the non MAC schedule? I am floored by the rose colored glasses and the people that think this program is close to a Butler or a Gonzaga... hey, maybe get to the NCAA most years and WIN a game... or 17....or don't get blitzed. You play in the MAC and you schedule relatively poorly, rarely playing big schools on their courts.. get your 20 wins...so you get MAC type players, miss the NCAA most years, and can't compete when you get there. There are 8 schools to win 21 games each of the last 9 years.. Duke, Florida, Gonzaga, Kansas, tOSU, Pitt, Syracuse ....AND Akron. Only one has never won an NCAA tourney game..... time to change it up... it doesn't work they way they are doing it at Akron.
  4. Big win last night. Looking at the remaining OOC schedule, I will be disappointed if they don't win them all--- certainly an uninspiring stretch of opponents. Lots of wins this yr!
  5. What would be the over under on Akron tickets sold for any bowl, that is not 3 hours from here? 500?
  6. The 6-11 guys with his agility have jobs and do not play basketball in the NBA
  7. Chauncey Gilliam had a bad day, today
  8. We blame teachers when kids can spell or add... when a coach allows his entire team to be one of the worst FT shooting teams in the country, it is his fault.
  9. Good thing Akron played one of the 12 programs in all of Division 1 that is worse than them at the line. It is hard to be as bad as Akron--- but Marshall is worse. Someone...maybe a coach or the Head Coach needs to be held responsible for having a team that will not be able to win at the line?...just sayin'
  10. Rebuild...... When did Akron ever rebuild?... I must have missed it the first time
  11. A ticket exchange isn't needed, there are plenty of tickets available. The problem is that there is no demand. This is a program that offers up free student tickets, and plays a fairly lackluster schedule. If they ever win in the NCAA tournament, or play an attractive schedule outside of the MAC at home, people will notice and pay to come..... they have never done either. I wish they would, but I have been waiting a long time.
  12. nevermind-- i deleted my own negative post-- you can all guess what it said
  13. I agree no big wins--and so few opportunities (poor scheduling). But I believe Dambrot gets paid for 20 wins, so I have to think he is looking at the sure money--- at least prior to his new contract. That's is or was a problem that has kept us from better schedules and a break through win in my opinion
  14. He looks good.... but maybe someone should tell him to buy a new sport coat (one that fits)
  15. The marketing dept should generate revenue... 3 games @$16 = $48... minus the cost of the bobblehead ($4).
  16. 1500? why?... the cost to make 4000 couldn't be much more. I would have run 4000.. 1500 at the game and the next 2500 to anyone that buys tickets to 3 remaining games while supplies last
  17. Brutal jersey-- bad color (black), on a jersey in some other school's colors. Great marketing ideas put more than an avg of 3,000 fans in the seats. not a hashtag on a jersey
  18. They started 4 guards because they only had 3 forwards in total... 6-6, 6-7, and 6-9... That team had no chance, they are not 1-12 by mistake. Its time for Akron to go on the road and play some real teams. It cant be that they dont want to give up the home gate (2,500). Its hard to be the worst team in Division 1 mens hoops, but Akron has seen 2 that are pretty close (Ak-PB 343/347, TX-S 283/347)
  19. Texas Southern had 9 players.... 6 guards and 3 forwards... their biggest starter was 6-6.
  20. Brent Pease-- Boise
  21. MTSU was the best game and atmosphere.....then the CSU game.... then you probably get into some HS games
