I'd like to know when KD interviewed for the South Florida job?... and when did he get and what was the offer. I certainly believe he was a candidate, but the timing of an offer and to be told he rejected it-- less than 24 hrs from losing the MAC championship seems tight... or slightly exaggerated. If the DU offer of 7/7 is there, I expect he leaves.

Why would Akron add money to his contract?... I would guess the program would be better off financially to have him grab bigger $ elsewhere, and his assistants, lose all their games, and draw 1,000 fans per game. College sports are a business-- and at Akron they are all bad businesses....very bad businesses. I cant believe that a total spending freeze, or significant cuts within the athletic dept hasn't taken place...maybe it's coming?

Most people (fans, politicians, radio hosts, athletic directors etc) don't get this. UA is in deep, if they were a household, things would have been cut to the bone long ago. Instead, they just paid a bonus to their head coach for a NIT bid... and one for a MAC reg season championship---- which guarantees at least a NIT bid!

The UA Athletic Dept is a train wreck financially --which is not news. As far as the COA, the baseball programs total budget was essentially swapped this past year for the COA dollars given to athletes at UA. Each school has some wiggle room in determining the amount, but I recall the amount being the same.

This loss doesn't bother me. For me, an embarrassing blowout loss in the NIT is not a big deal-- nor would a run of wins in the NIT be. I felt the season was a disappointment a couple of weeks ago - by not getting to the NCAA tourny and WINNING a game. The expectation level of the program needs to be raised-- is the goal at the start of the season to win the MAC regular season and that's it? because that is all that was accomplished this year.

IMO With more "one and dones", that means more top players will move thru top programs because spots open up. When the top players stayed longer, other good players were pushed to lesser conferences.

I'm getting confused on the USF thing..... did KD interview for the job?.. when?.. or did they make an offer with no interview? Do colleges need to ask for permission to interview coaches that are employed?

Sorry to hear this news... my thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.

Would this be a good time for the Athletic Dept. to only sell advance purchase lower bowl tickets in season ticket packages?
