OhioU is going to start hitting 3's and half court shots eventually. I'd rather see them hot in the 1st and cold in the 2nd. Not the other way around.

I agree with most of what you suggested. I do think it might be a good idea to use bleachers for the student section(s). The way I see it, maybe this will force more of them to remain standing for the game? allow for a more "packed" section and even save us some money only having to fill 3/4 of the arena with chair-backs. A larger two-tiered arena is key. Even if the capacity is below 10,000 having multiple tiers allows for louder crowds and more big-time feel. Just ran into New Seattle arena renderings. Obviously way too expensive, but thought the layout was very cool. Having the suites/club seats to close to the court is genius. Reminds me a bit of Pitt's arena. So many arenas being built today look exactly alike. It's refreshing to see some innovation.

Even though I think OhioU is a lock for the championship, their matchup with EMU/WMU is going to be a joke. Funny how the #1 seed has a tougher road to the championship. The "sports gods" really do hate NE Ohio.

Exactly. It might as well be called the Michigan-Ohio Conference. Way too regional it feels almost like a high school or FCS conference. We'd benefit from better competition and national exposure.

The team flew to Buffalo, so I don't see travel as a problem for them. No one can sit here an honestly say that the teams in the new America12 wouldn't be better competition than the awful MAC schools we are stuck playing. Unfortunately Tulsa will be named the final member and we missed the boat. Meaning we will never get out of the MAC. Even in arguably the best Zips season in history we still have to worry about an at-large bid.

Too much housing for students NEAR CAMPUS? Sorry but having 60 year olds living along exchange wouldn't be good for anyone. If anything there needs to be much more housing around campus. Way too many students live in awful houses south of exchange.

Honestly I've been undecided on where I'd prefer the Arena. Now with all the Exchange developments, I think it has to happen there.

I didn't experience the 1986 season so can't really compare, but I think all of your points about this season are valid. Everyone knows that making the NCAA tournament is the ultimate goal. Aside from giving us a meaningless NIT bid, the regular season title has become an afterthought. Is it a great accomplishment? Yes, but fans have bigger goals for this team. On a side note don't all schools cut dow the nets for regular season championships? Don't get OhioU fans trashing Akron for doing it. Not like we stormed the court or anything.

Regular season championship doesn't get us into the NCAA tournament! This is the point I am trying to get across. While it's good to celebrate we have to have higher goals.

True. Both would be tough with probably Can't being the more preferred match-up. Frustrating how things always fall right into OhioU's lap like having to play WMU.

The difference is Michigan is making the tournament regardless. Losing to Buffalo ended our slim hopes of an at-large and knocked us out of the rankings. It was a must-win game for us and we blew it. For a mid-major EVERY game is a must-win. Obviously we won't win them all, but we have to beat the teams we're supposed to beat. Gonzaga and OhioU do that. OhioU is basically already guaranteed a place in the MAC championship. I'm not going to try to put a positive spin on a loss that really hurt us.

So we will face Buffalo or Can't, while Ohio has to play WMU? Talk about a cakewalk for them...

Two point WIN. Something the Zips failed to do. I said they wouldn't lose to UB and they didn't.

Exactly. Even after a loss the team can't get fired up. I'm not going to act impressed with a 3 point lead over any MAC team at halftime.

I'll just point out the obvious. Gonzaga would NEVER lose to Buffalo. Even OhioU won't lose to Buffalo tonight. Playing to the level of our lower competition will never let us ascend to the next level. Play tough against good teams and blow out the cupcakes.

Since they are obsessed with playing from behind all season, I don't see a big win happening anytime soon. Just don't lose tonight and I'm happy.

So we can estimate than 2 or 3 people got free tickets?

I believe ZipsMBB tweeted "not that many" tickets are left. But that could mean anything.
