  1. The Browns have yet to do anything since coming back to the NFL in 1999. If they moved to the Arena league maybe we can bring a championship to Cleveland! YES!
  2. Exactly. You know I was frustrated after the soccer team lost in the tournament this year. Why not move them down to division 2? We'd have a better change of winning a national championship next year. Same with basketball! We weren't able to win the MAC last year, do you think we can move OAC would be an easier conference to win? I know it's division 3, but people in Akron would really support some good local competition! and a plus we wouldn't need to build a new arena, just play games at the Rec. Take the easy way out in life right? Use a hypothetical real world analogy....What is better going to Harvard or going to Can't State? Now think about it. Harvard is one of the best schools in the world, and it's very difficult to move up to the top of the class. But at Can't it would be much easier to be at the top.
  3. Just that this keeps coming up is embarrassing. It's easy to break it down this way: If you are supporting FCS you have completely given up on the program. You don't ever want them to succeed and will be one of a few dozen fans left on saturdays watching the Zips play glorified high schools. If you support FBS you actually have hope for the future and are loyal fans. We are a big school, with amazing facilities there is no reason to give up! Just remember this is online, for anyone to see. Do you really want Can't and OhioU fans who stalk Zipsnation to see this? Do you realize how embarrassing it is that some fans have given up on the program entirely.
  4. Funny thing is the Indians went through all that trouble, yet Swisher will just use his Tribe offer as leverage to get more money from a team that wants to win. I honestly don't care if Tressel was there or not. I'll admit I'm still kind of uncertain as to what he's done for UA so far. But if he takes one day off to go have lunch with a guy, I really couldn't care less. It's not like UA paid for it? Do we expect him to spend 24/7 at his office in Buchtel? I know for certain none of us spend that much time at work. So can't really criticize someone else...
  5. Exactly. I have been loyal to the Zips ever since I enrolled there. Watched them build beautiful facilities and have very bad seasons. I haven't given up yet, but if we drop down to FCS I will no longer be a Zips football fan. It's just that simple. What is the purpose of rooting for a FCS team? even an undefeated season with a championship means nothing. I would rather average 1 win a season in FBS, because at least we would have a chance someday... People complain because I'm too negative, but I've never once suggested the Zips move down to a pointless division of college football. If you want to watch pointless football, go watch Mount Union or YSU.
  6. I agree. We have the pieces in place to be the best in the MAC, but the product on the field has been terrible. Not many schools in FBS have the facilites we do in Akron, but I can't say that I'm "sold" on the coaching staff yet. That doesn't mean I'm giving up, but I can't say that watching the team last year proved anything. In all reality I'd rather be at the bottom of FBS than the top of FCS. At least in FBS Akron has a chance to do something. Even if it's very unlikely, it is possible. What's the best thing a FCS team can do? have one upset over an FBS team that really means nothing. Looking back I couldn't even tell you who won the FCS championship last year and I really don't care. We think Joe Akron is bored when MAC schools come to town, what happens if YSU, Western Carolina, and James Madison are playing at Info every week.
  7. I remember when I predicted the Zips would be very close to .500 team heading into MAC play. I was then attacked because I "haven't even watched a practice" Well we sit at 4-4 with 5? OOC games left? Still very likely
  8. Yeah getting a full ride to college, special privileges, and any girl they want. Wow what a tough life. So people like me, spend four years in college eating ramen and Rob's cafe food. Lived in dorms that lack heat and hot water (Gallucci Hall). Cannot afford to buy a car, cannot work because of unpaid internships and now left with a ton of student loans. Yeah I don't feel bad for them....sorry.
  9. The purpose of school is to get an education. Athletics is secondary. If they don't want to take classes like the rest of us, then don't go to school. They can go to the arena leagues and play for money if they want. Do they want scholarships or do they want to get paid? It can't be both.
  10. I've always said, pay them $20,000 a year and take away all their scholarships and "special privileges." As someone who has student loans, I have no sympathy for the "student athletes."
  11. Nothing better than watching Toledo get destroyed right now! Not very likely, but I wish for the same outcome for OhioU and Can't.
  12. Not when they play this bad. It's embarassing
  13. Well the Zips gave up on this game before it even started. I've never seen a team so uninterested in playing.
  14. Another loss to another terrible team. Just stupid turnovers and fouls by this team.
  15. down 1? this is the most overrated Akron team of all-time
  16. Better than MAC, C-USA, Mountain West and Sunbelt.
  17. For some reason a lot of Zips have a very "high school" mentality when it comes to college athletics. The small stadiums/areas of the MAC, schools located VERY close to one another, and a regional conference that really is only centered in two states. Do we really need 6 schools in Ohio? I would definitely support some sort of BE-MAC merger. Maybe North and South divisions? Akron, Cincinnati, Buffalo, Temple, Ohio, NIU, UMass, Toledo, USF, UCF, Houston, Memphis, SMU, Tulane, and ECU would make a very solid conference and cover a lot of the eastern US.
  18. Didn't the Big Ten add Maryland and Rutgers just because of Rifle and Soccer?
  19. Exactly. At least the schools in the Big East carry some weight, and are located in big markets than can get us exposure. I doubt that many casual fans actually look forward to the Zips playing their conference games.
  20. Who can honestly say they'd rather be playing Eastern Michigan, Buffalo, and Bowling Green on a weekly basis instead of teams like Cincy, UCF, and Houston.
  21. OhioU lost to Robert Morris. I don't get it.
  22. Zips will never win the "big" games
  23. Yes, this game is over. Much like the football team the outcome can be decided before halftime.
  24. I like that they have a huge basketball painted at center court...I guess in case you forget which sport you are watching?
