"What could have been" the all to familiar motto of Northeast Ohio sports. But honestly I think that even if we were undefeated and had upset NCState, I'm not sure we would have cracked the top-25. Not because we don't deserve it, but rather because we are a mid-major.

Can we get a petition started that removes Ohio State fans from the state of Ohio?

I haven't given up on Bowden. Basically all I was saying was that at this point I would be happy with him having a .525 winning percentage with the Zips. But really even 2 wins next year would be good.

Really Bowden has won 141 games at Akron so far? Damn that was quick, last time I checked he had 1. It's obviously not his fault, but those wins don't carry over to our record. That's not the way sports work. Like Terry Francona's WS titles don't automatically get transferred to the Indians now do they?

It's sad that other MAC schools are firing coaches with records like 51–47...and he had 4 wins this year, while we've only had 3 in the past 3 years....terrible. It's sad that I would love to have a coach with that record at Akron right now.

OhioU beat PSU this year too. Even if PSU was down at the time, they are still a Big10 team. Love how the PSU coach is using an injury as an excuse. If they lost by a few points I get it, but they got completely blown out of the gym. Akron could have gone up by 30 or 40 had we kept in the starting rotation. Is that PG going to score that many points? Doubtful since he only averaged 22 a game so far this year, and hadn't scored once while he was on the court yesterday. Sorry but with what we had to deal with Diggs, Tree, Harney, and Abreu. He get's no sympathy from me.

A win against PSU probably doesn't mean much for most people. But I grew up in PA, so watching my school completely destroy PSU is like watching Akron beat OSU. They may not have the strongest basketball program, but it is the Big10 and they are the biggest school in the state. Now, like most people have said the next few games will be a huge test. They Zips will make the trip home with alot of hype after a great finish to the tournament. In the past they always seem to find a way to lay an egg at home after big wins. Let's hope they can use this tournament as momentum and make this season different than the past.

Yes definitely played well for the 2nd half. Penn State can't use any excuses, sorry. I don't care if their PG was hurt, they lost by 25 points. We had to deal with 2 suspensions, Abreu's injury, and Diggs for the entire year. No sympathy from us...

Zips really have trouble carrying momentum from one game to another. But PSU has hit a lot of 3's so far. Another frustrating performance.

I think the only people more mad than the ND haters are Big10 fans. They've been in denial for the past decade and continually like to brag about how much better they are than the SEC. Even after the SEC has won so many championships in a row, they still won't admit how far superior they are. Looks like 2012 may be yet another SEC championship!

Playing all of these close games makes it easier for heartbreaking outcomes like the Ok State finish. People can blame Chancey all they want, but the way the team was throwing up bricks the score should have never been that close to begin with.

I'm always going to be an Akron fan. But no one should be okay with losing.

Only up by 3? this is getting ridiculous. I'm tired of hearing about "moral victories" and being positive after losses. At the end of the day no one cares if they should have won games or almost won games. No one should be okay with losing. Don't be surprised if they end up 1-3

Honestly it would be better if the MAC couldn't get into these games. I don't want to have to worry about Ohio or Can't making a run in the future. Obviously we will never be up there, so it's irrelevant to the Zips. Last time I checked you have to at least win against an FBS opponent to make it to a championship game.

Not to mention, we just lost to a weak D1 team last week, did we really want to start 0-2?

In all fairness, if so many people cared about soccer wouldn't you expect more than 2,460 for a MAC championship game? I respect what Porter and the Zips have done, bringing Akron a championship. But at the end of the day I would trade that championship for a winning football team. We just watched our basketball team crush any chance of decent crowds, rankings, and an at-large bid. Football secured it's 3rd 1-win season in a row. Fun weekend for Zips fans! Not sure what John Buchtel did to curse our school, but dang...the constant disappointments are so much fun!

Zips had a nice run going, then completely fell apart before the half. Lucky to still have the lead. Zips aren't getting any calls, missing easy shots inside the paint, and turning it over way too much.
