Honestly I don't think any of them would really be successful in NFL.

Even at it's weakest state the Big East will be better than the MAC. Maybe compared to the Big10 and SEC, it is a joke but not to the MAC. People can note that they have added SMU, Memphis, and Houston. So? what has the MAC done, add UMass and kept schools like Eastern Michigan and only really relevant in Ohio and Michigan. People talk about national exposure, yet bash a conference that takes up the eastern US. Trust me "Joe Akron" isn't getting excited about a Saturday matchup against Eastern Michigan and we are NEVER going to a conference like the ACC or Big10. So unless you're content staying the MAC forever, the BE is our ceiling. I suppose the best way to make everyone happy is take the best 16 or so teams from the Big East, CUSA, and MAC. Drop everyone else down to FCS and be done with it. I'm not just talking wins, but facilities, fanbases, and athletic depts as a whole. Cincy, UConn, Houston, Memphis, UCF, Akron, Ohio, ECU, Buffalo, SMU, Louisville, USF, Temple, etc.

Hope the Zips don't go 0-2 against Creighton...on to basketball

The drive-thru places and small convenience stores need to go. Places like this... I'm all for small businesses, but that area deserves more respectable tenants with nice buildings. Having so many residence halls being built, there's no question there will be a demand for stores and restaurants in that area. It's definitely not the commuter school it used to be. The only time they may hurt is when class in not in session. The University Park Alliance needs to use Knights Plaza at UCF as inspiration. I've never been there, but from pictures I've seen and what I've heard it's awesome. 20 different storefronts build in an area adjacent to their Arena.

I honestly would not be sad to see any of those buildings or stores along Exchange demolished, from route 8 to Mcdonalds. That entire south of the street has been a bit of an eyesore, and and honestly not very fun to walk down at night. Build new storefront/housing complexes all the way down the street and if the Subway, Taco Bell, Euro, FedEx Office, etc want to move in fine. If not let them go somewhere else...

Hopefully whichever they choose has the same format as this years. Not the fixed tournaments that never let the smaller schools make the championship. or...we can pull an OhioU and skip the tourneys altogether, play 7 cupcakes to start the season, and then brag about it.

To me the importance of the Miracle on Ice made it more significant. Olympics on the world stage against a world powerhouse outweighs some small tournament in Hawaii. Especially given the relationships between the USA and Soviets, support of the team at the time and since made it more of an American victory. Bigger than sports. I'll admit I never actually knew about the Chaminade upset until someone mentioned it here.

What does a 1-win football team really have to lose? Maybe the coaches told the unit if they read the defense and thought they could capitalize on a fake, do it. Maybe whoever decided to run the fake made the mistake? Maybe they saw something in the defense and was wrong? Who knows... I remember one of Mangini's Browns teams had a huge fake punt that went for 70+ yards against New Orleans. Mangini did not call the play at that time, Hodges was trained to run the fake if the coverage was lined up a certain way.

Miracle on Ice?

From what I've read Puerto Rico has a VERY high homicide rate. Something like 5x higher than the US, but not sure how it compares to other latin american countries/islands. I know it seems like I hear every day about baseball players being a victim of terrible crimes down there. Makes me a little hesitant to add them as a state. I'm sure the UA staff did a very good job making sure the team stayed safe down there.

Role call is spelled wrong? Should be "Roll" I believe Can't doesn't have any fans, so they will probably be able to make the trip in a short bus?

So many people these days think they know everything because they play Madden or sit in and watch a few Zips practices...

On paper our 1-10 team should not have had a shot with Toledo, or even Tennessee, Can't, Ohio for that fact.

There is very little talent on the team, and no depth on defense makes it a trainwreck waiting to happen. Unfortunately next years draft class would be disappointing FCS team, so I'm very doubtful they will be much better. Unless he is able to bring in a dozen transfers, we'll be lucky to get two wins... It's just not fair to blame the coaching staff. While there may be a few bad playcalls, it's bound to happen. I don't think even Nick Saban calls every game perfectly. The reality is that Bowden has coached up this team, and I guess the only positive is they didn't get blown out every game.

What did Buster Skrine do wrong on that play? Don't see Toledo's idiot coach throwing a temper tantrum now

Unfortunate to hear that PSU's PG will be out for the rest of the season. But like I've said, we would have won the game regardless...

"What could have been" the all to familiar motto of Northeast Ohio sports. But honestly I think that even if we were undefeated and had upset NCState, I'm not sure we would have cracked the top-25. Not because we don't deserve it, but rather because we are a mid-major.

I haven't given up on Bowden. Basically all I was saying was that at this point I would be happy with him having a .525 winning percentage with the Zips. But really even 2 wins next year would be good.

Really Bowden has won 141 games at Akron so far? Damn that was quick, last time I checked he had 1. It's obviously not his fault, but those wins don't carry over to our record. That's not the way sports work. Like Terry Francona's WS titles don't automatically get transferred to the Indians now do they?

It's sad that other MAC schools are firing coaches with records like 51–47...and he had 4 wins this year, while we've only had 3 in the past 3 years....terrible. It's sad that I would love to have a coach with that record at Akron right now.
