I think we can get a bit of nicer crowd than that. KD made some good points after the game that the student turnout has been much improved. Even going as far as saying that the atmosphere has been similar to the soccer games. Maybe that's the one positive of the soccer program being on the downswing, students need a team to gravitate towards and basketball is putting itself in that position.

Good point. I just think we need to keep things in perspective. Beating them today was nice, but this team can achieve much more... If UA can take anything else positive from this game it's that we have outgrown the JAR. Time to move on already!

Yes I will admit I was wrong. The beginning of the game was very frustrating but I'm glad the Zips proved me wrong. I will enjoy the win but we need to remember it was just one game. The season will come down to the MAC tournament. Winning now is fun, but the fans and team need to know that the games at the end of the season will matter MUCH more. Remember we beat OhioU last year in Akron and struggled in the next two matchups. I really hope there is not a repeat. Stay grounded Zips fans!

Seems like every game this season they start out sluggish. Then we find ourselves sitting here at halftime saying "well the Zips will need to make a run in the 2nd half". Honestly I'm tired of it. I don't know what it will take to get this team motivated to start a game, but it hasn't happened yet. They were lucky to come back against Can't, Buffalo, and the other dozen teams this year. How many times to they think they can go on 16-0 runs? It's not going to happen against OhioU even if we're more talented. OhioU 72 Akron 60...

Someone on twitter called him "a poor man's Ivo Baltic" which was strange because I had to do a google search to find out who "Ivo Baltic" was. I think it's fine for them to show ignorance on their own message board. But some of the stuff/actions I have seen by them on twitter are very disappointing and I will leave it at that...

I actually don't think Nike had anything to do with these uniforms. If I recall correctly, teams like Akron usually pick from a Nike or Adidas catalog which jersey "template" they want to use. The manufacturers just send the school uniforms in whichever colors they pick and a local seamstress adds on numbers and logos. Nike only really designs uniforms for the big schools willing to pay for it, OSU, Oregon, Syracuse, etc. This is the reason you'll see dozens of teams wearing the same type of jerseys like the Zips, just different colors. As for the NCAA I don't really care that they squashed the @ZipsMBB. I honestly think we are getting WAY more press just by being denied the request. It was a win-win attempt by UA. But for the rest of the season I hope we can be known for the play on the court!! I say since we're wearing the "Z" jerseys the Rowdies should steal the hand sign from Dude Where's My Car

I graduated a few years ago and remember getting emails about robberies (similar to the Ohio U situation) every couple of days. I guess in light of recent events it doesn't hurt to be too cautious. Hopefully no one was injured...

Well ebay may not be the best place to judge the value of something. A french fry sold on there for $200 lol I'd say the average cost of a bobblehead would be less than $5. Not to mention Coca-Cola and LBJ foundation helped pay for them. I'm sure if it were possible to get more than 3000 they would have...

Honestly I don't care what they think or have to say. I just don't see them as a rival. Thinking Bigger is a motto meant for more than the MAC. If we spend our time worrying about MAC schools we aren't setting high enough goals. I don't care what other MAC schools have done in the past Elite8, Sweet Sixteen, BCS, CWS all that matters right now is this season. Wednesday's game means just as much as Saturday's.

I think there's a difference between the Z and X. Xavier is the school name, where as Zips is only our nickname. That's why I think the A-Zippy logo has to always be prominent, with Z only used as a secondary mark. I do think a metallic gold Z would look awesome on the side of a blue football helmet...

Gonzaga has "Zags" but there official nickname is Bulldogs, so that's similar to Zona. I think they even had a black "Zags" jersey a few seasons back. I believe the Zips are the only team with an actual team/nickname beginning with Z. That's the one part of our history that I'm most proud of. With all the bulldogs, tigers, cardinals, bobcats, wildcats, bears, etc in sports, it's refreshing to have something original.

Say what you want but the MAC only has 4 teams with +.500 records right now, and a team that only scored 4 points in a half.

Anything is better than the MAC, I'd make the move in a heartbeat.

I will say that no win is a guarantee. Play this game like any other and don't overlook BG.

Big East today announced they want to add a 12th team. Probably another terrible school like Tulsa.

It's okay UA is going to build an arena of 3000. That should take care of all the problems.

Unfortunately almost all of the Rowdies chants are taken from other schools. My least favorite is easily "You can't do that", since I've heard it at about 99% of the college and lower level basketball games I've been to.

Speaking of the NCAA Iowa wanted to wear TRIBUTE jerseys for former player Chris Street, star forward who passed away in a car accident in 1993. The Hawkeyes planned to wear uniforms that all had "Street" as the last name. NCAA denied their request. Similar to our request, but I feel like it's pretty low to deny a team a request for a tribute. But the NCAA did allow Providence to wear green jerseys with Sandy Hook in place of the name on the back. If I'm the NCAA I don't see a problem with tributes like that.
