QB1 posted some better shots of the new unis on Instagram. New stripes are consistent across both sets. Gold-white-blue-white-gold. Also upgraded to the latest Nike jersey template. The Zips are now using the same uniforms as the NFL and big CFB programs. Numbers have been updated to match the new Zips brand font. Similar to the numbers being used by all other sports. It's a small detail, but I really like the consistency. I really hope they keep gold pants in the rotation. They look really nice when paired with a gold helmet and navy jersey. Wonder what helmet options we'll see? Most likely white, but I'd love them to bring back matte navy.

Hosting a tournament in Cleveland makes more sense. A legitimate arena and more exposure for teams, while cementing Cleveland as our territory when it comes to college basketball. We own the city when it comes to MAC tournament time. Let's do it earlier in the season too.

Basketball practice facility (and more) coming
akzipper replied to jupitertoo's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Anyone who is going, please post pics! The practice courts look awesome from the few shots I've seen, but I'd love to see the whole place. -
I'd add that the new Teambuilder might be the coolest feature of the entire game. While the stadium structures are locked in, you can upload whatever logos or graphics you want. Old Zippy logos, old wordmarks, script Akron, doesn't matter. You can build out 5 different uniform sets with different helmets and finishes for everything. They mentioned that real logos wouldn't be allowed due to copyright laws, but there are several Akron teams on the servers already. As well as real FCS schools.

Did you throw an interception your first pass too? I literally missed every field goal until I realized you have to aim with the joystick.

I wonder how many Zips will actually be in the game? Jason Taylor and Frye maybe? if that...

I played for about 3 hours last night. Definitely an enjoyable game and way more fun than Madden. Switched around the Zips 2024 schedule and I'm currently 2-0 heading into the matchup with Ohio State. The roster is pretty locked down. You can adjust ratings and equipment, but everything else like names, numbers, positions, etc can't be changed. So hypothetically if you wanted to make a historical Zips team, you can't. My suspicions were correct and the stadium/campus are lacking a lot of detail. Hopefully it will get upgraded as the years go on. Right now you can see the Fieldhouse and Spicer Residence hall. Everything else looks like generic buildings. Back in 2014 you could actually see inside the pressbox and all the buildings along Exchange St were there. Worst of all no Zippy in the game 😠.

Freeman just continues to exceed expectations and is getting a ton of love from Pacers fans. It's really surreal to see a Zips basketball player getting this much hype in the NBA, even if it's just Summer League. Really great for him and for our basketball program.

I watched most of the clips from that streamer. My guess is it's more of a color issue on their end and not the game. Because every school with gold looked really yellow, navy looks closer to royal blue and even Texas's burnt orange looked like blinding highlighter orange. The stadium definitely looks less detailed than it did in NCAA 14. I was afraid they'd just give us a genetic stadium, so at least it looks like ours.

Other than the midfield logo being the wrong color, InfoCision looks good. Hopefully they can fix that in a patch if enough of us complain 🤣.

I miss those uniforms so much. They wore that set when I first became a Zips fan in high school and during my first two years at UA.

Akron to play Ohio State to open the 2024 season
akzipper replied to LZIp's topic in Akron Zips Football
The first home opener at InfoCision was one of the best football atmospheres I've ever been a part of. It felt like a big-time game and the crowd was electric (at least when the game was close for that first quarter lol). It was more fun than I've had at any Browns game or even when I went down to State College to watch the Zips play PSU. We have one of the nicer stadiums in D1. Football is king in Northeast Ohio. If the Zips ever become relevant again, the fans will come. -
You are correct. At least that's what happened with Emoni Bates last season. He played in the Summer League and spent most of the regular season with the Charge.

Definitely bittersweet to see Freeman get drafted by the Pacers. I really wanted him to end up in Cleveland. I don't think I could ever root for the Pacers, but I hope he balls out.

I would assume it just opens up the opportunity to show different sponsors throughout the game. Not just be limited to the 10 permanently displayed. Similar to the boards at Progressive Field and Rocket Mortgage. Two of the biggest video displays in the country and 25% of them tends to be used for advertising.

It's crazy to me that anyone would rename a conference after a sponsor. But then again it's not much different than say the FedEx Cup, G-League or Bowl Games. I just hope they keep some consistency and don't change names every season.
-
To be fair though. None of the Akron coaches have been either. I'm always shocked at how many times NFL coordinators keep getting hired without seeing much success.
-
It's probably a long shot. But if Moorhead doesn't work out I'd love to see if Getsy would be willing to coach the Zips.

I came here to post the same thing. All I can say is....it's about time!

I would say the "field sponsor" rule is not new, just evolved. Technically we have had sponsorships on the field since InfoCision opened. It used to be that as long as the sponsor was involved in the naming of the stadium/field it could be shown. Now any brand is allowed. I don't think any school is switching out the main logo at midfield for a sponsor. It says it can be at the 50 yard line, but that most likely means below or above the current midfield logo.
-
Yeah as long as a school has a beautiful football stadium, I think they should completely ignore the team on the field. That doesn't matter right?
-
We can't emphasize this enough. The schools you mentioned do nothing for the conference and fans don't care when they come to town. My completely unrealistic pipe dream would be to merge the MAC and SunBelt while cutting some dead weight to make a new conference with a north and south division.
-
For most of us it would be a donation. Fans and boosters really don't see any returns if they give money. Maybe a few perks and a social media post. But for Groce it's more of an investment. Any money he puts into the program is going to make it better, the team will win and he will be paid accordingly. It's a great gesture and very smart of them to give back. Hopefully this means he's here to stay for a long time.

I used to always start out with a Sun Belt school, then move on to Akron, then take over a big school like ND or Michigan. Only to return back to Akron and keep that Dynasty going. It's unfortunate now that most Sun Belt schools are now considered superior to anything in the MAC. Doesn't sound like PC is planned at all and they claimed that the market isn't there to justify the cost. Not sure I buy that. Eventually you should be able to play using Xbox Game Pass using the cloud at some point. They tend to add a lot of EA games on there and most of the popular titles from other developers. Right now I play Madden constantly on my iMac through a browser and on my tablet using the Xbox app. As well as NHL24, EA PGA Tour, The Show, NBA 2K, etc.

The developers made a point to pay attention to details of every team, or so they say. Surprisingly there are a lot of people on Reddit that are excited to play as MAC teams and seem convinced that the stadiums will all be included. I sure hope so! My favorite part of NCAA 14 playing at InfoCision and being able to see the surrounding campus. Even the buildings along Exchange St, including Taco Bell 😂.
