Damn, I hate to see that. He had a rough stretch during the season, but definitely had his bright spots, especially come tourney play. He was named on the MAC all-freshman team and still had plenty of time to continue to develop. This is no small loss. The only thing that will alleviate this is if that scholly goes to someone who is better, which I don't see being easy to do.

Nice post, Keener. I like it better than your constant sarcasm....maybe I need to lighten up though. Speaking of @johnnyzip84..where the heck has he been!? -

Not being a sure thing isn't a good reason for choosing an unknown quantity over a known good quantity. I suppose time will tell. We need @K92 and @Zipgrad01's insight! -
Need more bowl seasons. I went to The Score (formerly known as Pint's..i still miss Pint's) to watch the Potato Bowl with some friends. Had a better time than I ever did in college watching them. It was neat seeing a bar full of people that were into every play of a game that featured our football team. Got to have more of those seasons, and probably an exceptional season to get people truly on board.

Still shocked that the field has more votes than Woody, though the thought didn't seem uncommon before when discussing. I guess I just really don't understand the line of logic. He is tossing the ball now and will reportedly be able to throw the ball by the start of fall camp. To me this means he will be full go. I don't see how he won't be ready after being full go for all of training camp. Even if the staff decides to slowly bring him back as the outcome of the first 2 games likely will not change no matter who is QB, I don't see how he isn't the starter vs Iowa State. edit: However, we have seen Bowden get hypnotized by the skill set in the past (Tra'Von Champman, anyone?). So I guess that could be the wildcard. -

Seems very random for a TX kid who is still in High School. Unless he happens to have some obscure local connection, which would also explain the recruitment. -
Totally fair and to each his own. Apparently the MAC feels that they benefit more from the TV money and exposure than the loss of attendance. I don't go the weekday games generally. Undecided on Kent and OU this season but will probably do it as I consider it worth the inconvenience.
-
I'm not sure what your point is. My point is that people go to basketball and other sporting events during the week and don't complain about it. I don't know where the length of the season(s) fit into the discussion.
-
A bunch of excuses. If you really want to go you'll be there. Its an inconvenience once or twice a year. You've got 8 months to plan for it.
-
I do find some irony in the complaining about Zips having football games on Tuesdays, but nobody every peeps a word about the soccer or basketball weekday games. I personally am not a giant fan myself. I know it takes an extra hour of game time than the other spots. I know you want to tailgate. Fact of the matter is if you really want to be there you will be there.

That;s certainly a positive way to look at it. I think we can all agree that the use needs expanded, however. But then again people say the same thing about Browns stadium. Maybe its not easy to attract events to an outdoor stadium in Northeast Ohio.
-
Not to mention people like to conveniently forget it would have cost more to renovate the Rubber Bowl. A stadium was needed, get over it.
-
I assumed as much. Was talking about the inside WR.

Zeke, Big Dog, and Gladden seemed to have been the biggest gets for Dambrot since I've been a fan. 2 of 3 have turned out pretty well. Really the only guys that don't need development are the 5 star one and dones.
-
He was out of bounds. But seriously, nice catch. I was trying to see who was guarding him but can't even get close to making the number out. Also, if I didn;t know any better I'd guess that was Chapman running that out.

2018 Commit Akron East DT Ramon Fields

Fair enough. Maybe semantics, but I'm only counting six who would've been upperclassman last season. Suggs, Field, Floyd, Brimage, Brimage, Callaway. I'm sure not all of them will be impactful, some probably busts. Maybe its worth taking on a guy or two who might not really be worth it to build some goodwill with an up and coming program. Time will tell. -

I don't necessarily disagree. Jones graduated in 2011. Some other big named guys off of the top of my head the past few years were Erick Smith and Marshon Lattimore (you may have heard of him). Point is you don't need to be on some state powerhouse to put out some good players, which is what was originally questioned. None of the East players have even had a chance to step on the field yet, let alone let their collegiate career play out. Most of us are also aware of the resurrection of East football as Cap'n pointed out. Seems premature to judge any of this, unless you just don't like the recruit(s) based on their tape which is fine I guess, but Callaway had an offer from Toledo, Suggs had a a handful of D1 offers, the DB Brimage currently on the team seems to have a lot of interest as does Floyd. Other schools besides us are obviously taking notice. -
So while second highest, we are really right there with OU, Toledo, and Miami. Cinci is the real outlier.

2016 - Lost to Anthony Wayne (whoever the hell that is) in the first round of the playoffs. 2015 - Smoked by Perrysburg in the regional finals. 2014 - Smoked by Willoughby South in the first round. 2013 - Lost to Loveland in the state championship 2012 - No playoff bid 2011 - No playoff bid 2010 - Lost by 3 scores to St. Eds Had to go clear back to 2010 to find a playoff loss to St. Eds or Iggy. They've hardly faired any better since dropping to D-2. None of those other schools are anything close to D-1 factories. Whatever fits your narrative though. Marlington, New Phila, and since we are on the topic of Tusc. County, Dover are all pretty damn fine programs for their size. -

So is the limited film of him on defense from his sophomore year or did he get spot duty on the DL last season? -

They won the city series last year and beat the #1 seed in the playoffs.I wouldn't call them a top program in the state but they are certainly not bad. -

It did work...I don't agree with not gimmicky, however. I guess it really doesn't matter though as long as the job gets done.
