  1. 6-6 at minimum to be here next year IMO
  2. I agree with Jay Feely. Tired of the conservative play calling. #BowdenBall
  3. And Dylan Evans is still giving up critical plays. Death, taxes...
  4. Dylan Pratt...still out here dropping balls.
  5. Jordan George..another freshman I've been pleased with. Great hit!
  6. We executed an extra point today!
  7. Our offensive line is horrible. The scary part is that they are all seniors and no underclassmen are apparently good enough to steal some playing time.
  8. Nice write up wadzip, very informative. 1981 - The big fat zero in the NCAA tournament wins makes me inclined to disagree. But for the record, I think Tree would have been that "star" last season. Too bad that it didn't work out. Zeke received similar praise (up there for the MAC POY), but while I think Zeke was more talented, he didn't have that mean streak to take over a game like Tree played with.
  9. Just because someone is a division 1 football coach doesn't mean they are perfect. Remember when Chapman was the starting QB to begin the season (a counterpoint you continue to ignore). Coaches get fired all the time and rightfully so. Just because some of us aren't D1 football coaches doesn't mean we don't know anything about the game. A few weeks ago I said that Donnell Alexander's carries need to go to one of our younger RBs with potential like Van Edwards so they can develop. Just last week, Van Edwards got a few carries and Alexander had none. Go Zips!
  10. Dri is going to have to work on his route speed somewhere else. Released by the Steelers.
  11. pretty big clue here ZTV Sports ‏@ZTVsports 5m5 minutes ago Starting lineup for Akron: Fr. Josh Williams, Jr. Kwan Cheatham, Jr Isaiah Johnson, Sr Reggie McAdams, and Soph. Antino Jackson 0 retweets 0 likes
  12. While I'm a supporter of the coaches, I don't think they're perfect. Remember when Chapman started the season as the starting QB after the coaches had a year to evaluate him? Your argument holds no weight. Just because he hasn't perfected routes and footwork doesn't mean he shouldn't be playing when he is still better than any alternative. Nowhere did I say he shouldn't continue to perfect the little things. Imani Davis (who is a senior and is not dealing with a position change) has the most receptions on the team and the 2nd most yards and he is only playing half of the snaps as well. Whats the excuse for that one? Better yet, the Zips ran 11 personnel the majority of the snaps against CMU. How many times were our two best WRs, Lane and Davis, on the field together in that package? I'll save you the guesswork, it was none. The coaching staff is not putting the best talent on the field. There is clearly an issue with the offense. In three games against decent MAC competition, we have scored 12, 10, and 6 points. If acknowledging a problem makes me "ignorant", than so be it. CMU is giving up 21.7 ppg, OU 27.3, and Bowling Green 28. Hardly juggernauts we are struggling against. But please keep defending the coaching staff at all costs, the status quo is clearly working!
  13. He's your best player on offense. Even though still a little raw, its a disservice to the team to not play the best players. Sorry, Andrew Pratt doesn't deserve snaps over him. It makes no sense not to play him just because he isn't polished (yet still your best talent). Jerome Lane is 2nd on the team in receptions (behind Davis) and 1st in yards. He has more than double the touchdowns as the next closest player. Davis and Lane have approximately 4x a many yards as the #3 receiver. Playing these two only half of the snaps is just downright dumb.
  14. THIS.
  15. I don't know about Jerome (I assume he would be capable), but I know Tyrell Goodman can. As for the tempo thing, at a high level, look no further than Oregon.
  16. Big Pat checks in at #7. http://www.hustlebelt.com/mac-basketball/2015/11/5/9666124/pat-forsythe-akron-zips-mens-basketball
  17. He really has.
  18. Toledo needs a lot of help as it is for a New Year's day bowl. Unfortunately, the AAC has 3 good teams this year and I'd bet on at least one of them finishing above Toledo even if the Rockets were to go undefeated. Don't think it matters though, I have BG beating Toledo.
  19. Thats pretty depressing, but I'd definitely take the Zips.
  20. I would put money on Chuck being there before TB. I've heard he is still looking for another head coaching gig, loves Florida, and the job he has done on D could maybe get him some consideration.
  21. This is one of the harder losses for me to take as a Zips fan. Absolutely no reason we shouldn't have won this game. I cant for the life of me figure out why we are not playing our two best WRs on the field together. I have never seen two sets of WR corps being rotated in and out every other possession in a meaningful game in my life. Play your best god damn people. That's Davis and Lane. If you're going to run 3 wide and insist on playing McNeil..probably throw Goodman in there as well. PLAY YOUR BEST PLAYERS. We can't even execute a damn extra point. We can't even get the right number of guys on the field on a critical 3rd down. Players don't know how to line up..costing us points and giving the other team points. Our O-line looked putrid today. Our team has zero enthusiasm outside of the normal few on defense. The players on the sideline look like they don't want to be there. I can take a 59-10 ass whooping from a really good team, but damn am I done with us beating ourselves. People want to talk QB..I'll talk QB. Woodson is playing just fine when he has more than 0.5 seconds to throw the ball. Woodson is far and away the best QB on our team. People talk about him not being the answer, well guess what..he isn't the problem!. He's accurate when given time, doesnt turn the ball over, and is a running threat when he needs to be. The real crime at QB is the coaching staff who thought our 3rd best QB was somehow our best QB. The fact that they had a whole year to evaluate him makes it even worse. I'm just about out of patience. We should go 4-0 to finish the season. I'll give that a 5% chance of happening. I have to accept 6-6 for this year, because that would mean we aren't losers (which is something I've yet to witness as a Zips fan). 6-6 is a positive for the program, no matter who the competition is against (remember we played a conference schedule full of cupcakes last season). Now I would like to point out a positive on the state of the program. I am seeing more and more freshman getting involved and holding their own.I think there was only one or two Fresh who weren't red shirted last season. Red-shirted or not. I still like seeing underclassman contribute. Our defense too...you guys played great. I'm tired of our coaching staff and offense letting you down. Bowden has taken us out of the cellar of college football, but that alone isn't good enough. He needs to go 6-6 to buy himself another year, IMO. Another 5-7..especially against this shitty competition, and I'm done with him.
  22. I don't think so. Hopefully Bowden ditches this stupid idea in the 2nd half but watch for it. Cooper, Lane, and Wolf are WRs for one set and Goodman, Davis, and Pratt are the WRs for the other set. What is so difficult about playing your best 3 players?? Especially in such a crucial game..
  23. Upon second look..they are actually rotating the whole WR corps every other possession. May be the dumbest thing I've ever heard of.
  24. Someone tell me what I'm missing..why is Lane only playing every other possession? Also..nice to see we are getting one of "those" games from Stein.
  25. Look coach..you put Lane in and good things happen.
