Up until ten years ago or so, OSU didn't have very competitive admissions at all. Around that time, it was common knowledge that anyone who went to my old high school with a sub par GPA or better was a shoe-in at OSU. Of course, things have changed, but just about every school in Ohio has it's strong points. I agree that every universtiy has its strong points..im not trying to put anyone down. I just think OSU has probably the best overall university akzipper- I dont know..I could be wrong but I've never seen people around campus saying Akron sucks or anything like that. I think a lot of people root for them because they are an in-state team. Just like I root for the Bengals, Reds, and Cavs professionally. I do have a cousin who played for OSU who is currently in the pros (hartline). So I guess I do have a connection. But I dont think because you dont have a connection to a team, you cant root for them. Does that mean if you are from NE Ohio, you cant root for any professional team not from cleveland? Im curious to know who a lot of you rooted for while you were growing up. I honestly dont think it would be akron unless you had some sort of strong family connection to the university. Im from the ohio valley where the closest big city is pittsburgh(who i hate in all sports), so i dont really understand.

do you really think ohio state is really stealing recruits from us? They recruit more on a national scale. If they had some bad seasons that would help the likes of Penn State, Michigan, Florida, Texas. The teams stealing recruits from us are our conference opponents and middle of the road AQ teams like Syracuse and Cinci. Keep 'em comin

I guess I dont understand why all the hate for the "Suckeyes" or "OSUcks" on here. I grew up a Buckeye fan, as I'm sure most of you grew up some major football program fan, whether it be OSU, Michigan, Texas, etc., unless you had strong family ties to the University or something. But now I go to the University of Akron and am proud to say I do. Like it or not, there is only room for one Ohio State in Ohio. No other in state university will probably be able to match what they do academically or athletically overall. How I root for them against each other head to head is by expectations. I will not root for Akron to ruin OSU's national championship hopes in football week 1 of the 2011 season. Just like I rooted for #1 Akron to beat OSU in soccer this past season. Hypothetically, if Akron played OSU in basketball later this season and it was potentially for OSU to earn the #1 overall seed and for Akron just to make the tournament, I'd root for Akron, because it would be a good experience for UA and OSU would still be in the tourney. I dont know whether or not that makes me a bandwagon fan or something..but I grew up and always will be an OSU fan, but does that not mean I can't root for the University I attend and love as well? It also doesn't bother me that people wear OSU stuff around campus (i do sometimes myself), but it does bother me when someone where's an OSU hoody to a football game or something. It REALLY bothers me when students are wearing other MAC apparel around campus because those teams are our rivals. I don't know..maybe I am off base..but I just don't see the need to bash OSU so much..especially since we really aren't on the same level as them overall like it or not.

I agree to an extent. The difference, of course, is Carter had proved to be able to play DB in college, where Hall hadn't done anything in college and, PROBABLY, played on O and D in high school. We see this with a guy like Randy Greenwood as well=I think he has been moved once or twice already! Hall was a running back in high school as well as playing on defense

I wasnt at this game last saturday, but i did notice against syracuse our starting RB was on special teams. I believe he was rushing on punt return
