Just watched Alabama go for it on less than 4th and 1 this past drive. Once out of the pistol and once out of shotgun. Of course they got it both times, but even Bama doesn’t go under center on 4th and short for whatever reason.

I don't think reducing capacity is necessarily a bad thing if its made up for in other ways. Student population is about half what it was a decade ago and "Joe Akron" doesn't come out to support the Zips like they did during the Dambrot years, though we've put together some of our best teams during Groce's tenure thus far.

I imagine we would have done it already if permitted, but selling the naming rights to a business and using the proceeds for renovations sounds like a win/win to me.

From the rendering, it looks like just plastic bleachers above and new chairbacks in lower section? If so, not a big fan. We should have chairbacks at minimum on both sides of the court.

Joe confirmed on Zips Live tonight what I thought the announcers said at the Liberty game. There’s a good chance Bubba has another year of eligibility. I assume the determining factor is officially getting the medical redshirt for last year. Would be big to get him back.

I think the process is to build a foundation and will be used to supplement later. Arth relied heavily on HS recruits and we know how that worked out.

In general, do you think most programs have a preference of Juco/transfer portal targets? Obviously should be assessed on a player by player basis, but seems like the transfer portal has yielded more notable results.

Nobody has decommitted..yet, so that’s promising I suppose.

We (probably still are) were the worst program in the country outside of maybe UMASS and NMSU. Finish the season strong, and as @LoyalZIP said, very big offseason for the program.

Count in me in as being a big fan of the MAC as well. Just wish the conference collectively would elevate in football and basketball. Money is obviously a large part of that and a lot of the conference members having enrollment decline doesn’t help. Additionally, I think I read somewhere the B1G’s new TV deal is paying $70mm per team, while I think we are getting something like $500k per team. We need to renegotiate that to at least a few mil a team. Don’t see any reason we shouldn’t be able to do that. I would’ve really liked to have us add any combination of JMU/Marshall/WKU/MTSU.
