  2. Bowling Green at Buffalo? Right? What time is that match? I am not at a computer right now.
  3. And you think we have problems.....
  4. Embick was right to pull the starters in hopes of resting legs. It would have been really nice if the Bench (those who did not start) would have been able to either prevent GC second goal and/or score a third for us. They could do neither. 2nd half was never 100% starters or 100% bench. It very rarely is. I do not think Ruhaak or Weidt ever left the pitch. Embick was also right to re-insert starters in hopes of winning OT. Was there a net gain in overall minutes played for key players? Najem may have gained a few minutes rest, maybe. Did Belana play at all in OT? Holthusen definitely played more than anyone Akron would have liked. Embick managed the match well, but his team somewhat let him down. Nowadays, I will take any win anyhow.
  5. Thanks for posting that link. I fail to see how Coach Embick's gamble saved starters' legs, considering most of the starters were pressed back into service during OT. I would say that he gambled and lost. The bench should have held on to the lead.
  6. Looks crazy down here today. Is there a Football game?
  7. Missing the NCAA tourney happens occasionally to the elite. But that does not mean I must be OK with Akron missing this tournament. I will not make excuses. Better effort by this squad vs. WVA, and we would not be having this conversation. Ken Lolla was rumored to be fired last year for missing the tournament. Louisville came to their senses and rightfully retained him. Notre Dame completely restructured their soccer recruiting after missing the tournament in 2011. Coach John Kerr at Duke can save his job by making the tournament this year, after missing the past few (3?). Elite programs do not quietly accept bad seasons. Nor should we. Should Zips miss the NCAA Tournament (God forbid), then some rigorous reassessment of the program need follow.
  8. What is the total of D1 Football combined with D1A? I can research that should I choose. Never mind. Zips MSOC should first be compared to elite MSOC programs rather than to other sports within our school. Missing the NCAA tournament will never be acceptable at Maryland, NCarolina, Notre Dame, Virginia, Indiana, etc. Should we consider Akron MSOC among the elite? I firmly believe we should. So Skip, do not feel guilty. You are right to be dissatisfied. Grumble! It is what good fans do. Thanks for helping me distill my thought.
  9. There are many more Football and Basketball programs in the NCAA than there are Soccer. There are less than 300 DI MSOC. And Zips may fall out of top 30 this week. Not that polls mean much this time of year. RPI is king. Keep the standard high. We have been to the mountain. Nothing less will suffice. Do not be satisfied with this.
  10. May Coach John Bluem keep his job for 100 years!
  11. No more PKs for AN10! It ain't his bag! Dig?
  12. That is what I meant. DeVera, Hinds, and Shultz are not all playing wing back.
  13. Is Nate Shultz playing Forward or Midfield?
  14. Hinds to Lewis for score? Am I seeing that right?
  15. Point #1 is the largest contributing factor in the demise of the 2016 Akron Zips. Victor Souto's suspension and eventual dismissal marked ground zero for the implosion of the team. I cannot recall a Zips match where I wanted it to end prematurely, just to be done with the mess. But that is how I felt last Saturday night vs. WVA. The last half hour was excruciating. I forced myself to ride it out, because I wanted the team, the coaches, the staff to see my silent disapproval as they exited the pitch. I felt is was important for them to see that. It was freaky and weird to see Victor sitting in the bleachers, watching the match vs. WVA. Some day this whole story will surface, but not any time soon, I fear.
  16. This team has lost its way.
  17. This topic is quite popular on BigSoccer.com. Start reading on page 45. Enjoy! http://forums.bigsoccer.com/threads/darlington-nagbe.2026540/page-45
  18. Was it not interesting seeing both Hinds and De Vera manning the flanks?
  19. This squad drives me crazy!
  20. Toothless defense!
  21. Connor Maloney. Remember him?
  22. Ruhaak and Radjen had better remove their heads from their respective asses!
  23. Stu deserved a card.
